| - Its controversial plot and the selection of the movie O.K. (1970) for the competition of the festival is causing such a tohubohu between filmmakers and festival officials that the festival directors offer their resignation and the festival breaks down before it ends. On 5 July 1970, two days before the official ending of the festival, the international jury resigns. Only some minor awards are handed out.
