6 August 2017 5:20 PM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Kyra Sedgwick has fewer degrees of separation to Kevin Bacon than she, perhaps, might want. Sedgwick took part in a panel during the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour on Sunday to promote her new ABC drama, “Ten Days in the Valley.” At the event, she was asked about a previous episode of PBS’ “Finding Your Roots” that revealed that she and husband Bacon are distant cousins. The couple, who tied the knot in 1988, have two adult children together. Also Read: 'Once Upon a Time' Star Lana Parrilla Won't Play Regina in Rebooted Season 7 “I figured I was going to be. »

Watch: Tom Hanks Recalls Goofing Off on Apollo 13 with Late Costar Bill Paxton: 'He Was Mr. Enthusiasm'

28 July 2017 9:00 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

When Tom Hanks met Bill Paxton on the set of 1995’s Apollo 13, he was only familiar with one of Paxton’s roles.

“I really only knew him as the ‘Game over’ guy from Aliens,” he says in an exclusive clip from the “A True Original: Remembering Bill Paxton” featurette on the Blu-Ray/DVD for their final film together, The Circle.

When Hanks, 61, told his late costar it immediately became a running gag between the two, especially since the Oscar-winning film was a big, exciting project for Paxton, who died from a stroke in February.

Blood Drive's Colin Cunningham Details the Evolution of Slink — Plus: How He Asked for (And Got) Full Frontal Nudity

25 July 2017 6:45 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Blood Drive‘s titular race for years had been a subversive affair sneaked to lookie-loos via closed-circuit TV. But as the gauntlet gained a following, evil overlord Heart Enterprises stepped forward with a national broadcast and (gasp/ugh) “notes.”

Julian Slink — the race’s Master of Mayhem — at first waved off the input, steadfastly “trying to retain his integrity as an artist, to come up with something of worth that is meaningful,” says portrayer Colin Cunningham. Or at least “something of worth” as pertains a contest where the cars are fueled by ill-gotten human blood. But in this Wednesday’s »

“How blurry must a gorilla photo be to be confused with Bigfoot?” Bacon sings.

Exclusive: Why Kyra Sedgwick Waited More Than 30 Years to Make Her Directorial Debut

20 July 2017 8:00 AM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

After more than three decades as an actress and producer in Hollywood, Kyra Sedgwick is finally taking the leap behind the camera, making her directorial debut in Lifetime's coming-of-age TV movie, Story of a Girl.

Based on the 2007 Ya novel by Sara Zarr, the two-hour movie centers on a young teenage girl named Deanna (played by Banshee's Ryann Shane), whose sex tape goes viral in the sleepy town she's called home all her life, fracturing her relationship with her family and exiling her among her peers.

For Sedgwick, Story of a Girl hits close to home -- "So many things about the story rang true to me," she shared with Et -- and part of the reason why she was less hesitant about putting on the director's hat for the first time. For it to have been made into a movie is itself a feat, as Sedgwick optioned the book when it was first published and attempted »

Horror Highlights: The Gracefield Incident Q&A, Volumes Of Blood: Horror Stories, Famous Monsters Of Filmland at Comic-Con

17 July 2017 7:01 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

In today's Horror Highlights, we have a Q&A with The Gracefield Incident at Mathieu Ratthe, new stills from Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories, and details on Famous Monsters of Filmland's presence at this year's San Diego Comic-Con.

Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Mathieu. How and when did you first come up with the idea for The Gracefield Incident?

Mathieu Ratthe: First of all, thank you, Derek, for your interest in our film. I wanted to create a suspenseful story that scared the crap out of the audience, but also made them emotionally involved, which is really tough to do in this kind of movie, but I think we achieved it pretty well in our film.

The conceptual idea (or I liked to call it the “technique”) came after I realized how many days I was given to shoot our film with the budget that I had. »

The A-List Inner Circle: Proof Hollywood Could Make Every Movie With These 14 Actors

13 July 2017 8:00 AM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Hollywood is a small town, but it just got even smaller. The A-list isn't a new concept in Tinseltown and it's no secret that there's a select group of people who can considered to be stars of the highest caliber. But what people might not realize is that the A-list is basically one exclusive club of interconnected actors and actresses—it's like that old game, Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, only Kevin Bacon isn't actually invited this time because it's just that exclusive.  After some very exhaustive research it's easy to come to the conclusion that, in fact, the group of actors at the top of their craft is so insular that they basically make up one big movie cast. It's no wonder that »

Box Office: ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Slings to Massive $117 Million Domestic Opening

9 July 2017 8:00 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Spider-Man is officially a box office overachiever.

As of Sunday morning, the latest cinematic depiction of the webbed-hero, “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” is looking at a $117 million opening from 4,348 locations. $10.6 million of the domestic total came from 392 Imax screens. That’s a huge win for Sony, Columbia Pictures, and Marvel Studios for the film, which cost roughly $175 million to produce. The anticipated opening weekend is higher than industry estimates, which were in the $90 million to $110 million range, while the studio cautiously pegged it at $80 million.

“Everyone at Sony and Marvel are thrilled,” said Josh Greenstein, Sony’s marketing chief. “It’s safe to say it’s a triumphant return for Spider-Man.”

“Homecoming” banked on the idea that the summer box office was craving a family-friendly superhero movie — Tom Holland plays a high school version of Peter Parker who, at 15 years old, has to prove that he is worthy of being called an Avenger. And »

Best CGI Movies: Top 10 Sony Imageworks Visual Effects Movies Ranked

7 July 2017 11:22 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Sony Pictures Imageworks, celebrating its 25th anniversary, is unique in Hollywood as the only studio-run visual effects and animation division. Formed in 1992 (now headquartered in Vancouver), Imageworks alternates between live-action/CG hybrids and animation with its younger sister, Sony Pictures Animation, which was founded in 2002.

Imageworks has won two Oscars (“Spider-Man 2” VFX and “The ChubbChubbs!” animated short) along with an Academy Sci-Tech award this year for an advanced shading program. But Imageworks first cut its teeth on “Speed,” “James and the Giant Peach,” “Jumanji,” “Starship Troopers,” and “Contact” before tackling “Stuart Little” in 1999, the first-cg-animated character to star in a live-action feature.

Since then, Imageworks spear-headed performance capture-based virtual production with director Robert Zemeckis (“Polar Express,” “Monster House”), and has continued to work on franchises including “Spider-Man” (“Homecoming” opens this week), “The Smurfs,” and “Hotel Transylvania.”

Here’s our ranking of the 10 best VFX moments from Imageworks:

Peer Into A Life Beyond Death With All-New Images For Sony’s Flatliners Sequel

7 July 2017 10:25 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

In the world of Flatliners, death is merely the beginning.

That’s a clichéd phrase that is so often tossed around Hollywood’s marketing departments year in, year out, but in Niels Arden Oplev’s long-rumored horror sequel, death is literally the beginning of a new life for five whip-smart medical students attempting to play God.

Headed up by Ellen Page, Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Nina Dobrev, James Norton and Kiersey Clemons (The Flash), Flatliners toys with the fine line between life and death, as our group of characters undergoes terrifying near-death experiences in the hope of gaining a new lease of life. Talk about poetic irony. But venturing over to the other side has consequences of its own, and after showcasing its first teaser trailer, Sony has now rolled out a handful of foreboding images that find Ellen Page and the rest of the gang »
