Yesterday Paramount announced that they had brought on board French action director Pierre Morel to champion their (presumably) big budget remake of the sci-fi epic Dune. Having hypothesized that Morel has what it takes to make a unique, deep-pocketed tent pole film, I found this to be good news. However, if you were in the opposite camp, the one who finds Morel's brand of explosion-happy, character-lite filmmaking to be no different than any number of other loud studio actioners, then chances are this new trailer (watch it after the jump) for his latest film, From Paris With Love, isn't going to do a thing to quell any skepticism regarding his ability to transport audiences to another planet.
And you'd be excused if you dismissed this trailer, which showcases a butch and bald John Travolta beating up Parisian terrorists, and shooting up Parisian terrorists, and blowing up Parisian terrorists, with laughs. »

Following hot on the heels of the two new international TV spots earlier this week, a second trailer and two new film stills have been released for recently announced Dune director, Pierre Morel’s explosive action flick, From Paris With Love. Film stars John Travolta, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Amber Rose Revah and Melissa Mars.
The trailer features all the usual explosions and escapades you’d expect from this kind of action thriller, as well as some fresh new footage to boot. Personally I cannot seem to take my eyes off of Travolta’s shiny bald head, it’s almost hypnotic and it’s certainly a different look for the man! Check out the new trailer and stills below, let us know what you think…

"District B13," released in 2004 (2006 in the States), is a stylish action flick written/produced by Luc Besson and directed by Pierre Morel, who is making headlines today for signing on to helm "Dune." The movie stars David Belle, founder of le parkour, so it's highlighted by some amazing feats of acrobatic artistry.
I haven't yet seen the sequel, "District 13: Ultimatum," but Belle is the star once again so I expect more of the same stylish action. That's certainly how things look in this clip, in which Belle dispatches a group of bad guys with little more than his limbs and an unframed painting. The story -- written by Besson once again -- picks up three years after the last movie, with Belle's Leito and Cyril Raffaeli's Damien returning to the titular district to fix the lawlessness that runs rampant there. On the heels of the news that Pierre Morel will be taking on the remake of Dune, is the second trailer for his next upcoming action flick, From Paris With Love. The film stars John Travolta as FBI Super-Agent Charlie Wax, who gets teamed up with an unsuspecting partner, who’s far from a field agent, James Reece (Jonathan Rhys Meyers).
The film looks like a bit of Casino Royale meets any buddy cop film from the late 80s. With Taken and District B13’s Morel taking the helm and The Trasporter films writer Luc Besson taking on the script, you can bet that this film will be full of nonstop action. The only question remains; can Travolta pull off Parkour?
Check out the trailer after the jump, and decide for yourself. From Paris With Love hits theaters on February 5th worldwide.

Written by Morel and Luc Besson (Leon: The Professional), the film stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers as a low-ranking intelligence operative working in the office of the U.S. Ambassador in France who takes on more than he bargained for when he partners up with a wisecracking, fast-shooting, high-ranking U.S. agent (John Travolta) who’s been sent to Paris to stop a terrorist attack. If you’re looking for some explosions, you’ll want to check the trailer out.

The latest trailer for “Taken” director Pierre Morel’s “From Paris with Love” has popped up over at Apple. It’s all about Travolta in this one. The trailer pretty much gives you what you’d expect in a Luc Besson-produced film — lots of explosions, action, and of course, some perfunctory attempts at male bonding. And oh, Fyi: Morel is scheduled to take over the directing reins of the “Dune” remake over at Paramount. Our Frenchie’s moving on up in Hollywood. A low-ranking intelligence operative (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) working in the office of the U.S. Ambassador in France takes on more than he bargained for when he partners with a wisecracking, fast-shooting, high-ranking U.S. agent (John Travolta) who’s been sent to Paris to stop a terrorist attack. Starring John Travolta, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Kasia Smutniak, and Richard Durden. Travolta is staying alive in Paris February 5, 2010. »

News has landed from a far away place in space and time, well, Los Angeles. It is a message of potential greatness, earthlings. The word being spread by Variety at the moment is Taken and From Paris with Love helmer, Pierre Morel, has “taken” over directing duties on sci-fi epic, Dune.
Originally in the hands of Peter Berg (before he jumped ship), it now seems Paramount are mad keen on the French action director to shout “action!” There’s already a script for this done by Josh Zetumer, perhaps Morel’s good friend Luc Besson, will be hired for a re-draft? Since David Lynch was talked into making a version in 1984 on the back of Star Wars success, there has been a mini-series. However, it does appear Paramount want a big screen adaptation…perhaps it will be a thril-logy like Lord of the Rings or something!

Following up on the earlier news about Pierre Morel (District B13, Taken) directing Dune, we now have the second trailer for his next feature, From Paris with Love. The film stars John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and concerns a young embassy worker who teams up with an unruly FBI agent to stop a terrorist attack in Paris. It's pretty obvious who's who. Luc Besson is also credited with the film's story, not unlike many other films he produces. Instead of Besson's regular screenwriting bud Robert Mark Kamen, Paris's script was written by Adi Hasak. I've been a fan of Morel's ever since I was floored by my import copy of District B13. While that movie was a bit uneven as an action film, there was enough good in it to convince me that Morel had a bright future ahead of him. I enjoyed what he did with Taken (though »

Another sneak peek at action movie "From Paris with Love" has been shared through a brand new trailer. A courtesy of Apple, the video features a lot of action scenes that can be seen in the film about an embassy officer who is partnered with an American spy.
Along with the debut of the new trailer, Lionsgate Films has also released two fresh images from the film. One of the pictures captures Melissa Mars standing between John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, while the other still features Travolta holding a gun.
In this movie, Rhys-Meyers plays James Reese, a low-ranking intelligence operative working in the office of the U.S. Ambassador in France. One day, he gets more than what he bargained for when he teams up with high-ranking U.S. agent Charlie Wax, portrayed by Travolta, who's been sent to Paris to stop a terrorist attack.

The remake of a 1984 sci-fi classic has found itself a new director after Peter Berg left the project due to scheduling conflicts. Pajiba reported last October that Berg left the project in order to direct Battleship for Universal.
Entertainment Weekly is now reporting that Pierre Morel (Taken/From Paris With Love) has come aboard to direct the Dune remake. Paramount for awhile wanted Neill Blomkamp to direct the film but that seemed to not work out.
Though Blomkamp directing would have been awesome, Morel is a wonderful pick. He will definitely bring a lot of awesome qualities to the film. Also as Luc Besson’s protege, he has similar range and just look what Besson did with science fiction films like the Fifth Element, which is definitely a great action sci-fi film. I’d like to see him use some of the parkour stunts in the film, which would definitely be unique. »

I don't expect Shakespeare when I look at the trailer and new clip for District 13: Ultimatum, the sequel to the 2004 District 13. That film was the first pairing of Taken director Pierre Morel and writer-producer Luc Besson, in those roles, anyway. This one is again written by Besson but directed by Patrick Alessandrin.
The action in Ultimatum is the star, and more specifically, we're talking about the parkour. It's more familiarly known as free running, although I think there are some cosmetic differences between them, but I'm certainly no expert. However, you won't mistake parkour for ballroom dancing, and it's front and center here. This stuff is pretty cool to watch. Would hate to be their knees, however.
Oh, and there's probably a story here, too, but I wasn't paying attention to that. »

A flurry of trailers have recently appeared online including several official Us trailers for foreign films which have previously been released elsewhere, and now 2009 French action film District 13: Ultimatum has followed suit.
A sequel to 2004’s highly successful District 13, French filmmaking legend Luc Besson returns as writer/producer, as do the first film’s stars David Belle and Cyril Raffaelli. For those unfamiliar with the acting duo, David Belle is the primary founder of Parkour (which is heavily featured in both District 13 films) and Cyril Raffaelli is an incredible martial artist and stuntman who is also a Parkour practitioner/traceur. Patrick Alessandrin took over directing duties for the sequel from Pierre Morel, who directed the first District 13 movie, as Morel has been busy with his follow up films Taken (starring Liam Nesson) and the upcoming From Paris with Love (starring John Travolta).

French movie website, EuropaCorp have released two new teaser trailers for Pierre Morel’s upcoming action film From Paris with Love, starring John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
There are a number of films being released in 2010 which I am very much looking forward to, and this is definitely one of them. Although I am a fan of John Travolta, the main reason I want to watch this film is because of the director/producer partnership of Pierre Morel and Luc Besson. The duo have previously made District 13 and Taken, and although both movies were weak in certain areas, they were two of the most entertaining action films of the past decade. Whilst the action genre in Hollywood has suffered greatly in recent times as the major studios have pushed for watered-down, family friendly action movies, these two French filmmakers have helped fill the void for entertaining, balls to the wall, »
