New Posters for Harrison Ford & Brendan Fraser’s ‘Extraordinary Measures’

19 hours ago | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Anyone else think that this is the most bizarre casting since we saw….. I can’t even think of anything this strange! Harrison Ford has teamed up with comedy kids actor, Brendan Fraser in a movie called ‘Extraordinary Measures’. Not only do I think the casting is weird but are those posters the most Photoshopped movie posters you’ve ever seen or is it just me?! They both certainly look determined! Click the images below to enlarge or visit Cinematical to view in super high res.

The movie is directed by Tom Vaughan and Cinematical, who debuted these new posters, give us the storyline:

Fraser stars as Crowley, a man working his way up in corporate America. He’s got a loving family (Keri Russell plays his wife), and everything seems to be working out splendidly. But then his two children are diagnosed with a fatal disease. He quits his job, »

Exclusive: Poster Premiere for 'Extraordinary Measures'

20 hours ago | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Cinematical has just received a poster and banner for CBS Films' Extraordinary Measures, which will be hitting theaters on January 22, 2010. Yes, folks, those determined faces are for real -- the action flicks and laughs are on hold as Brendan Fraser and Harrison Ford are dipping into a little dramatic work, and this time it's to relay the true story of John Crowley and his efforts to cure his kids' life-threatening disease. Robert Nelson Jacobs adapted Geeta Anand's book (Cure), and Tom Vaughn (What Happened in Vegas) directed the feature.

Fraser stars as Crowley, a man working his way up in corporate America. He's got a loving family (Keri Russell plays his wife), and everything seems to be working out splendidly. But then his two children are diagnosed with a fatal disease. He quits his job, and devotes his time and efforts into saving his children by teaming up with "a brilliant, »

Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence to Star in Crossover of 90s Characters Sheneneh And Wanda

9 November 2009 12:15 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

In what I can only pray is a kind of “That would be fun, we should make that movie someday,”-story because I can’t fathom why Jamie Foxx would want to go back and make a movie starring his stand-up/”In Loving Color” character, Wanda Wayne.  You don’t see Jim Carrey angling for a Fire Marshall Bill movie and Foxx has far more respect and critical appreciation than Carrey.

On the other hand, I completely understand Martin Lawrence digging his stand-up/”Martin” character, Sheneneh Jenkins for a movie since Lawrence has shown he has no interest in expanding beyond the “College Road Trip”/”Big Momma’s House”-type films he’s done for the past several years.  But regardless of their career trajectories, Lawrence and Foxx are planning to star in a feature film crossover of their 90s, ugly women character, “Sheneneh and Wanda”.  Hit the jump for details. »

Teaser Trailer: Salt

4 November 2009 8:27 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Earlier today, a Russian version of the Salt trailer managed to leak onto the Internet and it was quickly culled by Sony. I’m glad as it was worth the wait to see it in HD. On other sites, it’s been compared to a Bourne-style conspiracy theory but what do you think? I’ve embedded it below or you can head over to Yahoo to view in HD.

Salt Stars Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Andre Braugher and is directed by Phillip Noyce who has previously brought us Patriot Games and the Bone Collector which also starred Jolie. This means that Noyce is also no stranger to action as Patriot Games in my opinion was awesome and gave both Harrison Ford and Sean Bean a chance to shine. Check out the synopsis below then watch the trailer and you’ll soon see the similarities to the Bourne series. »

Trailer for Angelina Jolie Thriller ‘Salt’

4 November 2009 2:06 PM, PST | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

Sony has released the English language trailer for Salt, a spy thriller from director Phillip Noyce and star Angelina Jolie.  This is a deadly combination because of Jolie’s experience with fast-paced action (she actually replaced Tom Cruise when he backed out), and Noyce’s history of fun, charged flicks like the “Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan” films Clear and Present Danger and Patriot Games.

Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor also star.

The script is receiving extremely high marks, including landing at #7 in ScriptShadow’s reader Top 25 list this week.  I’ll hopefully have my thoughts on the script sometime in the next few days, for those that are interested.

As for the trailer, it’s another Bourne-style action movie and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.  I’m liking the brutal, hard-hitting action lately as long as directors can keep the camera still while it’s happening.

'Xtrme City' about Mumbai mafia, families, romance: Paul Schrader

30 October 2009 1:39 PM, PDT | Filmicafe | See recent Filmicafe news »

Hollywood screenplay writer-director Paul Schrader says 'Xtrme City', his first Indian collaboration dealing with the Mumbai mafia and slums, is also about romance, families and obligations.'The script that I am dealing with is about two men who've worked together - an American policeman and an Indian ex-bhai. But it's not a gangster film. It's not a 'Satya', 'Company' or 'Sarkar'. It's a different kind of film,' Schrader told Ians in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.'It has to deal with the world of crime but it also has to deal with families, romance and farce. Mostly it's about farce and obligations,' he said on the sidelines of the Mumbai Film Festival (Mff).Mff is an initiative by Reliance Big Entertainment and the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (Mami) and Schrader is an international jury for the ongoing fest.'Xtrme City' found »

Kurt Russell As Hans Solo In Star Wars Audition

30 October 2009 11:51 AM, PDT | SciFiCool.com | See recent SciFiCool.com news »

Lots of famous folks were up for the part of Hans Solo in “Star Wars”. Thankfully, Harrison Ford came away with the job. Besides Harrison, actors like Nick Nolte, Christopher Walken, Jack Nicholson and even Steve Martin were considered for the part. Here’s one guy that I think could have pulled it off. Kurt Russell’s audition was a little dry but I think Kurt would have brought the humour and the attitude eventually. Here’s his game effort to land Han. While I’m at it, just for giggles is a few more auditions of the lucky bunch that caught Uncle George’s attention. Via Cinematical. »

Watch This: Kurt Russell Auditioning for 'Star Wars'

30 October 2009 10:45 AM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

After reading Peter Hall's post on Kevin Spacey's stunning impersonations, I had to reacquaint myself with the old SNL sketch he mentioned and get as much Spacey as I could. (Check it out if you have no idea what I'm talking about.) From there, well, the handy site called YouTube suggested something else for me -- Kurt Russell's Star Wars audition.

If you didn't already know, he was one of the many actors vying for the role of Han Solo (according to IMDb, a list including Nick Nolte, Christopher Walken, Jack Nicholson, and even -- egads -- Steve Martin). What's funny about the clip (after the jump) is how completely earnest and goodie Russell was playing it -- almost like the good-natured Disney fare from his youth. There was none of the true cockiness, ego, or charisma that made the character so memorable. No, no one could »

No Sign of Mel! Charlize Theron to Star in "Mad Max 4"

29 October 2009 4:58 PM, PDT | Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news »

Charlize Theron is set to star in the fourth installment of the "Mad Max" franchise called "Fury Road."

The actress will be working with producer-director George Miller and production is set to start filming next August in Australia.

British actor Tom Hardy from "Black Hawk Down" will co-star with Theron. Warner Bros. is set to distribute "Mad Max: Fury Road."

Hhhmmmmm, will you even watch this sequel when it comes out? As I've said before, a "Mad Max" film without Mel Gibson is like an "Indiana Jones" movie without Harrison Ford!

Spike TV's 2009 Scream Awards: star-studded and surreal

28 October 2009 3:24 PM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

I don't know if you caught last night's 2009 Scream Awards on Spike TV last night. But if you didn't, then you missed out on one of the strangest parades of Hollywood back-patting ever staged. For those unfamiliar with this new heir to the Oscars and the Golden Globes, the Scream Awards are ostensibly all about celebrating the best in sci-fi, fantasy, and horror on both the big and the small screen. And just to show that the event is even cooler than the MTV Movie Awards, the categories honor such superlatives as Best Horror Movie, Best Villain, and my personal favorite, »

"Mad Max 4" in the Works But Where's Mel Gibson?

27 October 2009 11:06 AM, PDT | Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news »

The fourth film in the "Mad Max" franchise, to be called "Fury Road," is set to go into production in Sydney and New South Wales next year.

George Miller will produce the film which by the way, is reportedly going to cost $100 million! Yes, $100 million for a "Mad Max" film, isn't that insane?

But right now, there's no studio backing for the fourth film yet, and Mel Gibson, the original Max, is not attached to the movie.

Say what you will about Gibson, but a "Mad Max" film without him is like having an "Indiana Jones" movie without Harrison Ford.

I also heard that Miller is currently in production on "Happy Feet 2." I enjoyed the first one, here's hoping this one's great. »

Can Keira Break the Hepburn Curse?

26 October 2009 9:08 AM, PDT | t5m.com | See recent t5m.com news »

There are few Hollywood starlets that I rate more highly than marginally spade-faced Keira Knightley, and of all late actresses I am fairly unoriginal in my fondness for Audrey Hepburn, so the rumours quite some time ago that Knightley has signed up to fill Hepburn’s shoes in a planned remake of My Fair Lady is, for me, great news. The whispers around the project died down though, until today when stories have begun circulating that Joe Wright, director of Knightley in Pride and Prejudice and the amazing Atonement, is also set to be involved. So Audrey Hepburn is back, but unlike Audrey, Keira’s vocals won’t be dubbed if her singing in last year’s The Edge of Love  is anything to go by. The problem seems to be, however, whether or not any individual can ever truly succeed in a performance that has been done to perfection already, »

The Next X-Men Films Part Two: Deadpool, Magneto

25 October 2009 4:57 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

A few days back, we put up part one of “The Next X-Men Films” series, our look into the future of Fox Studio’s growing and financially successful movie series based on Marvel’s mighty mutants. This was based on quotes from Empire’s recent feature on Lauren Shuler Donner, producer of all films X-Men related, and today we’ll look at the other two anticipated films she spoke about.

In Part One we discussed Wolverine 2, the most-likely-to-happen solo flick out of Fox’s development slate as well as X-Men: First Class, the prequel to Bryan Singer’s first X-Men which is currently in its writing stages with Josh Schwartz penning the script.

Now, it’s time to look at two other popular character solo movies that are in early stages of development: Deadpool and X-Men Origins: Magneto. One of these is likely to happen, one may not.

Star Trek’s Chris Pine to be the next Jack Ryan?

24 October 2009 3:21 PM, PDT | The Scorecard Review | See recent Scorecard Review news »

Star Trek lead actor Chris Pine is considering commandeering another franchise from Paramount – one that was previously led by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and most recently Ben Affleck.

According to Variety, the actor who played the newest version of James T. Kirk is in negotiations to be the next Jack Ryan in a series that has already spanned four films (The Hunt For Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, and The Sum of All Fears).

He is also in talks to work with Disturbia director D.J Caruso on a new project titled The Art of Making Money, which is set to start shooting early next year.

The next Jack Ryan film is in development, with producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mace Neufeld working on an original script by Hossein Amini, who used his original concept (the new project will not use a Tom Clancy novel directly, apparently »

Oscar... Now With More Spirit Fingers

Shankman's got spirit!

Do you follow the Oscar show news in the way you follow the Oscars? I don't so much, despite this life I lead constantly writin' about the awards themselves. I care who hosts to some degree but I tend to ignore the rest. But I found it interesting this week when director Adam Shankman (Hairspray) was named as one of the producers and his choreography skills were noted as a reason to be enthused about this assignment. At least he has a sense of humor about his, um, limited history with the big event I was one of Paula Abdul's 'Under the Sea' pirates," Shankman said. "The last time I was at the Oscars, I was in Lycra, with a pirate hat on. Shankman's presence must mean more musical numbers. I'm all for musical numbers provided they rehire Hugh Jackman as host. He was so fine last year. »

'Star Wars' To Venture Into 3-D Territory?

An source insists a new trilogy is being planned and will be shot in 3-D, but interviews with George Lucas make the possibility seem unlikely.

While a Sarlacc may take over a thousand years to fully digest its prey, the pop-culture news cycle has proven once again to be the complete opposite — devouring and spitting out a new rumor about the "Star Wars" series in less than 24 hours this week. But what makes fans think there would be a new trilogy in the first place? And where should the most successful movie franchise of all time go from here?

The hijinks began Wednesday evening (October 21), when 3-d-movie-focused blog MarketSaw reported that it had an internal source who'd infiltrated the trusted circle of George Lucas like Princess Leia in a Boushh costume. Scream Awards 2009: A Report From Front Row Center

21 October 2009 7:42 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

This past Saturday, October 17th, I attended my second year of Spike TV’s annual Scream Awards. Not only did I attend, but I had been hand-picked by the casting director to sit front row center for the show! As a fan-focused awards show, it’s much more enjoyable being seated amongst Jj Abrams, Karl Urban, Elijah Wood and Woody Harrelson. My favorite personal surprise of the evening came when the Best Science Fiction Actress nominees were being announced. I cheered (maybe a little too loudly for my girlfriend’s tastes) for Eliza Dushku when her name was announced, only to discover she was sitting right in front of me. She turned around and flashed me her lovely smile. Good thing my girlfriend isn’t the overly-jealous type.

As for the show itself, it seems as though the winners have already been leaked online, and the best surprises have been revealed, »
