In between July and September 2009, AceShowbiz reviewed there were scandals, run-in with the laws, deaths, marriages, awards shows, rants and many other things that happened. Those major events were summarized in form of kaleidoscope, which covers occurrences in music, TV, movie, and celebrities' personal life.
Joy and grief blended all together in the third quarter of 2009, a period of which witnessed A-list celebrities' break-up, marriages, and sudden death among the most highlighted issues. Some famous figures celebrated their milestones in the universe with the arrival of new members into their families, the others mourned the lost of loved ones, while the rest attempted to build a brand new chapter in life.

The problem with the thriller is that formalists like Brian De Palma and Bryan Singer have spoiled them for normal people and critics. We expect our genre entries to confound us, or at the very east to be deconstructions of the genre. Forget dramatic irony, we want expert sequences, and tension to abound. And so David Twohy deserves some credit for what he attempts in A Perfect Getaway. He is aware of genre constructs and addresses them, but he does so in such a way that when he removes the tablecloth and the plates are still standing, no one’s so much impressed as ready for the third act. My review of A Perfect Getaway after the jump, jump (please continue).

It's the last week of 2009, and there's a surprisingly rich assortment of DVDs and Blu-rays hitting store shelves on Tuesday, December 29th. From Shane Acker's magical 9 to Megan Fox's portrayal of Jennifer and her magical Body, there's a little something for everyone, including a Getaway with the almost Perfect Milla Jovovich.
Viewers can finally see if they agree with the general consensus that Carriers was given the shaft by being dumped onto DVD with no theatrical release. But best of all ... those who missed Paranormal Activity's record-setting theatrical run will finally have the chance to see what all the fuss is about as our "pick of the week" hits home video in a whopping three different versions.
There's even more to explore such as the intriguing sounding Evil Offspring, The First 7th Night from Hong Kong, and a South Korean version of Hansel and Gretel. Round it »

The first decade of the new millennium has come to an end, and that means it is now time for film sites all over the web to begin posting their various retrospectives and lists recalling the decade that was. I generally as a rule dislike such lists because they are always so subjective. Then I said screw it and took it upon myself to do one of my own naming the ten worst horror movies of the past decade. Besides, people love bitching on the Internet about lists like this, and who am I to deny readers yet another excuse to get into pointless flame wars over personal opinions.
Of course, this list is just my personal opinion which is not legally binding ... unless Proposition 304 passes. And we all pray that it will.
I set two rules when putting this list together: Only horror movies that received fairly wide theatrical »

I've sort of lost track of this project since it was first announced as a possible The Deer Hunter reunion between Robert De and Meryl Streep. A lot has changed since this first announcement. De Niro and Edward Norton remained on board but the supporting actresses were changed for Frances Conroy and Milla Jovovich. Today, John Curran's dramatic-thriller has a confirmed release next year with Overture swooping up domestic rights. - I've sort of lost track of this project since it was first announced as a possible The Deer Hunter reunion between Robert De and Meryl Streep. Did you miss The Fourth Kind in theatres? Too bad. Yes, it was kind of hokey and, if believed, totally proves the existence of aliens, but it was damned fun.
If you missed all the spooky, you'll be able to check it out on DVD and Blu-ray on March 16th, 2010. Thanks to Joey Monda and Video Eta for the tip-off.
Synopsis
In 1972 a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document...until now.
Structured unlike any film before it, The Fourth Kind is a provocative thriller set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where — mysteriously since »

So Resident Evil: Afterlife isn't moving, eh Milla Jovovich?
Scratch that. It's official.
Jovovich has reversed her claim that the Afterlife push wasn't official and announced the schedule change on her Twitter account.
Re Afterlife will most likely b released jan '11.
yes, new Re film coming in jan> 2011!
ShockTillYouDrop confirmed the change, having received Sony Screen Gems updated release schedule, so instead of its original August 27, 2010 release date, Resident Evil: Afterlife's will now open on January 14, 2011, which means that the 3-D sequel will open next to another horror 3-D movie, the Joss Whedon scripted Cabin in the Woods. That's a lot of 3-D glasses for horror fans in a single weekend, so don't expect this duo to stay on the same weekend. »

Days ago, Milla Jovovich told fans via her Twitter account that Resident Evil: Afterlife's rumored move from its August 27, 2010 release date to January 14, 2011, was "not official" but, apparently, that has changed. Jovovich announced to the Twitterverse that Afterlife is indeed moving.

Several websites have received an updated release schedule from Sony Screen Gems, Afterlife's distributor, confirming the release date of January 14, 2011. The move will pit Afterlife against fellow 3-D movie Cabin in the Woods, which will also be targeted for horror fans.
Taking Afterlife's place on August 27 will be Priest, the comic book adaptation starring Paul Bettany.

Yesterday, we updated a story from earlier yesterday about Resident Evil: Afterlife. It was strongly rumored that the movie was having production issues stemming from the incorpororation of 3-D and would be pushed into 2011 from August 2010. Milla Jovovich Tweeted that it hadn't happened, but then it did. And that was our update: Afterlife is now January 14, 2011.
There was more news from Sony yesterday, too, as the studio announced a release date for The Social Network. Coming Soon reports that October 15, 2010 is the perfect time to find out more about the history of Facebook. The film is an odd mix: Facebook + screenwriter Aaron Sorkin + director David Fincher + Zombieland's Jesse Eisenberg + Justin Timberlake.
The movie is currently in production (it got underway in October), and under normal circumstances, I'd say that's plenty of time. Besides, studios always unveil their annual schedule so that, well, so that they can have a schedule. »

It seems that fans have to wait a little longer to see Milla Jovovich's Alice returning to big screen. Despite the actress' claim that "Resident Evil: Afterlife" was still scheduled for an August 27, 2010 release date, Screen Gems has provided several sites with a release schedule which mentions that the film is now slated to hit theaters on January 14, 2011. To fill the empty slot, the studio has moved up vampire thriller "Priest" starring Paul Bettany from its original release date on October 1, 2010.
As it has been reported before, the reason for the delay is to give more time to director Paul W.S. Anderson to complete the fourth installment of "Resident Evil" film franchise in post-production. With the new release date, this upcoming zombie movie will compete with MGM's thriller "The Cabin in the Woods", which was pushed back from 2010 so it can be formatted for 3D.

Not many people have attempted to manipulate Robert De Niro (or the characters he plays, rather) and succeeded. In fact, has anyone even tried to manipulate De Niro at all? With his creepy laughs and intimidating demeanor, I wouldn.t want to have dinner with the dude, much less try to make him the butt of a diabolical plan. But that.s what Ed Norton is up to. According to Variety, Overture Films has picked up Us distribution rights to Stone, a new film starring Robert De Niro, Edward Norton, and Milla Jovovich. The film will have Norton playing a convicted arsonist who attempts to manipulate his parole officer in order to ensure his parole. How does he do that? By offering up his super hot wife of course, played by Jovovich. The film is directed by John Curran and written by Junebug.s Angus MacLachlan. This sounds like a »

Here's proof that stars don't know what the heck they're talking about (no offense Milla), but Milla Jovovich was pretty adamant about the fact that Sony Screen Gems' date change for Resident Evil: Afterlife wasn't set in stone. Well it was. Screen Gems is moving the Paul W.S. Anderson directed 3-D sequel from its August, 2010 date all the way to January 14, 2011 (boo!). The reason for the shift is to allow more time to complete the zombie flick in post-production. In addition, Screen Gems moved Priest from its October 2010 slot up to August 27, 2010 - just before dump month. Does this mean we should be scared? Click either title above for more info on each. »

Looks like Resident Evil: Afterlife's August 27, 2010 release date may be in jeopardy.
Reports began circulating yesterday that the sequel would be pushed back to a January 14, 2011 release date to allow director Paul W.S. Anderson enough time complete the complicated 3-D post-production process. Milla Jovovich updated fans on her Twitter account, saying that the move was not official.
Re Afterlife Is Not officially pushed. There have been talks of pushing it as they r not sure they can have it ready by july.
We r trying as hard as we can to still meet the summer deadline though, so for the moment its still on for Aug.
Should the move happen, Resident Evil: Afterlife would share the release date with Joss Whedon's Cabin in the Woods, which has also been delayed so that it could be released in 3-D. While more theaters will likely have 3-D capability by early »
