The first decade of the new millennium has come to an end, and that means it is now time for film sites all over the web to begin posting their various retrospectives and lists recalling the decade that was. I generally as a rule dislike such lists because they are always so subjective. Then I said screw it and took it upon myself to do one of my own naming the ten worst horror movies of the past decade. Besides, people love bitching on the Internet about lists like this, and who am I to deny readers yet another excuse to get into pointless flame wars over personal opinions.
Of course, this list is just my personal opinion which is not legally binding ... unless Proposition 304 passes. And we all pray that it will.
I set two rules when putting this list together: Only horror movies that received fairly wide theatrical »

Mark Wahlberg kept bursting into tears off-set while making 'The Lovely Bones'. The actor found the experience of shooting the film - about a murdered girl looking down on her family in limbo - so emotional that it also affected his home life. Mark is "still learning to juggle" the emotions of his role as Jack Salmon, the father of the murdered girl. The soon to be father-of-four said: "I would just grab my daughter and hold her, and I would start crying. "She'd be like, 'Daddy, what's wrong?' She just wanted to play. "I would try to talk to her about taking care of herself and not talking to strangers. "She was three at the time. But, thankfully, I »

The movie, which is about a murdered girl looking down on her family, had such an impact on him, he would often times come home depressed. “I would just grab my daughter and hold her, and I would start crying,” said the soon to be father-of-four. “She’d be like, ‘Daddy, what’s wrong?’ She just wanted to play. “I would try to talk to her about taking care of herself and not talking to strangers. The subject matter of The Lovely Bones was disturbing for millions of parents, but for the actors charged with the task of bringing the bestselling book to life, even more so.
Mark Wahlberg — a soon-to-be father-of-four — praises costar Rachel Weisz for her ability to “just snap into it and have these floods of emotion coming out and then turn it all off.” By contrast, Mark says that because of the way he approaches his job “he had to live in that head space for the entire time.”
That much was evident when he would return home after »

In case you didn't know, Will Ferrell is kind of a big deal. That must be why he's gracing my television screen nearly every day this holiday season (thanks to numerous Elf showings) and my New York Times. If you checked out yesterday's Times, you might have been just a bit confused to see a wedding announcement paired with a photo of a smiling couple -- and someone who appeared to be photobombing the pic. No, it wasn't crasher squirrel. It was Will Ferrell himself, who decided to appear in the portrait of the couple, who are both production assistants. »

Those who watch HBO's Entourage should remember that back in 2006 the show dreamt up a fictional scenario that had its star, Vince (Adrian Grenier), suiting up to play Aquaman in a film that was directed by none other than James Cameron. The director briefly popped up in a few episodes, and for awhile afterwards there was actually talk of Cameron and/or Mark Wahlberg (who executive produces Entourage) putting together a real Aquaman movie. Of course that never happened, but the Aquaman subplot -- and subsequent real-life movie rumors -- really did help increase the show's popularity, as well as paved the way for many more celebrity and filmmaker cameos (in this past season Vince finished a Great Gatsby remake helmed by Martin Scorsese).
But for this particular post, we're gonna travel back to June 18, 2006, which is the original air date for "One Day in the Valley". The episode revolved around Aquaman's opening weekend, »

We've talked a lot about the shortcomings of this season of "Saturday Night Live," but this past weekend's show was as funny and provocative as the series was at its peak. It was helped along by host James Franco, who has experience with comedy and improvisation. But the writing on Saturday night (December 19) was also top-notch, with a delightfully deranged digital short, the return of Andy Samberg's Mark Wahlberg impression and the funniest "Weekend Update" in ages, thanks mostly to Bobby Moynihan's turn as Snooki from "Jersey Shore."
As Snooki, Moynihan discussed "Jersey Shore" with "Weekend Update" host Seth Meyers. He was dressed in a terrible poof wig, was covered in orange make-up and was exposing his chest hair for the duration of the interview, which made for a very funny physical gag. But the jokes were great too, including the incredible kicker, which saw Snooki suggest that »

Late last week, the Valley Independent Sentinel in Connecticut reported on casting for Antoine Fuqua's Prisoners project which is supposed to start shooting in Derby and Shelton, Connect. next February. The paper talks about casting 750 extras for the film and shooting in the city. They also mention that "local officials said they’ve been told Hugh Jackman is attached to the movie." Originally we had heard rumors about Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale being attached, but when Fuqua took over, I thought he dumped that old cast. Could Jackman be the first big actor cast in Fuqua's version? I'd be very happy if this is true. Prisoners, written by newcomer Aaron Guzikowski, is a dark tale about a man who, after his daughter and her friend are kidnapped and the cops fail to solve the crime, takes matters into his own hands, holding hostage the person he suspects committed the crime. »

Lindsay Lohan's father, Michael, believes Leonardo DiCaprio is a good influence on his daughter. Lohan said there is nothing going on between the pair, who were spotted at the same private party last week. He said: 'They have been friends for years. Mark Wahlberg, Robert Downey Jr., Leonardo DiCaprio and a few others - I think they have a lot of positive things to offer.' Lohan said he believed they were a 'lot more stable' than many of the people in Lindsay's life. He has been on a self-styled 'tough love' campaign to keep Lindsay from going off the deep end into what he alleges is her problem self-prescribed drug use. This has included »

Will Ferrell made a cameo in the New York Times' wedding announcements on Sunday, in a newlywed couple's photo. Jessie Fuller and Buck Rodgers met as production assistants and one works on an upcoming Ferrell movie. From the announcement: He is a production assistant on the film "The Other Guys," with Will Ferrell (who made a cameo appearance in the couple's photo) and Mark Wahlberg, which is shooting in New York. Ferrell also appears for a few seconds in the couple's video for the Nyt website. The third person is not technically against the paper's stringent photo requirements, but the couple's off-eyebrow height may be. The photo rules, posted here, read as follows: Our policy on photographs has changed. While we continue to include formal portraits of couples and individual brides, we also include full-length images of brides in wedding dresses, as well as informal »
