For real, 2009 has been the Year of the Twitter. Says so right here in the Chinese calendar. What happened was actual celebrities, for some reason, started microblogging their lunch plans, C-sections and bikini pics just like they were...regular people or something. Lindsay Lohan Blackberried her life one manic twitpic at a time. Kirstie Alley unloaded on everyone. Dita Von Teese and Taylor Swift had nothing in common. Ashton Kutcher beat CNN to 1 million followers, and Kim Kardashian overshared in the most adorable ways. Oh, and Miley quit and Oprah fizzled. So we won't even count them. The main film this weekend is Avatar and that's obvious, but there are a few films opening in limited release to begin discussing as they will be expanding further in the coming weeks. Let's get to it.
Avatar It's the talk of the Internet and I am anxiously awaiting box-office returns. I hope this film will be a big hit because it's a lot of fun. Unfortunately I had to skip a second screening of it last night to finish up writing this weekend's reviews or I would be able to say I've seen it twice. I expect most of the regular movie fans that frequent film sites such as RopeofSilicon.com will be sure to check this one out this weekend and I can't wait to hear what everyone thinks.
This film is rated PG-13 for intense epic battle sequences and warfare, sensuality, language and some smoking. Click Here »

Sorry, Kirstie Alley. It seems the Free Roman Polanski Brigade has won out. Or has it? The Swiss Criminal Court today accepted the Oscar-winning filmmaker's $4.5 million cash bail deal that would allow him to leave a Zurich jail for house arrest and electronic monitoring at his Swiss chalet. Naturally, Swiss authorities aren't so keen on the idea of letting their prize catch go, given his history of running from the law. Two previous requests by his attorneys were rejected outright. This time, however, the price was right. While the justice minister says he won't appeal the bail decision, the 72-year-old The Pianist director will be under close watch as officials continue weighing whether »

• The View ladies laughed uncomfortably at an awkward rape joke made by Modern Family's Sofia Vergara. It's the most uncomfortable 22 seconds of TV we've seen in a while, and this letter sums up everything they need to hear. • Carmen Electra worked really hard making this (Nsfw) naked tape, and she'd really appreciated if you could take three minutes out of your day to watch it. • Just so you know, this is your Sexiest Man Alive. Thought we'd keep you updated. • Looks like Kirstie Alley hates Conan O'Brien more than our own Mr. Josh, which is comforting to know. • Everyone have an extra shot of barley milk tonight in honor »

Conan O'Brien should watch out when he makes fat jokes. Kirstie Alley, now filming a reality series about her current weight loss venture and working on a line of products, went after the "Tonight Show" host on Twitter in a tweeted conversation with Star Jones, part of which is below. She says he "acts like I bit his dick off" and refers to him as Conan O'Bitch O'Brian [sic]. It's not the first time she's slammed him, as she also did back in July. Star: Like I don't know what it is to be called Fat, Ugly & Lazy. Hell...people called me that on TV & in print! I'm not preaching...I'm sharing! Kirstie: What!!!! Someone Out There "Actually" Makes Fun Of Fat Celebrities? Nooooooo!!!!! I'm Shocked!!!! lol Star: 1st laugh this morning! You Nut. Lol Kirstie: I'll tell you One Bitch I'm gonna knck [sic] »

Cancelling "Dollhouse" disappointed a lot of Joss Whedon fans when Fox announced that it had pulled the plug, but Eliza Dushku felt the brunt of the decision as hard as anyone. She faced her Twitter followers with the news today and a sad smiley.
Mike Tyson, meanwhile, reportedly faced a paparazzo, landing at least one good punch, and Kirstie Alley has his back in Twitter-Wood. There were a few great pics today in the feed, too, including a shot from MoMA's new Tim Burton exhibit and Sarah Silverman's birthday tribute to her show's multi-talented producer, director and writer Rob Schrab, better known to any comic book readers out there as the creator of "Scud: The Disposable Assassin." Check those out after the jump and find out which "Twilight" actor visiting Alex Rodriguez's home. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for November 12, 2009.

"Fat Actress" star Kirstie Alley, 58, once again uses her yoyo weight issues to contrive yet another show about her shedding her massive weight gain. Showtime was home to "Fat Actress," a short-lived 2005 series that saw Kirstie Alley battle weight and Hollywood. Alley then secured a lucrative Jenny Craig spokesperson deal that had the comedic actress reveal a svelte 175 pound bikini-clad body to Oprah Winfrey's audience in 2006.
