14 hours ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The past two weeks have been an absolute whirlwind for Star Wars fans, and things are just getting started.

With The Last Jedi‘s full-length trailer now out in the open, the Internet is awash with speculation and far-flung rumors, not to mention some fairly convincing theories drawn from the footage itself. In case you missed it, be sure to have a gander at our own trailer analysis, which cherry-picks eight crucial moments and examines what they could mean for The Last Jedi, the untitled Episode IX, and beyond.

But one thing that people haven’t really been talking about yet is just how much money the sequel’s going to make. Of course, it’s expected to open big – very big, actually – but will it top The Force Awakens? And how will it stack up against Rogue One? We’ll have to wait until December to find out the exact answers to those questions, »

Indiana Jones Voted Greatest Movie Character of All Time

23 hours ago | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

There have been a ton of great movie characters in the history of film, but only one can be the best. According to a new poll, we now know who people feel that character is. Harrison Ford's iconic, whip cracking, snake fearing adventurer Indiana Jones was recently named the greatest movie character of all time, according to a poll conducted by Total Film Magazine. Jones is someone who should definitely place in the top 5, but coming out on top of a poll like this is pretty impressive.

The poll also features another iconic Harrison Ford character, with Han Solo coming in third place. Though, it's easy to imagine that he could have just as easily taken the top spot. Batman, with no particular Batman being mentioned, came in second place. The first female character on the list is Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley from the Alien franchise, who placed fourth. »

David Fincher Recalls Passing Up The Chance To Direct A Star Wars Sequel

20 October 2017 6:42 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

David Fincher is not known for operating within Hollywood’s franchises – remember, Alien 3 almost forced the director into an early retirement. But it turns out Fincher was almost drawn to the biggest franchise of the lot.

While appearing on a recent instalment of the Empire Podcast (via Collider), the esteemed filmmaker recalled the moment when he passed up the chance to direct a Star Wars sequel for Lucasfilm. Fincher stopped short of mentioning any specifics – was it The Last Jedi, for instance? Or one of the studio’s forthcoming anthology pics? – only that he “talked” with producer Kathleen Kennedy about what he considers to be a “plum assignment.”

But while the thought of signing on for Lucasfilm’s faraway galaxy is tempting, David Fincher pointed to the heightened expectations that come hand-in-hand with a modern blockbuster. And, well, let’s just say Star Wars is on another level in that respect. »

What Scares David Fincher Most About Directing a Star Wars Movie?

19 October 2017 5:47 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Can you imagine what a David Fincher Star Wars movie would look like? It turns out, Lucasfilm wanted to know, but it's never going to happen. That's right, David Fincher did indeed meet with Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy at one point about directing a Star Wars movie, but he passed on the opportunity because it scared him. Here's what he had to say about it.

"No, I talked to [producer Kathleen Kennedy] about that and look, it's a plum assignment. I don't know what's worse: being George Lucas on the set of the first one where everyone's going, 'Alderaan? What the hell is this?' Where everyone's making fun, but I can't imagine the kind of intestinal fortitude one has to have following up the success of these last two. That's a whole other level. One is that you have to endure the withering abuse of Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, and the »

18 October 2017 5:05 PM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Laura Dern says she thought she was "one of the lucky ones."

During a Wednesday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 50-year-old actress opened up about being honored at Elle's 24th Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration, and the important conversation about sexual harassment that occurred at the event.

"A very interesting thing happened this morning, which was I woke up and I realized that in that space, I talked about how I was one of the lucky ones because I was raised by actors who told me their stories and told me what to look out for, and I realized that I was still justifying behavior," Dern told DeGeneres. "It was my mom who said, 'No, no, no, Laura. That was sexual assault. That was harassment, that was assault. No, you were 14 then.'"

"You realize how, in our culture, we have justifying and therefore even condoned behavior as though it's the norm," she continued. "And I »

Star Wars Newcomer Laura Dern Shares Another Image Of Her Resistance Leader Ahead Of The Last Jedi

18 October 2017 10:02 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

So much attention has been paid to the core pillars of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (see: Snoke, Rey, Luke and Kylo Ren) that it’s almost easy to forget that Rian Johnson’s forthcoming sequel is about to canonize two major new human characters: DJ and Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo.

Brought to life by Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern, respectively, the two franchise newcomers are literally worlds apart. DJ, for instance, is best described as an “enigmatic figure” replete with a “lackadaisical attitude.” What we do know is that he’s an expert codebreaker, and will seemingly factor into Finn and Rose’s mission aboard Canto Bight.

Holdo, on the other hand, is a high-ranking member of the Resistance. And a well-dressed one at that. Seen here in political attire, Laura Dern’s pink-haired leader looks to be addressing a small pool of Resistance fighters, along with a never-before-seen Bb unit. »

Andy Serkis Says Colin Trevorrow’s Exit From Star Wars Was An Agreeable Parting

17 October 2017 1:16 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

With his own directorial debut – the biographical drama, Breathe – about to arrive in cinemas, prolific performer Andy Serkis is making himself available to the press for promotional purposes. As a cast member in some of the biggest movie franchises currently being made, however, those conversations inevitably stray into non-Breathe territory – and one such topic to be covered is his role as Supreme Leader Snoke in the Star Wars saga.

When the mysterious villain first appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he sent fans into a frenzy of speculation – wondering who he is, and where he comes from. While Serkis himself has stated that he does indeed have the answers to those questions, he is also, understandably, sworn to secrecy by Lucasfilm.

Though the character features prominently in the latest trailer for The Last Jedi, it’s the fact that Star Wars: Episode IX will now be helmed by »

She told Tucson radio program “The Morning Mix” that after an unnamed “Oscar-winning” producer at Sony assaulted her, Fisher went on a revenge mission of her own to defend her friend by hand delivering a cow tongue to her assaulter.

“It was a cow tongue from Jerry’s Famous Deli with a note that said, ‘If you ever touch my darling Heather or any other woman again, the next delivery will be something of yours in a much smaller box,'” Ross said. “It felt validating to know that this woman, who I love as a friend, was not just a fake Hollywood friend. »

Carrie Fisher has been a beacon of hope for many who couldn't speak up for themselves out of shame or fear and she continues to do so even after her death.
