Both The First Order And The Resistance Will Fear Poe In Star Wars: The Last Jedi

11 hours ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

He’s the best damn pilot in the galaxy – not this one, mind you, but Disney’s galaxy far, far away – and after spearheading the Resistance assault on Starkiller Base two years ago, it’s been revealed that by the time Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in December, Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) will be “shining as a leader of a courageous flying battalion.”

Or at least, that’s what a translation of the official Japanese Star Wars site points to, as it’s given us some new character bios today, which outline what all the main players will be up to by the time Rian Johnson’s much anticipated sequel rolls into theatres. For Poe in particular, here’s what it said (and keep in mind that this is just a rough translation):

David Fincher on turning down Star Wars, offers brief World War Z 2 update

21 hours ago | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Filmmaker David Fincher has been pretty active on the press rounds lately as he promotes his acclaimed new Netflix series Mindhunter. Recently, he shared his thoughts on Marvel Studios and how he feels it makes it challenging for directors to tell complex stories, and now he’s been talking to Empire about another Disney-owned franchise in Star Wars, revealing that he passed up the opportunity to head to the galaxy far, far away.

“I talked to [producer Kathleen Kennedy] about that and look, it’s a plum assignment,” said Fincher. “I don’t know what’s worse: being George Lucas on the set of the first one where everyone’s going, ‘Alderaan? What the hell is this?’ Where everyone’s making fun, but I can’t imagine the kind of intestinal fortitude one has to have following up the success of these last two. That’s a whole other level. One is that »

22 October 2017 11:00 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Though Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League have yet to open, there's little to no disagreement amongst box office prognosticators that 2017's box office king will be Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Of course it will be. It's marketing thus far as been predictably excellent, including the latest trailer that threw in a number of possible plot twists that range from Daisy Ridley's Rey being tempted by the dark side and a face-off between Adam Driver's Kylo Ren and his mother (Carrie Fisher). For more than 40 years, the late, great Carrie Fisher was championed as a cornerstone of Lucasfilm’s Star Wars universe, and her tragic death left the franchise’s impassioned community in a state of mourning.

Tributes poured out from across the industry, and with The Last Jedi inching ever closer to its December release date, fans are curious to see General Leia Organa on screen for the final time. Indeed, Fisher’s series mainstay is said to hold a fairly substantial role in Rian Johnson’s forthcoming sequel, though contrary to online rumors – rumors which claimed Disney had drawn up plans to digitally recreate the late actress for Star Wars: Episode IX – the Mouse House has since made it crystal clear that it has no plans to bring back Princess/General Organa through the power of visual effects.

According to The Wrap, The Last Jedi is tracking a domestic opening weekend of $215 million, which would put it ahead of the $208.8 million debut of 2016’s Jurassic World for the second biggest bow of all time. Top spot is currently held by its predecessor Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which pulled in $247.9 million across its opening weekend on its way to becoming the biggest North American release of all time with $936.6 million.

David Fincher Didn’t Direct ‘The Force Awakens’ Because He Couldn’t Handle the ‘Abuse of Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher’

21 October 2017 10:02 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Like a lot of other filmmakers, David Fincher almost directed a “Star Wars” movie. Long ago, before J.J. Abrams was tasked with helming “The Force Awakens,” the “Social Network” and “Seven” director was in contention to reawaken the franchise — but ultimately wasn’t interested in doing so. Among his reasons, he reveals in an Empire interview, were financial pressure and “the withering abuse of Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.”

The past two weeks have been an absolute whirlwind for Star Wars fans, and things are just getting started.

With The Last Jedi‘s full-length trailer now out in the open, the Internet is awash with speculation and far-flung rumors, not to mention some fairly convincing theories drawn from the footage itself. In case you missed it, be sure to have a gander at our own trailer analysis, which cherry-picks eight crucial moments and examines what they could mean for The Last Jedi, the untitled Episode IX, and beyond.

But one thing that people haven’t really been talking about yet is just how much money the sequel’s going to make. Of course, it’s expected to open big – very big, actually – but will it top The Force Awakens? And how will it stack up against Rogue One? We’ll have to wait until December to find out the exact answers to those questions, »

Indiana Jones Voted Greatest Movie Character of All Time

There have been a ton of great movie characters in the history of film, but only one can be the best. According to a new poll, we now know who people feel that character is. Harrison Ford's iconic, whip cracking, snake fearing adventurer Indiana Jones was recently named the greatest movie character of all time, according to a poll conducted by Total Film Magazine. Jones is someone who should definitely place in the top 5, but coming out on top of a poll like this is pretty impressive.

The poll also features another iconic Harrison Ford character, with Han Solo coming in third place. Though, it's easy to imagine that he could have just as easily taken the top spot. Batman, with no particular Batman being mentioned, came in second place. The first female character on the list is Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley from the Alien franchise, who placed fourth. »
