I saw this on Cinematical and had to post it as out Cool post because its the perfect little piece of fanboy marketing that makes me smile.
In New Zealand there is a billboard marketing their TV2 airing of Mary Harron’s film, American Psycho. The picture below is advertising the Bret Easton Ellis adaptation starring Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman and Jared Leto, Josh Lucas, Justin Theroux, Bill Sage, Chloë Sevigny, Reese Witherspoon, Willem Dafoe, and Samantha Mathis. The billboard takes on the classic business card scene we all know and I love:
“The Perfect Billboard. Eggshell white with romalian type. Nice. Raised lettering, a subtle 7 inch bone border, and just look at the tasteful thickness of the headline. All perched on four evenly spaced 3.2 metre powder coated stanchions. My god, it even has a watermark.”
Nothing better than some yuppy dudes comparing business card quality and style. American Psycho »

Reasons I'd move to New Zealand: ridiculously beautiful landscape, sheep, the Thompson Twins and this awesome American Psycho billboard TV2 erected for an upcoming TV airing of Mary Harron's film.

Clever work on some film geek's part. I hope people will actually take the time to read the damn thing. Pick up the American Psycho Blu-ray here, »

While the TV airing of a 10 year old film isn't exactly "news", this promotional advertisement for an upcoming TV airing of Mary Harron's American Psycho on New Zealand station TV2 was too cool not to share with our devoted readers and fellow horror enthusiasts. The Hollywood Reporter Live Feed Blog pointed out the billboard that was erected to showcase the classic business card scene. Granted, if you've never seen the movie, the billboard will probably make no sense. However, if you have, it's a pretty cool and unique way to promote the movie's TV airing. Based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel, American Psycho stars Christian Bale, Justin Theroux, Josh Lucas, Chloë Sevigny, Reese Witherspoon, Samantha Mathis, Jared Leto and Willem Dafoe. It made our Top 25 of the »

I've got good news and bad news, video game fans. The good news is that a "Space Invader" film is on the way. The bad news is that it has no connection whatsoever to the classic arcade game.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Iron Man 2" screenwriter Justin Theroux is set to pen "Space Invader," Fox's astronaut romantic comedy that has nothing to do with shooting down wave after wave of aggressive alien aircrafts via joystick and button mashing. Instead, "Space Invader" focuses on a man who goes to space after suspecting that his astronaut girlfriend is cheating on him with a fellow astronaut.
Don't get me wrong, this "Space Invader" premise is pretty funny, and Will Arnett's attachment to the lead role makes it even funnier. Still, why throw away the "Space Invaders" name on a romantic comedy, rather than reserving it for a future video game adaptation? »

1. Amanda Hearst. 2. Peter Davis, Alexander Mortimer, and Minnie Mortimer. 3. Andres and Lauren Santo Domingo. From PatrickMcMullan.com. "I lived in Sag Harbor for five years and it was never this cool, even in June," said designer Miguelina Gambaccini with a slight shiver as a Manhattan crowd descended upon the Surf Lodge, in Montauk, New York, for a dinner to honor Minnie Mortimer’s new womenswear collection. "I love the Felice Brothers," said Amanda Hearst of the folk and country rock band that was over at the Spin and Arizona beverages party on the adjoining deck. Also sipping mojitos and other summery cocktails were Minnie's husband, writer and director Stephen Gaghan, Samantha Mathis, Bettina Prentice, Nina Garcia, and members of the Mortimer clan (Topper and Alexander). As dinner was served, Andrew Saffir, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, and Andres and Lauren Santo Domingo slipped in and huddled under blankets to escape the breeze. »

Ten/Four Pictures will be bringing the horror audience two new films very soon. First of the two that is coming is really the first of the films that the founders produced together called "Order Of Chaos". That film stars Milo Ventimiglia, Rhys Coiro, Mimi Rogers and Samantha Mathis. "Order Of Chaos" chronicles the duplicitous relationship between a naive attorney (Coiro) and a neighbor-colleague (Ventimiglia) and their fierce competition to move up in the firm and get ahead in life. I'm going to assume that what they mean by getting "ahead in life" they mean murder. The second film that Ten/Four will be releasing is called "Lucky" and sounds more like it will fit in with the horror crowd. The movie is billed as a dark comedy directed by Gil Cates Jr. about a serial killer who »

Broadway veteran John Stamos and newcomer Anne Hathaway were among the stars who stepped out to present awards. Dolly Parton, Stockard Channing and Elton John took the stage, as well as Bret Michaels who injured himself during the big opening number. Order of Chaos was first discovered by us film news connoisseurs when that well oiled poster you see to the right dropped just a few months back. Back then, no one really knew what the film was about except that it was written and directed on a modest 1 million dollar budget by actor Vince Vieluf (Hysteria, Firewall). We were all dying to see traierage, and now we have it for ya!

Jane Fonda's return to Broadway has divided New York's theatre critics - who have described her performance as a terminally ill academic in 33 Variations as both "elegant" and "strained".
The Oscar-winner, 71, took to the stage in the Big Apple for the first time in 46 years on Monday, to star alongside Samantha Mathis and Colin Hanks in the Moises Kaufman play.
A star-studded audience, including Renee Zellweger, Dolly Parton, Geoffrey Rush and Rosie O'Donnell, rewarded the actress with a standing ovation - but the celebrity turnout wasn't enough to fully win over reviewers.
A critic for the New York Times put aside what is branded as a "clunky" opening to applaud Fonda for her "elegantly restrained" performance, while a Washington Post writer adds, "Fonda's agelessness owes something to both the longevity of her fame and the intensity of her struggle against physical decline... On this occasion, she not only manages to transcend time, but also the material."
But a reviewer for Backstage.com is more hesitant: "Her voice is occasionally strained, and she lacks the passion to make us care... Despite (co-star Zach) Grenier's robust performance and solid work from Samantha Mathis, Colin Hanks, Don Amendolia, Susan Kellermann, and Erik Steele, these Variations are on themes that are all-too-familiar."
Fonda made her Broadway debut in 1960 play There Was a Little Girl, earning her a Tony Award nomination for best featured actress, and her last stint came in 1963 drama Strange Interlude.
33 Variations is scheduled to run until 24 May. »

There's no reason why any of us should give a frog's thigh (that is the expression, right?) about a small film called Order Of Chaos. Director Vince Vieluf is a veteran character actor who's done the whole "CSI thing", and stars Rhys Coiro, Milo Ventimiglia, Samantha Mathis and Mimi Rogers are all pretty meh. Have you ever heard of a movie called Order of Chaos? I haven't either. However, that is all about to change. Thanks to the always awesome IMPAwards, we've got a first look at a poster for Order of Chaos. Seen on it is an odd and completely fascinating collection of items, ranging from an iPhone to a pistol to some pills to a pair of glasses to a wad of money. Even more odd is that the IMDb page for Order of Chaos lists no plot synopsis. So what exactly is this movie about? It's as if we're already part of a big mystery and now it's up to us to solve this puzzle on the poster. How's that for a fun little marketing gimmick? Order of Chaos stars Milo Ventimiglia, Rhys Coiro, Samantha Mathis, and Mimi Rogers. It was written and directed by Vince Vieluf on a $1 million budget »
