To bring us out of Halloween I thought I would do a daring deed and take on Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger in a no holds bared face off (literally) where I have watched the entire back catalogue of their films to determine once and for all who is champion slasher, Part 1 was on Jason, Part 2 is Michael Myers.
The three killers have haunted us through our childhoods with each horror legend bringing us movies which have completely terrified and equally bemused us with poor sequels and terrible plots
Beware pictures of blood and gore to follow.
Michael Myers is very similar to Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger in that nothing seems to kill him, but the big difference is that Michael Myers is the only non-supernatural monster out of the three, he is a killing machine that has been shot numerous times, blown up in fire, stabbed »

Actor Paul Anthony took some time to talk a little about his upcoming horror/comedy Suck, A rock’n’roll vampire spoof about a down and out band, The Winners, who will do anything for a record deal.
Dimitri Coats stars as Head Vampire Queeny in Suck.
When their disgruntled manager tells them that they are getting “long in the tooth”, he doesn’t know that his words are truly prophetic. During a road trip, their humdrum image radically changes when Jennifer, the bass player, disappears one night with a hip vampire. She emerges with a sexually charged charisma that drives the audiences wild.
As the band members succumb, one by one, to blood lust, their “gimmick” launches them into the limelight. In the interview with Anthony he talks about the plot of the upcoming film, working with a star studded cast including Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Malcolm McDowell, Dave Foley, »

Lots of Snow and Juggalos
Sometimes I go to a faraway convention and say to myself, “This was well worth the trip.” Whether it be a long flight or car trip (not interrupted by hitting a deer, preferably), with weather variables, travel obstacles and bleary-eyed exhaustion added to the mix, the convention at the center of it all pays off. Such was the case with the Rock and Shock Weekend in Worcester, Ma that I attended on October 18th. Even with one aborted interview, a wet snowstorm and a bevy of Juggalos, I can’t help but smile at the thought of this con.
Along for the ride were my cantankerous buddy John (he used to go by Brando) who I’ve known since high school, and a more recent friend Jonathan, who’s as much a staple on the circuit as some of the guests. Each of us had »

Director Robert Sigl, director of the Fango Video release School’S Out and the upcoming The Spider, sent along some exclusive pics and news on Hepzibah, a horror film he’s currently directing for German network ProSieben. The setting is “an ordinary town called Selmen which has become the bizarre scene of a most terrifying trend,” Sigl tells Fango.
“Seemingly happy girls are killing themselves on their 18th birthday,” he continues. “The video diaries of the dead girls lead our heroine Kirsten toward a dark secret hidden in the ruins of a medieval village recently rebuilt and reopened as a museum. An ancient curse has again surfaced, along with a ghostly figure seeking vengeance. Only three days remain for Kirsten to unravel the mystery before she herself turns 18, or she will become the next victim.”
Although made for German television, the film is being shot in English with leads Eleanor Tomlinson »

Like swallows to Capistrano, the zombies return to the Catalonian seaside resort of Sitges every October—at least they have since 1967—and their number keeps growing. The 42nd edition of the Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic was a breeding pool for all things undead or otherwise beyond mortal kin or consciousness. Yet, Hollywood entertainments like Zombieland or increasingly blah cult auteur franchises, like George A. Romero's Survival of the Dead, were merely early Halloween window-dressing for this kaleidoscopic Cannes of cinematic extremism.
The festival, which ran from Oct. 1-12 this year, celebrated the 30th anniversary of Alien and gave a career achievement award to Malcolm McDowell, likewise honoring Walter Hill, Ivan Reitman and the alarmingly vital octogenarian splatter king Herschell Gordon Lewis. (These may not always be so coveted. Last year, Abel Ferrara handed his trophy, a scale model of the Time Machine, to a hotel »

McDowell's cult status was solidified with his turn as Alex in Stanley Kubrick's disturbing 1971 classic A Clockwork Orange, while his role in 1982's Cat People (for which he graced the cover of Fangoria) made him a horror icon.
Recently, McDowell has been enjoying successes on both the big and small screens with television audiences regularly catching him as Daniel Linderman on Heroes, »

With their latest album, Somewhere On The Other Side Of Nowhere (listen here) released today, our coverage of the recent Powerman 5000 music video shoot concludes with an interview with Spider One...
On the set of Powerman 5000's video 'Supervillain', Spider One looks like a life-size action figure from a Japanese superhero cartoon. With his spiky hair, gauntlets and shirt, he stands out in a crowd.
"Spider is one of a kind," smiles wardrobe girl Autumn Steed. "Spider does his own thing, he's already styled!" Spider One laughs and gestures toward his chest emblem. "This shirt was a hand-sewn gift from a fan."
Pat Jankiewicz/Fango: You and Nicolas Cage both named yourselves after the Marvel Comic Luke Cage: Powerman...
Spider One: I know--i actually met Nicolas Cage. I said, 'Hey, Nicolas Cage--like Luke Cage! My band's Powerman 5000!' He was just like, 'Yeah'--like 'Okay, kid, run along. »

Icons resident staffer Mike Cucinotta recently noted that there's certainly no shortage of classic and revered horror films showing this October. Well, genre fans who travel the convention circuit will not be left wanting this Halloween weekend, as three conventions hit different parts of the map, each bringing its distinct flavor.
Chiller Theatre: This twice-yearly mega-event brings a number of faces to Parsippany, NJ. The convention boasts mainstream stars such as Ann-Margret, Mickey Rooney and Monkey Davy Jones; convention stalwarts the likes of Kane Hodder, Brinke Stevens and Night Of The Living Dead's Bill Hinzman; and a few genre rarities such as Lance Guest and Catherine Mary Stewart of Night Of The Creeps. Because of the recent downturn in the economy, Chiller has downsized this Halloween's show. But I can personally attest: I've been to every Chiller for 5 1/2 years, and I've never been disappointed. Look forward to a »

So I do my best to get to bed early the night before my first full day at Spain’s Sitges film festival (see first entry here), but after only five hours, I’m wide awake and unable to sleep another wink. Nonetheless, I will do my darnedest to persevere through at least three movies today.
First film on my line-up is the premiere of director Andrew Monument’s documentary Nightmares In Red, White & Blue: The Evolution Of The American Horror Film, which is screening at one of the festival’s secondary venues, the Prado, located in town. With none of the filmmakers on hand, including writer Joseph Maddrey, whose book served as the basis of the film, I’ve been asked to moderate the screening, as I am one of the interviewees in the production. Although it is 10 a.m. and no one in Sitges seems to hit the sack until 7 a. »

Greetings from Spain, where the 42nd annual Sitges International Festival of Fantastic Cinema of Catalunya is being held through October 12. As the editor of Fangoria, this marks my third trip to this gorgeous Spanish coastal town (25 minutes south of Barcelona by car) where the world’s largest and most prestigious festival of genre cinema takes place each fall. At least 200 feature films and shorts will be unspooling here over 10 days. In the past, I have chronicled these filmic adventures in the pages of the mag; this year, I will do my best to keep a daily blog of the stars, sites and cinema that I will be experiencing on my jaunt, augmented by British Correspondent Alan Jones’ own major wrap-up. Alan is a Sitges vet who has attended the event for at least three decades.
After the long overnight flight from NYC to Frankfurt to Barcelona to Sitges, »
