Mr. T Will Not Have A Cameo In 'The A-Team'

28 December 2009 8:00 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

You can't fool us, we know you're excited for "The A-Team." When director Joe Carnahan brings his modern interpretation of the classic '80s action TV series to the big screen next summer, you're going to feel compelled to buy a ticket.

Maybe it's the chance to see that pimped-out supervan of theirs again. Maybe it's the players, a well-cast ensemble that includes Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Faceman, Sharlto Copley as "Howling Mad" Murdock and Ufc champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as B.A. Baracus, the role made famous by Mr. T. Or maybe you're excited at the prospect of seeing some of the old Team assemble for cameos. Well... it's probably best if you temper that excitement a little bit.

We already know that Dwight Schultz, the original Murdock, will appear in the film. We also know (via Cinematical) that Faceman actor Dirk Benedict will show up as well. »

The Hot List 2010

Now that 2009 is so last year - well, almost - it's time to look forward to the next 12 months and the start of a new decade. Here we present our guide to 2010: the most promising newcomers, how the old guard are staying ahead of the game, plus the latest creative thinking in the arts, technology, politics and culture

1 Pop Ellie Goulding Ellie Goulding's success in 2010 may be preordained by industry insiders, but don't hold that against her. Mr. T Will Not Cameo In The New A-Team

26 December 2009 11:21 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Are you looking forward to the new, big-screen version of The A-Team? After some initial apprehension about a “remake” of such a classic TV series, I’ve found myself looking forward to it (particularly after hearing about the great casting choices, as well as seeing the first promo image) .

Second question: are you hoping for cameos from the original A-Team members, even though new folks have taken over their roles? Well, if you Are then you’re in luck on at least one front, as we already learned that Dwight Schultz – aka the original Capt. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock – will be making a cameo. This led to speculation that we’d see both Dirk Benedict (aka the original Faceman) and Mr. T (aka the original B.A. Baracus) also making cameo appearances (sadly George Peppard, the original Hannibal, passed away some 15 years ago).

Well, there’s no word on whether Benedict will appear, »

No Mr. T in 'The A-Team' Movie

26 December 2009 12:01 AM, PST | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

Ok, so George Peppard is dead, meaning he's out of The A-Team movie update, but Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz have both confirmed their cameos in Joe Carnahan's movie. That leaves only Mr. T. I have long suspected he had more bargaining sway than the other guys and that eventually, T would have his payday. Nope.

Through a strange set of circumstances, George Roush aka El Guapo from Latino Review found out from Mr. T himself the real story. Bumping into the one and only Clubber Lang at a health club, the writer discovered that the original mohawk won't be back, and that it has nothing to do with money. »

Dirk Benedict to Cameo in ‘The A-Team’

26 November 2009 8:00 AM, PST | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

When official word came that Dwight Shultz, the original Murdock, would be appearing in the new A-Team movie we were anxious to know if any other actors would be involved. Well, good news A-Team fans, because the original Faceman, Dirk Benedict, will be making an appearance as well. While no details were provided, his official website did state he would be involved:

“Dirk has just announced to this website that he has two projects in the works beginning with a cameo appearance in the new “The A-Team” film, which is currently shooting in Vancouver Canada.”

This is great news and means the only member of the original cast to confirm is Mr. T.  Hopefully he’ll come on board and make this the trifecta of casting for a film remake. Sadly, George Peppard will not be returning having passed away in 1994. However, maybe Melinda Culea, Amy Allen on the original series, »

The A-Team Meets The A-Team – Cameo News!

26 November 2009 5:36 AM, PST | FilmShaft.com | See recent FilmShaft.com news »

Still loving this promo shot for the upcoming “The A-Team” film by director Joe Carnahan. Just look how cool they all look! Especially Sharlto Copely. Maybe I’m being a bit biased seeing as District 9is my film of the year but they have completely nailed the casting for this film. The first set of pictures was released months ago with the promo stuff following in October and they did enough to send shock waves throughout the entire A-Team loving community.

The pictures of the main cast looked great and with what I can only assume is more than solid support from Patrick Wilson this is going to be one huge thrill ride.

As if us fans didn’t have enough to look forward too news filtered through a couple of weeks ago that Dwight Schultz, the original Howlin’ Mad Murdock would feature in a cameo. Now it seems he »

Revenge of the shlockmeister: Roger Corman gets his due

25 November 2009 4:57 AM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Roger Corman's output through the years may not be immediately familiar, but he's been a wide conduit for emerging talent and raw creativity. That's why he's finally been given an Oscar

"Ok, so, November 14th 2009, Roger Corman receives an Oscar. People … what took you so long?" The words of Jonathan Demme in his speech before handing over the statuette to Corman on that fateful evening.

Don't worry, you've not missed the Oscar ceremony (something surprisingly easy to do since Sky swiped the TV rights). This was the inaugural Governors awards, part of the new-look Academy that will see the number of nominees greatly expanded come March, where the board issue honorary Oscars to deserving talents who they missed out or ignored over the years. It's a shame this was such a sidelined event as we were denied the opportunity to see Hollywood's brightest and best politely clapping at a »

The A-Team To Feature Members of Original A-Team?

10 November 2009 4:44 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

For me, the most exciting part of the cast for Joe Carnahan’s film adapation of The A-Team is the addition of Sharlto Copley (District 9) who’s playing the most challenging role of the team as Capt. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock. I think he’s absolutely perfect for the role and from everything we’ve heard about him on set for this and his debut role in D-9, it looks like it’s true.

Do you know who agrees with me? Well, the original Murdock of course, played by Dwight Schultz, who has seen Copley’s screen test describing it as “brilliant beyond words.” Better yet, Schultz will be appearing in the movie in a cameo role and is already on set in Vancouver.

See the report from the official Dwight Schultz fansite below.

We have received many questions if Dwight will have a cameo part in the A-team movie. »

Original A-Team Making Cameos in New Movie?

9 November 2009 2:45 PM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

I'm not going to pretend like I had any kind of a reaction to the initial news that Joe Carnahan was remaking The A-Team. I have no sentimental attachment to the original show from the '80s, nor do I have much affection for Carnahan's filmography. That said, once the film cast Liam Neeson, 'Rampage' Jackson, Bradley Cooper and Sharlto Copley as its crew of wrong war vets doing good while on the run, I was in. However, those who weren't too fond of the news of yet another pop culture staple getting re-manufactured by Hollywood might like to know that the original "A-Team" will be popping up in the reboot.

Well, at least one of them will. The Official Dwight Schultz Fansite is reporting the actor, who played the original 'Howling Mad' Murdock, has been on location in Vancouver filming his undisclosed role in the picture, which will be »

Introducing the new A-Team

26 October 2009 6:02 PM, PDT | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

The upcoming A-Team movie has released its first cast photo (a larger version can be seen here), and I'll give credit where credit is due. Not only has Fox cast the movie perfectly, but they've gone out of their way to make the cast look like their 80's television equivalents. Okay, Rampage Jackson isn't wearing gold chains, but that's about it.

They even made Liam Neeson look like George Peppard. How cool is that? And of course that's the classic van in the background. Even if this movie ends up being a mindless action flick, then it's still following in the footsteps of its originator and will likely make $100 million that weekend.

I just wonder if anybody is actually going to be shot and killed in the movie. It never seemed to happen during the television show. More importantly, will any of the original cast members make a cameo?

First Look At The A-Team!!

26 October 2009 4:10 AM, PDT | Screenrush | See recent Screenrush news »

Apart from being heady with excitement that the film version of The A-Team is finally taking shape (or is that just the Monday morning caffeine talking?), we're also all a bit shook up by the first photo to be released of the foursome in action, and in particular, the uncanny likeness of Liam Neeson to George Peppard in the role of Hannibal. Now is that freaky or what?

Neeson, together with Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson and Sharlto Copley certainly look the part, but we'll have to wait until July 30, 2010 to see if the boys can deliver the goods.

First Look At The A-Team

24 October 2009 8:53 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

A few on-set shots have already been snapped, but here at last is the first look at the new line-up of The A-Team, with Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson and Sharlto Copley stepping into the shoes of the Special Forces team framed for a crime they didn't commit but still determined to stay one step ahead of the law.As you can see from this posed still, they certainly look the part. Squint at Neeson and you'd swear he was George Peppard back among us; Copley also looks eerily right. Whether they can recreate the spirit of the old team, while also building a flame-throwing tank out of 3 used toothbrushes and an empty yogurt carton remains to be seen, but we wouldn't bet against them. The A-Team is out on July 30, 2010. »

The First Official Photo From 'The A-Team'

23 October 2009 3:45 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

We've had a lot of unofficial parparazzi shots of The A-Team and their van, but now you can go into your weekend having seen the real deal, courtesy of Salon Del Mal. Try to contain your excitement, as no one around you is going to understand it. Just keep the joy to yourself, and then when a coworker or friend says "Oh my God, did you see that official photo of The A-Team?", you can talk freely.

In all seriousness (well, as serious as one can get), this photo is kind of creepy. I have to echo Drew McWeeny of HitFix, who declared that Liam Neeson looked like he was wearing a George Peppard Halloween costume. I have to extend that to the entire cast, especially Sharltro Copley as Howling Mad Murdock. With all their talk of going dark and gritty, I expected the cast and crew of this would »

A-Team - Video from set of the TV remake with Rampage, Cooper, Neeson and Copley

22 October 2009 11:20 AM, PDT | MovieSet.com | See recent MovieSet.com news »

The nuanced reporters from Entertainment Tonight visited the set of ‘The A-Team” filming in Vancouver and posted a short video of Bradley Cooper, Liam Neeson, Sharlito Copley and Rampage Jackson re-inventing the characters from the 80’s TV series along with Jessica Biel for some visual variety.

Interviewer Kevin Frazier asks what is (apparently to someone) “the big question” ergo: “Is there an A-Team love story?”

Huh? Collider seems to agree with me about the lightweight~ness/cheesiness factor of the interview, saying, “there is about 5 seconds worth watching.”

Anyhow, sit through the ads to watch a few seconds of action and a lot of sit-down conversation with Cooper talking about his clothes (Donna Karan in jest) and diet (boiled chicken, brown rice and brocolli) and Jesscia Biel discussing relationships [Jessica explains, "We sort of leave it kind of to the imagination as to where it could go at the end of the film. We give you a little hint about who did who wrong, but I think we both feel that we're right."] Hmmm did i miss something here? Isn’t this an action movie?

As you know by now, … Liam Neeson plays team leader Hannibal, »

The First A-Team Set Footage Hits!

22 October 2009 9:10 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Entertainment Tonight visited the set of Joe Carnahan's The A-Team and just made their first video available! Get a glimpse of what Face (Bradley Cooper), BA (Quinton Jackson), and Murdoch (Sharlto Copley) look like in the 21st Century. Watch it now below...

In the original, four Vietnam vets convicted of armed robbery escape from military prison and became do-gooder mercenaries.

The Middle East will replace Vietnam as the place the four did their tour of duty, but Carnahan said the origin story is the jumping-off point.

The original series, which ran from 1983-87 and starred George Peppard, Mr. T, Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz, followed an unofficial team of Vietnam vets who will stop at nothing to get the bad guys. Sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit, these four commandos escaped from a maximum-security stockade and now survive in the Los Angeles underground as soldiers of fortune. »

Liam Neeson as Zeus in Clash of the Titans

Photo: Paolo Pellegrin for EW On top of still being attached to star as Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's potential Lincoln biopic, Liam Neeson has attached himself to three potentially huge upcoming pictures.

First there is the remake Clash of the Titans in which he will star as Zeus, which Entertainment Weekly revealed the images you see above of him in his armor. Clash of the Titans hits theaters on March 26, 2010.

Liam Neeson as Hannibal in The A-Team

Photo: Liam Neeson Looks Like Banacek!

1 October 2009 1:35 AM, PDT | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

Perhaps the headline reference is too obscure, but those who remember actor George Peppard — who played John 'Hannibal' Smith in the original A-Team series between 1983 and 1987 — might just remember that he also starred in a 1972-74 series called Banacek. Either way, Peppard was known from Banacek forward for his increasingly silver hair...and now it seems as though that visual cue has been kept for the big screen version of The A-Team, currently filming in Vancouver.

A new photo emerged today of the core cast at work, showing Liam Neeson as Hannibal, with the silver hair intact. You can see the photo directly above, courtesy of ComingSoon.net.

The photo also shows Bradley Cooper as Faceman, Sharlto Copley (District 9) as Murdock and Quinto "Rampage" Jackson as BA Baracus.

The story focuses on four wrongly convicted veterans, who escape from prison to become do-gooder mercenaries. In addition to the already mentioned actors, »

Neeson, Cooper might get Biel, Copley in A-Team

20 September 2009 9:39 AM, PDT | The Scorecard Review | See recent Scorecard Review news »

I love it when a cast comes together … Get it? See what I did there? I changed the classic line “I love it when a plan comes together,” and I made it revelant for the article I am writing … sigh, moving on.

The A-Team cast is shaping up nicely.

We have Liam Neeson as John “Hannibal” Smith, the role made famous by George Peppard.

Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) will play Face.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s ready for the gold chains as Sgt. “B.A.” Baracus, played by Mr. T in the series.

And now Variety.com reports that Jessica Biel and Sharlto Copley (District 9) are in final talks for the film.

Biel would play Face’s ex-girlfriend. Copley would be helicopter pilot Capt. “Howling Mad” Murdock.

The TV show was all about four wrongly convicted veterans escaping from prison, walking the Earth and doing good deeds that involved blowing things up. »
