As we've mentioned previously, November 10th is the release date of the band Flyleaf's new CD, entitled Memento Mori, and to help celebrate the occasion, their bass player, Pat Seals, has taken time out of his hectic schedule to prepare for Dread Central readers a list of his Top Ten favorite horror films.
Nothing relieves the stress of the holidays -- or anything really -- like a good horror flick, and Pat certainly has prepared an eclectic catalog that shows he knows his shit about our genre.
Without further ado, here's Pat's list (click each image to see the full poster):

This is my favorite vampire movie. It is the best. The best. Morality and the darkness of human nature are the focus, and Lili Taylor's performance is brutal. Plus, Christopher Walken waltzes in for a philosophical cameo. The »

Can the media alter the public's perception of an actor? I believe so - that's why we have the likes of Megan Fox hugging the headlines and getting the covers of men's magazines, while a lot of more talented young actresses could not even manage to get featured and have interviews. If you think about it, what has she done in the movies to deserve so much publicity and attention? - - -

That maybe so and yes, I agree when others say 'she'll not last another year - others will soon take over'. Bio Channel is set to premiere Celebrity Ghost Stories, a series where stars recount real-life encounters with the paranormal, on Oct. 3. The list of storytellers is already pretty compelling: David Carradine gives one of his last interviews to share how he married a widow and became frequently visited by the jealous spirit of his wife's ex. ("In a chilling twist of irony, the haunting takes place in his bedroom closet," the press release teases.) Then you've got John Waters, Rue McClanahan, Joan Rivers, Carrie Fisher, Greg Grunberg, Debi Mazar, Barry Williams, Illeana Douglas, Lili Taylor, Tom Arnold, Morgan Fairchild, Scott Baio, Gina Gershon, C. Thomas Howell, Eric Roberts, Justine Bateman, Carnie Wilson, Dee Snider, Teri Polo, Lisa Rinna, Elisabeth Rohm, Nia Long, Traci Lords, Sammy Hagar, Ernie Hudson, Jay Thomas, Ali Landry, John Salley, James Kyson Lee, Kelly Carlson, Federico Castelluccio, and Anson Williams (Happy Days' Potsie, who's most »

What's turning me on this week? Fetish. And fetish films. It's that time of year again. We bid farewell to summer and endless days of string bikinis and turn to a more serious time. It's time for school to start, time to check back in to our jobs, time to realize that our sex lives are totally boring, even though we're maintaining our tans. You've been there. Lying in bed with your partner, staring at the ceiling more-obviously-than-normal. Instead of moans and "Oh, God!"s, you're making mental grocery lists and trying not to fart. Sigh. Happy Labor Day. Here's a remedy: what better way to spend your day off than to talk about sick sexual shit? Just because your life must resume its wanker routine tomorrow doesn't mean that your sex life must. Work out your kinks by introducing a few. And where there's sex, there's movies. While I'm skipping fringe porn and documentaries like Sick: »

You've heard about Labor Pains, the Lindsay Lohan feature that was picked up by ABC Family after narrowly missing a theatrical release. But you probably aren't familiar with Lara Shapiro, the film's co-writer and director. A Columbia Film School and Sundance Lab alum, Shapiro first established herself in the commercial landscape, writing and directing spots like the memorable Hallie Eisenberg IFC commercials , starring Matt Damon, Edward Norton, Janeane Garafalo and Lili Taylor. We spoke to Lara Shapiro about directing her first feature, dealing with the paparazzi and the unfortunately small world of female directors. »

Asked by lady love Billie Frechette (played by Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard) about himself, bank robber John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) smartly replies: “I like baseball, movies, good clothes, fast cars… and you. What else you need to know?” Indeed, that pretty much covers it in Public Enemies, the new Michael Mann drama focussing on the last 18 months in the life of the notorious 1930s criminal. And for the car enthusiast there are plenty of these “fast cars” to feast your eyes on, between 1,000 and 1,500 according to the production team, though we’ve singled out our favourite here at Boxwish for our weekly auto spot – the Ford V8 used by Depp’s Dillinger upon escaping from the Lake County Jail.
The jail, an extension to the home of local enforcer, Sheriff Lillian Holley (Lili Taylor) doesn’t hold Dillinger for long and he makes his escape in the Ford V8 belonging to the Sheriff. »

AMC has given a greenlight to "Rubicon," a new conspiracy thriller series. The hour-long, 12-episode drama marks the third original series order from AMC. The first two, "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad," have done pretty well for themselves. Created by Jason Horwitch ("Medical Investigation"), "Rubicon" focuses on an analyst for a New York City think tank who stumbles upon a clue that opens the door to some sort of vast, unfolding global conspiracy. "Rubicon" stars James Badge Dale ("24") and the supporting cast features Lili Taylor, Dallas Roberts, Jessica Collins, Arliss Howard and Miranda Richardson. "This script is an iconic... »

As we all know, these days Lindsay Lohan is known for everything but her acting ability. Still, you have to admire the girl for her determination to try again… and try again she will in a fantasy comedy directed by David Michaels called “The Other Side.” According to Variety, Lohan joins a diverse cast that includes Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews, and Alanis Morissette.
Lohan will play the lead role of a grad student who is assigned to spend the summer working at a science research outpost on a remote island. Naturally, those who live there are a little offbeat, and the student discovers their eccentricities are hiding the sad secret of an accident that happened many years prior to her arrival.

It happens occasionally in movies: an unknown actor will get two or three movie roles back to back, then have them all reach theaters -- or a film festival -- at the same time. If the movies happen to be good and the actor is particularly noticeable, Boom! He's having a moment. It happened, in various years, at Sundance -- one year it was Parker Posey, one year it was Lili Taylor, or Steve Zahn or Philip Seymour Hoffman. There's something similar happening on TV, though the actors aren't unknowns. Because of the staggered nature of TV seasons these days, actors are suddenly available for more than one series at once -- and can have two or more shows on the air at the same time. I think of them as serial actors -- not because they act in serials but because they... »
