Did you like the movie Love Actually? Are you a fan of Ashton Kutcher, Kathy Bates, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, Jessicas Alba, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Shirley MacLaine, Patrick Dempsey, Topher Grace, Queen Latifah, Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner, George Lopez, Eric Dane, Hector Elizondo, Jennifer Garner, Emma Roberts or Julia Roberts?
If you answered yes to any of the above, you’re probably going to want to see director Garry Marshall’s (Pretty Woman) new movie Valentine’s Day next February 12th. That’s because the movie is following the playbook of Love Actually and loading itself up with tons of movie stars and telling the story over the course of one day. It just so happens the story takes place on Valentine’s Day.
As someone who really enjoyed Love Actually, I’m very curious about this movie. Also, with a cast like this, how can I not be curious? »

Johnny Depp is almost unrecognizable, what with the red wig and blue eyeshadow, but Helena Bonham Carter might actually have the bigger transformation playing The Queen of Hearts in Tim Burton's dark take Alice in Wonderland, coming to theaters in March.
The latest trailer is just out and in it you get to see more of the Red Queen than you do Alice. It will be interesting to compare Bonham Carter's take to that of Kathy Bates who chewed up the scenery with evil gusto on SyFy Channel's recent Alice.
Check out the new trailer for Alice in Wonderland after the break.

While certain studios and certain features have excelled on the high-definition format, many companies have updated their back catalogs to Blu-ray only to give them a half-hearted, lazy effort, leaving special features in standard definition, if bringing them over at all, with sub-par updates of the feature itself. When studios are asking that film fanatics pay an average of $10 more for the format, it seems almost a slap in the face not to upgrade the entire package to make it worthwhile. The epitome of that half-assed effort to date may be Misery, which doesn’t even pretend to be a full HD release, instead leaving the commentary and extras to a DVD included with the Blu-ray feature. It is hard to discredit the feature itself. Rob Reiner’s adaptation of Stephen King’s inward-looking thriller Misery helped cement Kathy Bates as an unforgettable and truly Oscar-worthy actress. It also does »

Quick, when I say the words “SyFy Original Movie,” what images immediately rush to mind? Hokey CGI effects? Laughable character motivation? Bafflingly obtuse plots and stories? Now imagine this heralded brand, responsible for such masterpieces as “Ice Spiders” and “S.S. Doomtrooper,” attempting to interpret one of the most beloved pieces of western fiction ever.
This is the mindset one must enter before attempting to understand Alice, the SyFy mini-series. In a nutshell, the story is essentially a third installment of the Alice in Wonderland saga, if Lewis Carroll were alive and writing today, preferred teleplays to novels, had abandoned Victorian-era satire for dystopic art direction, and was intent on destroying the franchise so badly that no one would ever again be able to continue it. For those who remembered last year’s Tin Man, this is the exact same thing, simply swapping out The Wizard of Oz for Alice’s »

Little has been heard from Andrew Lee Potts since he appeared on the series Primeval. Playing the character Connor Temple paved the way for another role, as the Mad Hatter in Alice, SyFy's modern retelling of Lewis Carroll's classic novel.
The miniseries just kicked off with newcomer Caterina Scorsone in the titular role. Kathy Bates and Tim Curry have also signed on for the project. Being amidst veteran actors didn't daunt Andrew Lee Potts one bit though, because he was obviously excited to get the part.

Check out this interview with Kathy Bates, who plays the Queen of Hearts on Syfy Channel's upcoming Alice mini-series. The series is written and directed by Nick Willing (Tin Man). In the Interview, Nick Willing also shares his thoughts on working with Bates. [jambovideo id="168180" /] This interview shows off some of the more irreverent humor of Alice, as the characters acknowledge they aren't in the Wonderland of storybooks. "Alice," the entirely new look at Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking-Glass," premieres this Sunday at 8/9c on Syfy. »

If I describe SyFy's new four hour miniseries 'Alice' as a modern-day reimagining of Lewis Carroll's classic stories I am probably doing it a disservice. Yet I cannot think of a more appropriate way to describe it.
This new miniseries, written and directed by Nick Willing (Tin Man), takes almost all of the elements from 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking-Glass' but alters their context to create something new. Wonderland, we are told, has changed considerably since the events of those novels unfolded, evolving into a city of crumbling, twisting towers and buildings constructed out of cards and chess pieces.
Twenty-something karate instructor, Alice Hamilton (Caterina Scorsone) finds herself in this bizarre, twisted world when she gives chase to a man involved in the kidnap of her boyfriend, Jack Chase (Philip Winchester, Crusoe). Trying to find him and make her way back to her own world, she is »

Alice seems to be a hot girl these days. We’re awaiting Tim Burton’s “Alice In Wonderland”, which from early looks appears dependably Tim trippy. Johnny Depp plays the Mad Hatter in this film version so I won’t be missing it. But now we also have a television re-imagining courtesy of the SyFy network. The television version looks pretty Sci-Fi. It has a fantastic cast with Kathy Bates, Harry Dean Stanton, Colm Meaney, Andrew Lee Potts, Caterina Scorsone and Matt Frewer! Man I love Matt Frewer. Alice gets sucked back into Wonderland and this time Wonderland appears to be a modern police state instead of the previous mediveal mess. The new version has a kind of Prisoner vibe to it or at least that is what the below video preview feels like to me. Io9 has seen the rough edit and they are digging it. It airs this weekend. »

Be careful where you travel in New York City over the next few days.White Rabbits, 50 of them to be exact, will be descending on the city, trying to find Alice. You know, the one from the storybook. They are part of a promotional campaign for the Syfy event "Alice" which premieres Sunday starring Caterina Scorsone, Kathy Bates, Matt Frewer, Harry Dean Stanton and a host of others. The two-part telemovie is from Nick Willing, the writer behind the popular past Syfy event "Tin Man," which gave a totally different perspective on the popular story about a young Kansas girl trying to find the Wizard of Oz. "Alice" is looking to be a little less dark with Scorsone taking on the title role. What's it like to fall through the Looking Glass? And what will Wonderland look like some 150 years after the »

Excited for the upcoming SyFy adaptation of Lweis Carrol’s classic Alice in Wonderland tale? Well, if so you’re in luck because we’ve got a preview of that two-part drama for you right here. According to the network, this version of the story will be “an entirely new look at “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass.”
For this re-imagined adaptation, writer/director Nick Willing “mines the bizarre ingenuity and twisted logic of Carroll’s work to create a daringly different, boldly colorful and delightfully skewed dreamscape of his own.” Well, that does sound interesting, doesn’t it?
I wonder what Tim Burton would say about that? He’s been known to create a few different and bold dreamscapes himself. Oh well, I guess we’ll get a chance to compare this version with Burton’s when his hits theaters.
Until then, check out the preview »

The Anchorman actor has claimed his greatest ambition would be to portray the X Factor and American Idol judge on the big screen
Some might say the past couple of years have proven fallow ground for Will Ferrell compared to early successes in the likes of Anchorman and Zoolander, but the Us comic may just have rediscovered his mojo. In an interview in today's Sun he touts himself as the perfect choice to play Simon Cowell in a biopic of the reality TV kingpin.
Ferrell claimed, possibly tongue in cheek, that it was biggest ambition was to play the creator of X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, who also appears on American Idol in the Us.
"I would love to play Simon Cowell in a movie - heck I would love it," he said. "It would be my dream role. He's become a legend in five years. Nobody in the »

In what seemed like perfect synergy to the creators of American Idol, six years ago the winner and runner up of the series teamed in a feature called From Justin to Kelly. The plan was to get the public who had voted so passionately to crown the winner of the reality TV show to part with more of their dollars to see a cinematic romp starring two fresh new talents. This, however, never transpired. The film was a dreadful flop both commercially and critically; the project was awarded a Golden Raspberry for “Worst ‘Musical’ of Our First 25 Years” and widely considered one of the worst features ever committed to celluloid. Unsurprisingly the concept of creating cinematic cross-overs with reality TV contestants lay dormant for the next few years. In the past few weeks this trend has been reversed with rumours of up to three new films based on British reality TV stars emerging. »

The Welsh-Moroccan powerhouse is lining up a comedy à clef of his stripping days, while Susan Boyle's brother reckons Kathy Bates might be the woman for the Scottish singer's story
The Full Monty was a decent film and all, but it wasn't perfect. Where, for instance, was the troupe of irrepressible breakdancing children? Where were all the oddly patterned shirts? And why, for God's sake, wasn't Robert Carlyle's character a Welsh/Moroccan former goat herder with a catchphrase based on his profound inability to grasp the concept of chronology?
Well, fret no more. All of those problems are about to be ironed out. And, somewhat distressingly, Chico from X Factor is the one who'll be doing the ironing. He's co-written a film with a man who Wikipedia claims is his lodger. It's called Lunchbox. It's a "raunchy comedy about a stripping troupe on tour in Europe". It's based on Chico's own life. »

Susan Boyle's brother Gerry has said he believes a movie of her life will be made and that he'd like Kathy Bates to play the Scottish star. Gerry told RadarOnline.com that he would not be "surprised in the least if there was a film made" of his sister's life, adding he would "personally like to see Kathy Bates play my sister." if she wasn't available Gerry would like British actress Brenda Blethyn to play the role. The story comes amid persistent reports that "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell will be making a film about the 48-year-old Scottish singer. Can't say I agree. At 61 Kathy Bates would be 13 years older than Susan Boyle and is unfortunately well past her prime. Since playing Molly Brown in the Titanic movie she has hardly figured in Hollywood. I'm afraid Gerry Boyle is doing his sister no favors here How about Andi MacDowell? The »
