Flockhart's Mother Follows In Her Footsteps

6 October 2008 5:10 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Calista Flockhart's mother is to follow in her daughter's footsteps - she has taken up acting during her retirement.

After spending her working life as an English teacher in Illinois, Kay and the star's father Ronald retired to Tennessee - where she has thrown herself into amateur dramatics.

And the Ally McBeal star, her fiance Harrison Ford, and her adopted son Liam were on hand to watch Kay's stage debut.

Flockhart explains, "She had done some acting in college. And then she was a teacher her whole life. Then my father and her retired and moved to Tennessee, and she just did a production of Driving Miss Daisy. Liam and Harrison and I flew down. She was very good. She made me laugh."

Mother Flockhart Struggled To Go Back To Work

6 October 2008 12:28 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Calista Flockhart fell apart when she gave up her role as a full-time mother to return to acting.

After raising adopted son Liam from infancy, the former Ally McBeal actress returned to the small screen in 2006 to star in hit U.S. show Brothers + Sisters.

And she never realised it would be so hard.

Flockhart tells C Magazine, "All of a sudden, I wasn't home to pick Liam up from school, and I realised it wasn't really Ok, and I wasn't happy, and I was scratching my eyes out. I couldn't believe I'd put myself in this situation."

Flockhart was grateful she had boyfriend Harrison Ford to fall-back on - as the Indiana Jones star became a full-time dad.

She adds, "(I) Was very comforted knowing that Harrison was there - he really stepped up and became a stay-at-home dad."

Ford Credits 'Son' For Youthful Appearance

29 May 2008 12:10 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Harrison Ford credits his girlfriend Calista Flockhart's adopted son Liam with helping him maintain his youthful appearance - because looking after a seven-year-old keeps him active.

The 65-year-old Indiana Jones star thinks of young Liam as his own, and admits that running around after kids is the best anti-ageing product - even for those with good genes.

He tells Britain's Hello magazine, "My parents lived long and fairly healthy lives so I'm fortunate to have inherited those genes.

"But having a seven-year-old child has probably more to it (keeping young) than anything. It keeps you involved in life. It renews you. Family life has always been important to me and right now it's going well."

Flockhart adopted Liam in 2001 when he was a baby.

QuoteDave Annable and Emily VanCamp

The 'Brothers & Sisters' stars crackle with chemistry on screen and off. Can we expect to see some heated sibling revelry?

Family relations shouldn't require a TV-ma rating, but even the censors couldn't have predicted the steamy way in which Dave Annable first responded to Emily VanCamp when they began playing half-siblings Justin and Rebecca on ABC's Brothers & Sisters.

"They were Ephram and Amy from Everwood," says executive producer Greg Berlanti, in reference to the beloved WB drama he created that starred VanCamp in the central romantic role. Problem was, here the two were supposed to play like familynot love interests. "I looked like an idiot," Berlanti remembers. "Here were two young people who didn't grow up with each other, didn't know each other, but they had this electricity. There was nothing I could do."

He can now. When the ABC drama returns April 20, Berlanti

After nearly 20 years, Harrison Ford is returning to the role of Indiana Jones. But at home, he's reprising a part he played earlier in his 65 years: father. Being a parent again, the leading man tells Reader's Digest for its May issue, has "made me just a bit less self-centered." The actor's companion since 2002, Calista Flockhart, 43, adopted the youngster in Ford's life, son Liam, in 2001. "She's brought a child back into my home," Ford says of Flockhart.
