About two weeks ago rumors started flying around the internet about a new replacement for Conan O'Brien over at NBC thanks to his very dismal numbers since his transition to The Tonight Show (it has lost 52 percent of its viewership since big red took over and the November ratings will be the show's lowest in 15 years).
The first big rumor we heard from our sources over at NBC Universal’s lot then was that NBC has their eyes on replacing him with none other than Jerry Seinfeld, who is on everyone’s wish list.
But as of several days ago we heard from a couple of other sources that NBC is already making plans for someone else if Seinfeld doesn’t agree to terms with the network- and it’s a long shot that he won’t agree because NBC loves Seinfeld and they want him bad. But just in »

If you paid a visit to your local theater this week, you may have notice this poster banner for Dennis Dugan's upcoming comedy "Grown Ups," which stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider.
This one features original kid pictures of the lead actors - a cool promotional tool. It also seems to be the coolest thing about the whole movie, because its first trailer promises nothing but a lame comedy. The film opens June 25, 2010. »

Didn't we just see a young Adam Sandler in Funny People? If you went to the movies recently, you might've seen this new banner for Dennis Dugan's comedy Growns Ups starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade. The banner has five very young-looking photos of all five of those comedians to make people interested in seeing how these five "friends" will act as grown ups. We featured the first teaser trailer for this back in November. While it wasn't a very long trailer, I thought it looked like it could be good. Even if you're not interested, it's still pretty cool seeing these photos. I wonder if they're real? Thirty years after their high school graduation, five friends reunite for a Fourth of July holiday weekend. Grown Ups is directed by long-time comedy director Dennis Dugan, of You Don't Mess with the Zohan, I »

When you.ve got a cast including Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and David Spade, you expect the trailer to be downright hilarious. Well, it was far from it, but maybe they.re saving the good stuff for the movie. Or am I being too hopeful? Grown Ups stars the four SNL alumni plus one as childhood friends and basketball teammates who reunite to honor their late coach. They pack up their impressively casted wives (Salma Hayek, Maria Bello and Maya Rudolph) and kids and head off to the lake house where they spent their younger days. The film is set to hit theaters June 25th and I.m looking forward to seeing this brand new poster showing off the stars way back when on billboards across the country. When it.s at someone else.s expense, who doesn.t love looking back and laughing at old »

The End of 2009? Whoop-doo! This year has been one hellatious shit storm from the get-go. Pregnant ladies and babies, The Great Depression Part II, pig flu, more than a handful of horrible shootings, a balloon boy, Tiger's indiscretions, and our first black president. Not to mention more dead celebrities than I can shake a stick at. Every time I turned around, some other atrocious calamity was happening right before my eyes. Making 2009 one of the most interesting years of this entire decade. According to Michael Ruppert in his film Collapse its only going to get worse before it gets better. Yes, the Teens are going to see more than half of your friends and family dead. Take account of the folks around you. By the time 2020 rears its ugly head, most of these people will be gone. Turned to dust and painful memories. My advice to you this coming New Year? »

The title makes it sound like a bad 1980s BBC sitcom, but the this action comedy blockbuster, due out in summer 2010, is probably Cruise and Diaz's best chance to regain box-office cred
Take a look at any "most anticipated movies of 2010" list online and you'll see a familiar collection of sequels and remakes and adaptations. But there's one big summer movie that the list-makers seem to have ignored so far – the Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz action comedy Knight & Day.
This wouldn't have happened a few years ago. Earlier in the decade, the hype surrounding a high-kicking blockbuster starring Minority Report's Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz from Charlie's Angels would have been building since the moment it started filming. As it is, the past three days have seen a poster and a teaser trailer launched to almost no fanfare whatsoever.
You don't need to be a genius to see why »

Chris Rock is headed back to Comedy Central for a new stand-up special. "Chris Rock: Kill the Messenger" will make its network television premiere on Sunday, January 10 at 9:00 pm.
Rock definitely likes to keep his audiences laughing with his uncensored view, covering subjects like what women want, racism and Flavor Flav. He will also break down the long-disputed rules of cursing.
The Emmy Award-winning comic and stand-up superstar traveled the world and performed in cities such as New York City's Apollo Theater, Carling Apollo Hammersmith in London and South Africa's Carnival City Casino in Johannesburg.

Opens: 2010
Cast: Val Kilmer, Andy Garcia, Rupert Friend, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Johnathon Schaech
Director: Renny Harlin
Summary: An American journalist, his cameraman, and a Georgian native get caught in the crossfire of the five-day Russia-Georgia conflict in August 2008, and then have to deal with their obligation to be impartial.
Analysis: A timely parable on war, or Hollywood propaganda filmmaking at its worst? Wherever it goes, especially in Europe and the former Soviet states, "Georgia" will cause a lot of talk and controversy as the incidents depicted are still so fresh in many's minds. Like all topics of the sort, it'll also have its strong supporters and detractors having opinions on the film long before a frame of footage is screened anywhere.
Shot on-location in Tbilisi, the project also marks a potential return to form for Finnish director Renny Harlin. Given the right material the skilled action director delivered three »

Remember Jim Carrey in Liar, Liar, where he forces himself to tell the truth for 24 hours? Well, here Jim Carrey forces himself to answer yes to any request, for a year. Which is upping the ante somewhat, but doesn't make it a better film. This is a return to the manic, gurning, not-very-funny Carrey, as if The Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine etc hadn't happened. Just say no.

Oh. My. God. Why would anyone take Frank Oz’s hilarious 2007 flick of the same name, and turn it into this? Why would Neil Labute do that? Is this all Chris Rock is capable of: taking someone else script and adding some minstrelry to it? I was all like, Damn! by the time I was halfway through this trailer, and then I saw Peter Dinklage, playing the same role he played in the original film. Are there really so few jobs for this awesomely talented actor that he has to stoop to this? That’s a bigger crime than the remake itself. Death at a Funeral opens in the U.S. on April 16, 2010, and the U.K. on June 4, 2010. »

Opens: January 1st 2010
Cast: Renée Zellweger, Jodelle Ferland, Ian McShane, Bradley Cooper, Kerry O'Malley
Director: Christian Alvart
Summary: A family services social worker thinks she has seen it all until she meets her newest, most mysterious case - a troubled 10-year old girl whose parents try to kill her. The social worker decides to take her in herself until the right foster family comes along.
Analysis: Despite the presence of promising German director Christian Alvart ("Pandorum"), 'Case' has sat on a shelf since late 2006 and is finally being quietly shuffled out this year for one very good reason - it stinks. Having opened in Australia a few months back, reviewers utterly savaged the film as both incredibly dumb and utterly ludicrous. Lead star Renee Zellweger also scored personal criticism to a level rarely seen in film reviews outside of comments about Nicole Kidman's 'more alien than the »

Getting some of the funniest guys in show business and dropping them in Vegas for a bachelor party sounds like a winning formula, but nobody expected "The Hangover" to gross a whopping $450 million dollars worldwide. Now the film is hitting DVD and Blu-ray, and is our lead film for this week's DVD Report.
Todd Phillips already had hits like "Old School" and "Road Trip" in the bank at the time he was begged to director "The Hangover," and the veteran comedy helmer pulled together a cast of unproven but fan-favorite stars. Headlining the zany misadventure romp would be Bradley Cooper (best known as the quintessential a-hole in "Wedding Crashers), Ed Helms ("Daily Show" and "The Office" alum) and underground comedy icon Zach Galifianakis. While all three shared a level of success, none had ever held a film together on their own, making this a considerable experiment for all involved.

Philanthropist and wife of comedian Chris Rock gives her take on what's going on with domestic violence in the black community.
Kimberly Seals Allers: There are a lot of things we don't discuss in our communities. Many topics are taboo -- many have complicated nuances that are hard to explain. One of those issues is domestic violence and dating violence.
Last week, I was invited to Liz Claiborne's "It's Time to Talk Day" -- a national day of dialogue on domestic violence and teen dating abuse, where leading voices come together for a day of radio and blogging about an issue that doesn't get enough talk time. Learn more at Love Is Not Abuse.
I couldn't help but feel a bit emotionally spent dealing with such a heavy and important issue. Of course, my mind was on the black community -- on our issues.

Nicolas Cage plays a wizard who sets out to train a young man in the mystical arts. Looks to be quite the special effects extravaganza and I have to say the score is really sticking with me. The magic begins July 16.
Chris Rock leads a mostly African-American cast in this remake of the 2007 British comedy. The original had some good ideas but the humor was too dry for my taste, and this trailer has me wondering if they may have surpassed the original. Also of note is that Peter Dinklage reprises his role from the 2007 version as the man who has a dirty little secret involving the deceased. The mourning starts on April 16.

I still have not seen Frank Oz's 2007 hit comedy "Death at a Funeral," but the remake is already heading towards a release. It will open April 16, 2010, and first trailer has now shown up online!
Much like the original, this new version follows a family stumbling across all sorts of weird secrets during a funeral ceremony that quickly turns into a disaster. Neil Labute directed a script by Dean Craig.
The cast includes some big names: Chris Rock, Zoe Saldana, Danny Glover, Regina Hall, Columbus Short, Martin Lawrence, Tracy Morgan, Luke Wilson, James Marsden, Peter Dinklage and Loretta Devine. »
