Walt Disney Pictures is developing an all-new take on the legendary fairytale Rapunzel. This new film is being directed by Byron Howard and Nathan Greno and will be release this Thanksgiving, November 24th, 2010. Disneypixar.fr had an exciting new photo from the 3D film which we had to post as it is the first real look at the film that we hadn’t seen yet.
A concept rendering of Rapunzel, demonstrating the "luscious hair" former director, Glen Keane wanted.
The concept of the film is very interesting when you start hearing about the animation style. It will be made in CGI though it will resemble traditional oil paintings on canvas to bring the warmth and intuitive feel of hand-drawn animation to CGI. The animators have been referencing paintings by French Rococo artist Jean-Honore Fragonard, The Swing, applying a certain richness that they have never attained in animation before. It seems »

By this time next year, you’ll be seeing Disney’s take on the old German fairy tale Rapunzel in theaters, but for now you can analyze this new image from the film. Walt Disney Animation studios promises that with Rapunzel, “you will be transported to a world complete with iconic tower, an evil witch, a gallant hero and, of course, the mysterious girl with the long golden tresses”. Like so many animated features these days, Rapunzel has a stellar voice cast including Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, Matthew Gray Gubler, David Schwimmer, John Goodman, David Cross, Jason Alexander, and Carol Burnett. Hit the jump for more:

The popularity of The Visitor has surely helped secure financing for his next project -- another independent film drama titled "Win Win" which according to Pw, is due to begin filming late February in New York and New Jersey. McCarthy filmed The Station Agent in several parts of the garden state. Look for more details to trickle in next month. - Overture Films were all too happy with the results of writer/director Tom McCarthy's The Visitor. The socially conscious, post 9/11 commentary, lite drama starring Richard Jenkins and Hiam Abbass drew in audiences -- the film remained in theaters for a seven month stretch and accompanying 9 million dollar plus box office take. Pretty darn good for an indie pic. After appearing in Lukas Moodysson's Mammoth, Duplicity, 2012, The Lovely Bones, David Schwimmer's Trust (currently filming), it looks like McCarthy is going to begin to put the emphasis back »

I'm wouldn't necessarily call her the Parker Posey indie girl of today, but since Steven Soderbergh's Solaris and Todd Haynes' Far From Heaven, Viola Davis is taking on more supporting cast pinch hitter in independent films. - I'm wouldn't necessarily call her the Parker Posey indie girl of today, but since Steven Soderbergh's Solaris and Todd Haynes' Far From Heaven, Viola Davis is taking on more supporting cast pinch hitter in independent films. The actress who essentially got her start in film with bit roles in Soderbergh's Out of Sight and Traffic, has just signed up for a pair of indie films. Davis will be featured in Ryan Fleck's adaptation of Ned Vizzini's It's Kind of a Funny Thing for Focus Features. The story is described as a young-adult One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and centers on a clinically depressed 15-year-old who checks »

The 45-year-old actress - who played kooky masseuse Phoebe on the Us TV show – believes a big screen reunion is unlikely because “everyone is busy”. Referring to the show's original writer-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane, Lisa said: “I guess they don't think it's a good idea… It would be fun, but I don't know. How? Why? Really? Everyone is busy!" Lisa previously admitted it would be “fun” to shoot a movie if the other main cast members wanted to. She said: “If there was a way to figure it out then it could happen." Courteney Cox-Arquette – who played Monica on the show – was reportedly desperate to star in a movie version too. A source said: "Courteney has already spoken to a lot of the old gang and most of them are eager to do it. Courteney has seen the success of the 'Sex and the City' movie and is »

You've heard the rumors for years about why there will or won't be a reunion of our favorite Friends from the 1990s sitcom. Will Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer ever return to Central Perk? Don't count on it.
Kudrow recently spoke to Us at an event in Santa Monica and said that, like most of the cast, she's not sold on the need for a reunion. She said, "It would be fun, but I don't know. How? Why? Really?"
The actress also suggested that the Friends creators -- Marta Kauffman and David Crane -- are the ones who aren't all that interested in getting the gang back together. Kudrow had doubts that it would ever happen and said, "I guess they don't think it's a good idea."
The castmembers are apparently still good »

Chris Rock has the kind of status as a comedian that allows him to work on any project he wants. He produced the documentary Good Hair, he's writing a book, and he has been working on back-to-back film shoots.
Tuesday at 8 Pm on NBC, you'll hear his voice in Merry Madagascar, playing Marty the zebra for the third time, along with returning regulars Ben Stiller, David Schwimmer, and Jada Pinkett Smith. He's confident it's not the last time he'll voice Marty, either, with Madagascar 3 in the works.
So why does a guy who can do anything he wants spend time in front of a microphone pretending to be a cartoon animal?
"Money," he says jokingly, speaking on a conference call on Wednesday. "No, no they're good. You realize as you get longer in this business, the only thing that keeps you working is doing good stuff. You know, I mean the box office is great, »

Rumor has it, Victoria Adams will once again spread her wings in big screen. After playing herself in 1997 film "Spice World", the British star has been reported joining "Madagascar 3" to provide a new character's voice.
Talking about the reason why Adams decided to sign on for the animated movie project, a source close to the former Spice Girls member said, "It is like nothing she's done before. Her three boys loved the first two movies." However, it is not yet known whether or not the wife of footballer David Beckham will speak in her English accent for the third "Madagascar" film.
If the report is true, this will not be the first time Victoria Adams provides a voice for an animated project. She has lent her voice to Queen Amphitrite, a character in hit kids TV show "SpongeBob SquarePants", in an episode which is scheduled to be aired in summer »

Here's a batch of casting news to tide you over until the next Page 2. Viola Davis, always a great actress and whose appearance in Doubt nearly owns the entire film, has taken two roles. One is in It's Kind of a Funny Story, where she'll work with...Zach Galifianakis? The film is about a depressed teen who checks himself into an adult psych ward. Davis will be his psychiatrist. If Galifianakis was playing the teen I'd be amazed, but that's not likely to be the case. The other film for Davis is Trust, which is not a remake of the great Hal Hartley film with the late Adrienne Shelley and Martin Donovan. Instead, this is David Schwimmer's next directorial effort, in which a teen girl is 'victimized by an adult who gained her trust posing as a teenager on a chat room." Clive Owen and Catherine Keener are already »

Maybe it's that Oscar nomination, maybe it's that rich, resonant, voice, but something about Viola Davis must scream "authority!" She shot to stardom (or at least, awareness among most moviegoers) last year playing Mrs. Miller, the only person who could possibly shame Meryl Streep's Sister Aloysius, and this year she popped up already in Law Abiding Citizen, a movie that made the one good choice of casting her as the mayor. Now she's picked two more roles in which she'll take charge and solve other people's problems. Variety writes that Davis will be in the Zach Galifianakis movie It's Kind of a Funny Story and the David Schwimmer-directed Trust, and will play a psychiatrist/counselor in both films. Funny Story is about a 15-year-old who checks himself into an adult psychiatric ward, where Davis plays his psychiatrist. And Trust is about a family coping with trauma, with the »

I recently talked about the addition of Catherine Keener and Clive Owen to the cast of David Schwimmer’s Trust, two casting decisions that I couldn’t be happier about. Now Schwimmer has added another cast member to his domestic drama: Viola Davis.
Though not a household name, Davis has been seen everywhere lately, from State of Play to Law Abiding Citizen to Madea Goes to Jail and the upcoming (horrendously titled) Knight & Day. According to Variety, Trust centers around “a family who must deal with the ramifications after their 14-year-old daughter is victimized by an adult who gained her trust posing as a teenager on a chat room. Davis will play the counselor assigned to the girl’s case.”
She has also joined the cast of the Zach Galifianakis film It’s Kind of a Funny Story, which sounds like an interesting turn for the comedic actor, as the »
