A couple of news bites came out of Adam Green's camp today. The first is that his upcoming chiller Frozen has gotten itself a rating, and secondly a teaser image for Hatchet 2 has made its way online. Interesting.
Frozen stars Shawn Ashmore, Emma Bell, and Kevin Zeger and tells the tale of three skiers who are stranded on a chairlift and forced to make life-or-death choices that prove more perilous than staying put and freezing to death. The film has been rated R by the MPAA for "disturbing images and language."
As for Hatchet 2 ... to read what Adam Green had to say about the proposed sequel, click here. The teaser image you see below appeared today on the official Hatchet MySpace page. Are we getting closer to a second Victor Crowley fueled rampage? It sure seems that way.

Photo of Shawn Ashmore and Matt O'Leary in Mother's Day by Rebecca Sandulak. We've been reporting on director Darren Lynn Bousman's reimagining of Charles Kaufman's Mother's Day since the project was announced. Starring Rebecca DeMornay in the title role – and leading a cast filled with genre stars like Jaime King and True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll – the film promises to be an outrageous follow-up to the director's cult favorite Repo! The Genetic Opera. Last week – just a few days away from the completion of principal photography – we finally had the opportunity to sit down and speak with Bousman about his latest vision of big-screen... »

So Far we've only seen X-Men Origins: Wolverine on the big screen in 20th Century Fox's prequel series.
And producer Lauren Shuler Donner recently admitted that the other proposed prequel, X-Men Origins: Magneto, may not ever get made.
Marvel Comics, though, has its own X-Men Origins series which has so far published one-off issues revealing the backstories for Jean Grey/Phoenix, Beast and Colossus.
Next in the comic book series is Iceman, the character played by Shawn Ashmore in the films.
In the upcoming one-shot title, written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Stephen King's The Stand) and pencilled/inked by Phil Noto, the origin of the X-Men team member whose real name is Bobby Drake is explored, showing the small-town beginnings that helped forge the coolest mutant of them all.
Priced $3.99, X-Men Origins: Iceman is in stores on November 4.

Walking into the Prairie Production Centre, the cavernous Winnipeg studio in which Darren Lynn Bousman’s Mother’S Day is being shot, is like walking into a Home Show exhibit gone terribly, terribly wrong. Tasteful upscale house interiors, courtesy of Saw V/VI production designer Anthony Ianni, initially suggest model McMansions erected for moneyed buyers, but closer inspection reveals it must surely be the maid’s day off. Blood is smeared across windows, splattered on doors, pooled in seat cushions and artfully dribbled and drabbled over the pool table, the fully stocked bar and the framed Village People album covers hanging on the wall.
Mother’S Day is, in name at least, a remake of the 1980 shocker directed by Charles Kaufman (brother of Troma-meister Lloyd), which at first glance seemed like just another entry in the stalk-‘n-slash/holiday sweepstakes. In fact, it was more of a low-budget cross between »

Darren Lynn Bousman looks like he's got his hands full on the Canadian set of Mother's Day . See for yourself in this video blog (the second in a series) which finds the director pushing co-star Jaime King through an emotionally rigorous scene, then get a glimpse at a big stunt day. The piece closes out, for you Saw nuts, with Lyriq Bent on a bloody set being controlled by the film's nasty "brothers." And Bousman looks like he's having a grand ol' time. Mother's Day stars Rebecca DeMornay, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Shawn Ashmore, Deborah Ann Woll and Lisa Marcos (in addition to the actors listed above). I still find it strange that they're remaking a Troma film that was directed by Lloyd Kaufman's brother, but for my fellow skeptics, there's more proof as of today: The Mother's Day remake has its own website. The original, about a demented mother and her brood who terrorize some people in the woods, is an underground favorite of Troma fans. Darren Bousman of Saw and Repo: The Genetic Opera fame is helming the remake, which is set to star Shawn Ashmore, who essays the role of Jimmy Olsen on Smallville, and Briana Evigan, recently in Sorority Row and daughter of Greg "B.J. and the Bear" Evigan.
Given the failure of Sorority Row and the popularity of Bousman, I'm interested to see how this one fares. Check out the website here.

Director Darren Lynn Bousman (the “Saw” movies) has debuted the first official pic from his upcoming “Mother’s Day” remake via Twitter. It sure doesn’t look like a horror movie, as Bousman has been saying, so maybe calling it a “horror remake” is not quite correct. In any case, the film is currently filming up north in Winnipeg, Canada, and stars Jaime King, Deborah Ann Woll, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Shawn Ashmore, and Rebecca De Mornay as mummy dearest, who along with her three sons, return to their childhood home to terrorize the new home owners and their guests. See, this is why I refuse to house sit for people. You never know… »

Darren Bousman is up in Toronto filming the Mother's Day remake with Rebecca De Mornay, Jaime King, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega and Shawn Ashmore and has taken some time out of his busy day to file a video blog from the set. It's less a blog than just a behind-the-scenes little vid of Bousman talking to the actors and prepping the scenes (oddly narrated by Bousman's Twitter updates). It's supposedly the first in a series of videos Bousman will be filing from the set. Though we don't get to... »

I’ve got to give credit to whoever cut this behind the scenes video from director Darren Lynn Bousman’s “Mother’s Day”, as they’ve done an awesome job. Usually production blogs are boring and safe. Not this one. As you’ll see, this one has swearing, talk of serious violence, and some great editing. Whoever cut this must have drank a lot of red bull as it’s one minute of awesome. Take a look. You’ll agree with me.
And if you’re not familiar with “Mother’s Day”, Bousman’s remaking the 1980 Troma film of the same name and it revolves around a family of psychopaths, led by their equally villainous mother, back to the home in which they were raised to terrorize the new owners. The film stars Rebecca De Mornay, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Deborah Ann Woll, Shawn Ashmore, Jaime King, and Lloyd Kaufman. »

Marvel’s latest entrance into the young demographic is their new Cartoon Network series, The Super Hero Squad Show, based on the Hasbro toyline.
The toys and the series feature small exaggerated/cartoonish versions of all the popular Marvel characters and the show takes them all and combines them into The Super Hero Squad to fight a combination of villains from all of the different Marvel books.
Since I’m a Marvel fan I thought I’d give the show a viewing by checking out its premiere and tell you what I thought. Continue on to see my feelings on the series and to check out some pics for the series as well as a list of the incredible voice talent they’ve gathered to play our favourite Marvel characters.
In short, this is just a big pile of awesome for kids. For adult Marvel fans, it’s still a fun watch too, »
