For me, the most exciting part of the cast for Joe Carnahan’s film adapation of The A-Team is the addition of Sharlto Copley (District 9) who’s playing the most challenging role of the team as Capt. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock. I think he’s absolutely perfect for the role and from everything we’ve heard about him on set for this and his debut role in D-9, it looks like it’s true.
Do you know who agrees with me? Well, the original Murdock of course, played by Dwight Schultz, who has seen Copley’s screen test describing it as “brilliant beyond words.” Better yet, Schultz will be appearing in the movie in a cameo role and is already on set in Vancouver.
See the report from the official Dwight Schultz fansite below.

Their statement below:

I'm not going to pretend like I had any kind of a reaction to the initial news that Joe Carnahan was remaking The A-Team. I have no sentimental attachment to the original show from the '80s, nor do I have much affection for Carnahan's filmography. That said, once the film cast Liam Neeson, 'Rampage' Jackson, Bradley Cooper and Sharlto Copley as its crew of wrong war vets doing good while on the run, I was in. However, those who weren't too fond of the news of yet another pop culture staple getting re-manufactured by Hollywood might like to know that the original "A-Team" will be popping up in the reboot.
Well, at least one of them will. The Official Dwight Schultz Fansite is reporting the actor, who played the original 'Howling Mad' Murdock, has been on location in Vancouver filming his undisclosed role in the picture, which will be »

Entertainment Tonight visited the set of Joe Carnahan's The A-Team and just made their first video available! Get a glimpse of what Face (Bradley Cooper), BA (Quinton Jackson), and Murdoch (Sharlto Copley) look like in the 21st Century. Watch it now below...
In the original, four Vietnam vets convicted of armed robbery escape from military prison and became do-gooder mercenaries.
The Middle East will replace Vietnam as the place the four did their tour of duty, but Carnahan said the origin story is the jumping-off point.
The original series, which ran from 1983-87 and starred George Peppard, Mr. T, Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz, followed an unofficial team of Vietnam vets who will stop at nothing to get the bad guys. Sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit, these four commandos escaped from a maximum-security stockade and now survive in the Los Angeles underground as soldiers of fortune. »

There was a time, I know I was there, when men were men, women were women and sometimes a cigar was just a good smoke. But 40 years of feminism have taken their toll. The war against masculinity has been won. Everything has turned into its opposite, so that what was once flirting and smoking is now sexual harassment and criminal. And everyone is more lonely and miserable as a result. --Dirk Benedict
To some, there is no villain more evil, more destructive, and more unwanted than the female race. We're a scourge that needs to be stopped, having mutilated the business industry and now ravaging the hallowed halls of media. Yes, this is a criminally outdated mindset, but nevertheless, the idea thrives for many groups as Hollywood and television diversify the ranks. In essence, adding more women to the mix has evoked a territorial "Give me my man-tainment!" outcry »

A first look at what would appear to be the new A-Team van being used in the currently in production movie has popped up online. Here.s the weird thing: it looks almost exactly like the old van from the TV series. It.s as if Splash News hopped in a time machine to lurk around the set of the old TV series and snap pictures. It really looks like they.ve made no attempt at all to update the thing, just grabbed one from the floor of a rural car show where Dirk Benedict was signing autographs, and rolled it right up onto the new A-Team movie set. I.ve put together a side-by-side comparison, putting the new van up against the original one from the television show, below. To see more of the A-Team.s new vehicle, click over to Splash News. 20th Century Fox has begun filming The A-Team in British Columbia, Canada and we've got your first peek at the new van being used for the movie. Opening in theaters on June 11, 2010, the big screen adaptation stars Liam Neeson as John "Hannibal" Smith, Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck, Sharlto Copley as Capt. "Howling Mad" Murdock, and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as Sgt. "B.A." Baracus. The roles were made famous by George Peppard, Dirk Benedict, Dwight Schultz and Mr. T, respectively, in the original series. South African actor Sharlto Copley, who gave such a superb performance in alien apartheid drama District 9, is in final talks to play 'Howling Mad' Murdock in Fox's big-screen remake of The A-Team.
Copley, 35, played bumbling bureaucrat Wikus van de Merwe (pictured right) in District 9 (see my review here), improvising many of his lines in what was his first feature film role.
Jessica Biel is also in negotiations for The A-Team and will play the former lover of Lieutenant Templeton 'Faceman' Peck (Bradley Cooper), says The Hollywood Reporter.
Dwight Schultz played Captain H.M. 'Howling Mad' Murdock in the original 80s TV series, and Dirk Benedict was Faceman.

Well well well, it looks like the ever unreliable tabloid The Sun was actually right for once! As previously reported [1] -- and since retracted -- the Ufc fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has been cast as Sgt. Bosco "B.A." Baracus in the forthcoming remake of the classic 80's series The A-Team. So report several [2] sources [3], who provide evidence that Jackson has both been spotted on the movie's set and also that he has dropped his upcoming Ufc match against the fighter Rashad Evans. While surprising that The Sun got something right, I am kind of glad that they actually did. Since the first rumor of Jackson taking over Mr. T's role appeared, I started looking into the guy's career as a Ufc fighter and I gotta say he's pretty impressive. I think he'd make for a good replacement and I can't wait to hear his take on T's famous line "I pity the fool! »

The ‘A-Team‘ movie is in production in Vancouver and golden boy Bradley Cooper arrived to share the city’s glow along with Robert Pattinson but fans and industry types alike are still wondering, “Who will be Cooper’s co-stars?”
MovieSet speculated a few months back on who could/should/might play each of the iconic TV characters in ‘New A-Team Movie - Who should play B.A., Face, Murdoch & Hannibal?‘ But so far only a few actors are confirmed. Are they keeping this *very, very secret* or are they really still in casting mode?
The assumption is that Cooper will play Templeton “Faceman” Peck made famous by (the original BSG Starbuck) Dirk Benedict, and Irishman and Jedi Liam Neeson is aboard to play Colonel Hannibal (formerly played by the late George Peppard), a role some though would go to George Clooney (heh as-if). However, no one knows for sure and, »

Freeze! Peace officers! Aw yeah, that's right, the role originally inhabited by the always entertaining Mr. T. has now been cast for the upcoming reimagining of the classic '80s TV series The A-Team. The one to take on the role of Sgt. Bosco "B.A." Baracus will be none other than the Ufc Fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, who truly fits the part. He's got the muscles, the attitude and likes to wear big heavy chains... all he's missing is the mohawk and he could pass for Mr. T.'s own son. Apparently Jackson nabbed the role right in front of bigger stars such as The Game, Ice Cube and Tyrese Gibson, who all were interested, but just didn't have the charm and charisma that Jackson is being reported as showing. He joins the film as the third certain lock in a cast which will also contain Bradley Cooper as Lt. »

Last Month, we were given the exciting shortlist for the role of Green Lantern in Warner Bros' film based on the DC Comics hero.
The final three were Ryan Reynolds, Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake. Although Cooper had long been suggested as a contender, the other two were a surprise to film fans.
So it was another surprise when Reynolds got the job, especially as he was all set to play mercenary Deadpool in a spin-off from X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
We've not yet heard anything from pop star Timberlake about being on the shortlist or not getting the part.
But Cooper has now talked about how he feels about missing out on the chance to play the lead role of Hal Jordan.
Jordan is a hotshot pilot who becomes Green Lantern when he is chosen to wield a ring of great power - and its lantern-like charger - after a dying alien crashes on Earth. »

Actor Bradley Cooper has signed up to star in the upcoming A-Team movie - just weeks after denying his involvement with the film.
The 34 year old was rumoured to be taking on the big screen role of Lieutenant Templeton 'Faceman' Peck, made famous by Dirk Benedict in the hit 1980s TV series.
When confronted with the reports last month, Cooper denied he was involved with the production, insisting he hadn't even read a script for the A-Team picture.
But he has now confirmed he is to star in the movie, telling MTV News, "Yes I’ll be doing it.”
Liam Neeson, Bruce Willis, and rapper Common are rumoured to have roles in the film, which is scheduled for release in 2010. »

Bradley Cooper has confirmed that he will play Lt Templeton 'Faceman' Peck in the big-screen remake of The A-Team.
After earlier denying that he was involved with the project, he now admits he will take on the role previously played by Dirk Benedict in the 80s TV show.
Cooper (pictured right), who stars in this weekend's new comedy release The Hangover, told Empire: "I think it's on. If it all happens, it would be great. It would be an honour to work with [director] Joe Carnahan."
Interestingly, he also hinted that rapper and actor Common may be cast as Sergeant 'BA' Baracus, the part played on the small screen by mohican-haired Mr T (real name Laurence Tureaud). The montage above shows Common on the left and Mr T on the right.
Asked who could play king of bling BA Baracus, he said: "I like Common, I think Common would be good. »

Liam Neeson is near a deal, and Bradley Cooper is set to star in Joe Carnahan's (Smokin' Aces) adaptation of one of my favorite 80's TV shows... In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire...The A-Team.
