The official Dwight Schultz fansite actually posted this news late last month, but Dwight Schultz’s cameo in Joe Carnahan’s big-screen “A-Team” movie is confirmed. No word on what role Schultz, who played the original Howling Mad Murdock on the long-running action-adventure show will play in the movie, but if Carnahan isn’t a total moron, he’ll give the old and new Murdock (”District 9’s” Sharlto Copely) at least a brief scene together. Now if only they can wrangle Mr. T and Dirk Benedict back, too… »

Winona Ryder (pictured) is in talks to star in Darren Aronofsky's supernatural thriller Black Swan, it's been confirmed.
Set in the New York City ballet world, the story centres on a dancer (Natalie Portman) vying for the lead role in Swan Lake; she encounters a mysterious rival (Mila Kunis) who appears to be some kind of doppelganger or apparition.
Ryder will play a fellow ballerina. Vincent Cassel and Barbara Hershey will also join the cast, according to Slashfilm.
Rachel McAdams is in talks to play antihero/love interest Black Cat in Spider-Man 4, according to a report on Mania.
The site also claims a new male villain is being cast in the film. This could mean that Dylan Baker's character Curt Connors would not finally become reptilian baddie the Lizard, because Baker is already in the cast.
The rumours developed today with news that 27-year-old British actress Romola Garai »

-- Let the speculation begin. "Howling Mad" Murdock actor Dwight Schultz will be showing up for a cameo in Joe Carnahan's "The A-Team," according to a fansite. Hopefully, this means we'll be seeing other cameos from the rest of the team. Who doesn't want to see Mr. T give this young guns A-Team a vote of confidence with a tiny cameo role. Hell, he can leave his gold chains at home if it makes him happy. Schultz is great, but the fans want what they want: bring back T. (The Official Dwight Schultz Fansite, via Cinematical)
-- "Mad Men" producer Matthew Weiner is turning his attention to film now that the latest season is finished. He's now getting set to helm "You Are Here," a romantic comedy that he wrote. Independent financing is already in place and the cast will include the likes of Jennifer Aniston and "The Hangover »

We want to bring you more news every day, but unfortunately our robot army of writers who never need to sleep, to eat, or to love, is still under development (currently all they do is sleep, eat, and love). In the meantime, we’re going to be making “A Fistful of News” a regular feature you’ll see every other day where we bring you some additional news stories we found but didn’t have time to write. Until the Robot Army is ready to proceed (which is unlikely as we cut corners and ordered them from Belize, a country not known for quality robotics).
After the jump you’ll find ten quick news items including what’s next for Up director Peter Docter even though it’s not Monsters, Inc. 2, Guillermo del Toro’s monster cameo in The Hobbit, and Jeff Bridges’ behind-the-scenes photography on the set of Iron Man. »

For me, the most exciting part of the cast for Joe Carnahan’s film adapation of The A-Team is the addition of Sharlto Copley (District 9) who’s playing the most challenging role of the team as Capt. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock. I think he’s absolutely perfect for the role and from everything we’ve heard about him on set for this and his debut role in D-9, it looks like it’s true.
Do you know who agrees with me? Well, the original Murdock of course, played by Dwight Schultz, who has seen Copley’s screen test describing it as “brilliant beyond words.” Better yet, Schultz will be appearing in the movie in a cameo role and is already on set in Vancouver.
See the report from the official Dwight Schultz fansite below.
We have received many questions if Dwight will have a cameo part in the A-team movie. »

A-Team fans rejoice, it appears that there will be at least one nod to the classic '80s action franchise in Joe Carnahan's upcoming modern remake. The Official Dwight Schultz Fansite has the word that Schultz, who played "Howling Mad" Murdock in the original series, was recently in Vancouver filming a cameo part. He even had some kind words to say about District 9's Sharlto Copely, who plays the new Murdock. Schultz calls Copely "brilliant beyond words", and goes on to say, "honestly, if Sharlto is given an opportunity to do what I saw in that [screen] test, Murdock will be better than ever." It's heartening to hear that Schultz is welcoming the new cast so warmly, and I'm hoping we get further reactions from him on the status of this remake as well. Carnahan's involvement certainly piqued my interest, but it was the cast that really sold this »

Actor Dwight Schultz, who played "Howling Mad" Murdock on the original A-Team series, revealed some interesting info on his official site recently. Repeatedly asked if he would have a cameo in the new A-Team feature film, the actor confirmed — through the folks running his site — that he would.
"We are pleased to inform you all that Dwight has actually already been working in Vancouver, where he has played a cameo role in The A-Team movie," sources for the site stated.
Apparently Schultz met Sharlto Copely (District 9), who is playing Murdock in the movie, and called the South African actor "brilliant beyond words," and adding that if he is as great as he was during the screen test, "Murdock will be better than ever."
We're not quite sure why series-to-feature remakes typically offer token appearances to original series cast members; whether it's a tip of the hat or an attempt »

The Official Dwight Schultz Fansite is reporting that the actor will have a cameo role in The A-Team, directed by Joe Carnahan. The site has announced:
We are pleased to inform you all that Dwight has actually already been working in Vancouver, where he has played a cameo role in The A-Team movie. Sharlto Copely, the South African actor who plays Murdock, is according to Dwight: 'brilliant beyond words'. Dwight has seen his screen test and he stated: that honestly, if Sharlto is given an opportunity to do what I saw in that test, "Murdock" will be better than ever!' Sharlto has been very kind to him on the set and Dwight must say that he has been treated very well.
The 20th Century Fox release will open in theaters on June 11, and also stars Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Biel, Quinton Jackson and Yul Vazquez.

No matter how much I want to, I'm finding it very difficult to hate Joe Carnahan's The A-Team. Sure, Carnahan isn't the greatest director and Jessica Biel is really nothing more than a pretty face, but something about the Neeson-Cooper-Copley-Jackson team is inexplicably exiting. It may very well be a train wreck of vast proportions, but for once I would like to get behind a TV-adaptation rather than berate it from day one (if only they weren't so bad). Jessica Biel recently spoke out about the project and, if she is to be believed, I may get to keep my pessimism at bay. As reported by Collider, while taking questions on a panel for the upcoming Planet 51, Biel was quoted as saying that the film will attempt to strike a balance between "super cheesy or really dark," having humorous moments moments as well as dramatic and emotional ones. »

Earlier today I attended the press day for Sony’s new animated movie Planet 51 and in attendance were Jessica Biel, Dwayne Johnson and Justin Long. While I’ll have a transcript of the entire press conference in the coming days, since Jessica Biel talked about The A-Team and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson gave updates on a possible Witch Mountain sequel, Tooth Fairy, Jonny Quest and Namor the SubMariner, I figured you’d like to read what they had to say tonight.
While I’d love to report major news on any of the movies, it seems nothing is happening on a Witch Mountain sequel, Jonny Quest, or Namor the SubMariner. But the best news came from Jessica Biel who made it sound like The A-Team might be a lot of fun. Hit the jump for exact quotes:
Q: Can you tell us anything about The A-Team?
Jessica Biel: It’s going really well. »

I'm not going to pretend like I had any kind of a reaction to the initial news that Joe Carnahan was remaking The A-Team. I have no sentimental attachment to the original show from the '80s, nor do I have much affection for Carnahan's filmography. That said, once the film cast Liam Neeson, 'Rampage' Jackson, Bradley Cooper and Sharlto Copley as its crew of wrong war vets doing good while on the run, I was in. However, those who weren't too fond of the news of yet another pop culture staple getting re-manufactured by Hollywood might like to know that the original "A-Team" will be popping up in the reboot.
Well, at least one of them will. The Official Dwight Schultz Fansite is reporting the actor, who played the original 'Howling Mad' Murdock, has been on location in Vancouver filming his undisclosed role in the picture, which will be »

I would exactly call Bradley Cooper and Shia Labeouf interchangeable but that’s what has happened. Back in April of 2008, Labeouf came on board to star in Neil Burger’s (”The Illusionist”) mystery-thriller, “Dark Fields”. Then Labeouf realized he could go out and play with anyone he wanted so he decided to exchange “Dark Fields” for Oliver Stone’s unnecessary sequel, “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”. Over a year later, Bradley Cooper steps in to fill the void because he’s Labeouf’s long-lost twin. Hit the jump for details.
Based on the book by Aron Glynn, Variety describes “Dark Fields” as a “what-if story about a designer drug that can make you rich and powerful. Eddie (Cooper) is a down-and-out New York writer until he possesses a pill that gives him the ability to access the full capacity of his brain. He soon realizes that his newfound intelligence and »

Bradley Cooper wanted to be in 'The A-Team' so he could beat people up.
The actor said he was looking forward to playing the character Face in the action film, and getting to dish out beatings, rather than being on the receiving end, as he did as character Will Tippin in Us series 'Alias'.
He said: "In 'Alias', I wasn't the action guy. I got the s**t beat out of me, got tortured a lot, lost teeth, became a heroin addict, and left after the second season. I was never on the giving end of it. But in The A-Team, I get that chance."
He also said he "w****d himself out" to director Joe Carnahan to get his part as smooth talking Face in the film, about a team of rogue military mercenaries.
Bradley said: "I heard they were doing it and »

You could make the argument that if Richard Kelly could only get the whole world to come over to his house and listen to his record collection, he might not feel the need to make films at all. That said, his fall from grace following the flop of "Southland Tales" was so total that he went from the director anointed as the hipster's David Lynch to the arthouse M. Night Shyamalan overnight. With much riding on this comeback, Kelly has turned to Richard Matheson's short story "Button, Button," previously immortalized as an episode of "The Twilight Zone, »

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has unveiled the trailer for the upcoming “Smokin’ Aces 2: Assassins’ Ball,” a prequel to Joe Carnahan’s kinetic hitman flick.
“Smokin’ Aces 2″ synopsis: Federal agents once again match wits with a cadre of creative killers in the high-octane feature-length film Smokin’ Aces 2: Assassins’ Ball. Walter Weed (Tom Berenger) is an unassuming desk jockey at the FBI when the Bureau uncovers a plot to assassinate him. A team of degenerate, psychotic assassins dispatched by mystery man Hal Leuco to win a huge bounty includes a resourceful beauty who has a unique method of killing her prey (Martha Higareda), a power-tool wielding psychopath (Vinnie Jones) and a deadly master of disguise (Tommy Flanagan). Also in the hunt is the fan-favorite Tremor family from the original film, featuring nymphomaniacal gun-nut (Autumn Reeser) and her lethal kinfolk (Maury Sterling, Michael Parks and C. Ernst Harth). The full title of the movie is “F**king Engaged”, but you can expect plenty of asterisks in the title cause, gosh, Americans aren’t ready to spell out “f**king”! (Hell, even I’m not doing it! God, we suck.) Anyways, former “Seventh Heaven” teenager Jessica Biel is all grown up and engaged. Effin’ engaged, as it turns out. The actress, soon to be seen in Joe Carnahan’s “The A-Team”, will star and produce a raunchy comedy called “F**king Engaged”, a movie title that will surely be changed by the time the film approaches production (or if they’re slightly brave, until the release date approaches, but make no mistake about it, it’s gonna get changed). Written by Julia Brownell, the comedy will star Biel as one-half of a couple (the sexy, fantasy-worthy half) who make a pact to have sex every day leading up to »

Did you know that there was a sequel in the works for 2006’s Smokin’ Aces, with practically none of the original cast? Neither did we, until this trailer came across The Flickcast desk. It would be an interesting take, if it had any of the same people involved as the original film.
While the film doesn’t look like it will do much justice to Joe Carnahan’s original, the trailer was quite clever. It starts off by making sure we see some of our favorite faces from the original, such as Jeremy Piven, and then it throws a record scratch in to tell us that we won’t see them anymore.
Instead of a well-rounded cast consisting of Piven, Ray Liotta, Ben Affleck, Ryan Reynolds, Alicia Keys, and tons others, we now treated to the all-star cast of Vinnie Jones, Ernie Hudson, Tom Berenger, and the guy who had »

I still haven't seen Joe Carnahan's Smokin' Aces, but the high energy hitman flick it seems to have a fair amount of fans out there. (Personally I always thought it looked like a Guy Ritchie knockoff, but maybe I'm wrong on that.) At any rate, the film was apparently popular enough to warrant a direct-to-dvd sequel... er, I mean, prequel. Joe Carnahan obviously has better things to do with his time (like directing The A-Team, for example), but he is still credited as executive producer on Smokin' Aces 2: Assassin's Ball. The actual director of this flick, unfortunately, is P.J. Pesce -- the same man behind such memorable Dtv flicks as Lost Boys: The Tribe and From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter. None of the big name original cast members are returning for this film, but Tommy Flanagan will reprise his role as Lazlo Soot, and »
