Director Baz Luhrmann suffered a mild head injury on the set of his latest film The Great Gatsby, which allowed the cast (including stars Carey Mulligan, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Tobey Maguire) and crew to go home a day earlier than planned for the Christmas holiday.

Baz Luhrmann reportedly cracked his head on a camera crane while maneuvering about the tightly packed set. Producer Anton Monsted told reporters the following.

"We were on quite a cramped set and he was ducking under the crane. He struck his head on the weights on the end of the camera crane. He split open his head and we had to get the doctor."

All of the cast and crew will return next year to resume filming on this adaptation of the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.

Chris Pratt Up For Bigelow's Bin Laden Film

14 December 2011 9:11 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

"Parks And Recreation" and "Moneyball" star Chris Pratt is in talks to play the lead role in Kathryn Bigelow's new untitled action drama about the hunt for Osama bin Laden reports Twitchfilm.

Bigelow and her "The Hurt Locker" writer Mark Boal were developing the project, then titled "Kill Bin Laden", when U.S. forces succeeded in killing the al-Qaeda leader. That lead to a massive leap in interest in the project, but also required extensive retooling of the script.

Earlier this year Joel Edgerton was attached but had to drop the film due to his schedule. Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce and Idris Elba have also been rumoured while Jason Clarke reportedly landed a supporting role in November.

Producers are now aiming to begin shooting in February. »

Chris Pratt in talks for Kathryn Bigelow's untitled Bin Laden film

14 December 2011 9:01 AM, PST | ifc.com | See recent IFC news »

Somehow Chris Pratt, the actor who plays the hilarious doufus Andy on "Parks and Recreation" and who is also married to Anna Faris, has turned into a force to be reckoned with over the past couple of years. He has been starring as a comedian and dramatic actor in films and TV for over a decade, including roles in "The Oc," "Wanted" and "Bride Wars," but his career has started to solidify himself ever since "Parks and Rec" debuted.

He landed a dramatic role in "Moneyball" earlier this year, and also has joined forces with Channing Tatum in the high school reunion drama "Ten Year," but now Pratt is close to landing his biggest role to date. Twitch is reporting that Pratt is in talks to take the lead role in Kathryn Bigelow's upcoming Osama Bin Laden film.

Previously, it had been Joel Edgerton who had toplined the project, »

Could A Pratt Be Sent To ‘Kill Bin Laden’?

14 December 2011 7:23 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Kathryn Bigelow’s Kill Bin Laden (that title is expected to change) is shaping up to be an epic action-drama that will chronicle the covert operation to take down America’s most infamous terrorist. The project may now have its lead with actor Chris Pratt in negotiations to head the team that eventually got their man. Pratt, who was superb in his small but significant role in Moneyball, made his name in television shows Everwood and The O.C., but is now more known for his comedic work in Parks And Recreation.

If a deal is reached Pratt will take over from The Thing’s Joel Edgerton who dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Jason Clarke is already attached to the cast and rumours that Guy Pearce, Idris Elba and Tom Hardy may also join up are as yet unconfirmed.

'Moneyball' Star Chris Pratt to Lead Kathryn Bigelow's 'Kill Bin Laden'

13 December 2011 10:51 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Though some of the best moments in the thriving career of Chris Pratt come in the form of his starring roles on TV series like "Everwood" and "Parks & Recreation," the actor has also enjoyed some good supporting roles in films like Wanted and most recently Moneyball. Now Twitch has word that an unlikely role for Pratt is in the works with the actor in talks for a lead role in Kathryn Bigelow's action drama formerly known as Kill Bin Laden. The project was already in development before the death of the infamous terrorist, but upon Bin Laden's the death the film got a higher profile and needed to be reworked. Meanwhile, the only role that seems to be the most official so far is "Chicago Code" and Public Enemies star Jason Clarke landing a role with names like Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, Jennifer Ehle (Contagion), Idris Elba, Rooney Mara »

‘Burt Macklin, Navy Seal: The Movie’: Chris Pratt Up for Lead in Kathryn Bigelow’s Next?

13 December 2011 4:29 PM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

For their latest juicy (and exciting) scoop, Twitch reports that Chris Pratt is in talks for “the lead role” in Kathryn Bigelow‘s upcoming Navy Seal true life tale (often referred to by Kill Bin Laden, but currently without a new official title). Joel Edgerton was originally cast in the film, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts, and Jason Clarke took on a role in November. It’s unknown if Clarke has taken on what was to be Edgerton’s role, but this news might well signal that’s not the case and that Pratt’s assumed “lead role” is the lead role. He’s an off-beat pick, but Bigelow has proven with The Hurt Locker that she’s more than capable of directing emerging talents into star-making performance (hi, Jeremy Renner, Brian Geraghty, and Anthony Mackie). Pratt is slowly morphing into a very interesting actor who is more than able to pull off »

Chris Pratt Wants To Kill Bin Laden

Though he’s been plugging away for several years now, Chris Pratt has really made a name for himself on Us TV comedy Parks And Recreation. But while he’s proven some truly solid comic chops, he’s also appeared in dramas over the years, and puts in a memorably great turn in Moneyball. Now he’s looking to tackle a fresh challenge, entering talks to snatch the lead in Kathryn Bigelow’s Kill Bin Laden.Twitch reports that Pratt is wanted as one of the main army officers in the film, which is currently untitled, though still being informally referred to by its previous name.Bigelow has faced a few challenges getting her Hurt Locker follow-up moving, not least because of the Navy Seal mission that actually tracked down and killed Osama. And the casting process has been a slow one, with the likes of Joel Edgerton, Tom Hardy, »

Parks And Recreation's Chris Pratt May Star In Kill Bin Laden

13 December 2011 3:13 PM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Fans of NBC's Parks and Recreation have come to know actor Chris Pratt as the lovable and dim-witted Andy Dwyer, but now he's apparently up for a role that would cast him in a very different light. Twitch is breaking the news that Pratt is in talks to play the lead role in Kathryn Bigelow's film about the death of Osama Bin Laden, unofficially referred to as Kill Bin Laden. Pratt will join a cast that already includes Jason Clarke, and formerly included Joel Edgerton until he dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. It's unclear if Pratt is taking over the role formerly occupied by Edgerton, but both are described as "lead" roles, so that is most likely the case. Other actors rumored to be up for parts in the flick include Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, and Idris Elba. Pratt most recently appeared in both Moneyball and What's Your Number? »

Parks and Recreation Star Chris Pratt in Talks for Kathryn Bigelow’s Kill Bin Laden

13 December 2011 2:23 PM, PST | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

It would appear that Jonah Hill is not the only comedic actor whose career path has been altered significantly by Bennett Miller's Moneyball. As you may or may not know, Chris Pratt (best known for his portrayal of lovable dimwit Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation) played Oakland A's catcher turned first-baseman Scott Hatteberg in the film. He didn't have a ton of screen time, but he did have at least one fairly involved scene with Brad Pitt and proved that he can hold his own as a dramatic actor. Now it appears that Pratt is on the verge of landing his biggest opportunity yet: Kathryn Bigelow wants him for the lead role in her upcoming action drama Kill Bin Laden. That's right, Andy Dwyer could be going toe to toe with the head of Al Qaeda. Who wouldn't pay to see that? According to Twitch, Pratt is now »

Parks And Recreation Star Chris Pratt in Talks to Topline Kathryn Bigelow’s Untitled Hunt for Bin Laden Drama

13 December 2011 2:02 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

It looks like director Kathryn Bigelow may have finally found the lead for her untitled drama about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden (formerly titled Kill Bin Laden). Joel Edgerton was previously set to topline, but scheduling conflicts forced him to drop out and now Twitch reports that Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt is in talks to take the lead role. Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal (who also wrote Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker) retooled the project after Bin Laden was finally killed, and now it looks like they’re getting around to firming up the cast. The only other confirmed actor is Jason Clarke (The Chicago Code), but a number of performers have been rumored as possibilities for supporting roles (Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Jennifer Ehle, and Guy Pearce to name a few). Pratt is a peculiar choice as he’s not necessarily known for dramatic roles, but »

‘Parks & Rec’ Star Chris Pratt To Kill Bin Laden For Kathryn Bigelow

13 December 2011 12:57 PM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Chris Pratt is about to get one huge career shift. He had a bit part in the action film Wanted, but the Parks and Recreation star is mostly known for his comedy, while showing a mix of both in this year’s Moneyball. Twitch is now reporting he could be getting a break-out role not dissimilar to Jeremy Renner‘s Oscar-nominated turn in The Hurt Locker.

Pratt is in talks to take over Kathryn Bigelow‘s Bin Laden film. Formerly going under the title Kill Bin Laden, the project has attracted names such as Joel Edgerton and Jason Clarke, but if Pratt takes the role he could join, while Guy Pearce, Tom Hardy and Idris Elba continue to circle.

The Seal Team Six film recently got some heat from legal accusations by a New York State representative, but it is back on track for production this February. Pratt’s Andy Dwyer »

Intoxicating First Official Images Of Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby With Leonardo DiCaprio And Carey Mulligan

13 December 2011 10:52 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s renowned The Great Gatsby is one of the many highly anticipated films due out next year, and we’ve already seen some great photos from the set back in August and last month.

We’ve now got two beautiful first official images from the film, courtesy of SassiSam via Collider, and they are truly intoxicating in their presentation of the glamour of Fitzgerald’s 1920s Jazz Age.

The Great Gatsby’s official synopsis surfaced back in September, along with a promise to do Fitzgerald’s story justice from Luhrmann, and it looks a little something like this:

““The Great Gatsby” follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, »

First Official Look: Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Joel Edgerton in ‘The Great Gatsby’

After a healthy crop of spy pics [1] have shown up showing Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan in costume for Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, here are the first official shots from Warner Bros. They certainly look good, but it would be difficult not to with a $100m+ budget and that cast. Take a gander at two images below and wonder about how the the glitter of the group shot will be so much more dazzling in 3D. [gallery columns="2"] I do love the shot of DiCaprio (as Jay Gatsby) with Carey Mulligan; they look just about perfect. I can't fault Luhrmann's casting at all. Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke and Gemma Ward are also in the film, and while we don't have any shots of them yet, I imagine by the time the film opens at Christmas 2012 we'll have seen plenty. “The Great Gatsby” follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway »

First Official Images From ‘The Great Gatsby’ Feature Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan & More

13 December 2011 7:39 AM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

The film won’t be hitting theaters for over a year, but Warner Bros has released the first two official images from Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby. These two photos feature Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan, which we’ve seen before on set. The above photo also provides our first look at Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan. The fantastic actor of Animal Kingdom, Warrior and The Square has yet to break out, but with this film I hope he gets his due. Their look is quite spot-on of what I pictured and I’m sure more grandiose touches from Luhrmann will be revealed as we get closer to release. This F. Scott Fitzgerald adaptation remains to be one of the many highly-anticipated films hitting next December. Check out the second photo below.

The Great Gatsby also stars Isla Fisher, Callan McAuliffe, Gemma Ward and Jason Clarke. »
