(Not to be confused with the 1999 film of the same name starring Guy Pearce, Robert Carlyle and David Arquette) The film centers on Briana Evigan ( Sorority Row , Mother's Day ) and her autistic little brother both trapped in a house during a hurricane with a tiger. Last House On The Left 's Garret Dillahunt is responsible for unleashing the beast in the house to stalk Evigan. It’s not easy trying to keep your kid alive, what with all the cannibals running around licking their lips. For one, kids being kids, they don’t always listen to you, and let’s face it, haven’t we all entertained the idea of selling our kids for a nice meal at least once? Or not. Here are some new images from John Hillcoat’s depress-a-ton, aka his adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road”. Sure it’s depressing as shit and you’ll probably want to slit your wrist after seeing it, but man, does it all look visually awesome or what? Based on the novel of the same name by award-winning writer Cormac McCarthy, “The Road” follows an unamed father (Viggo Mortensen) and his son (Kodi Smit-McPhee) as they try to make their way through a post-apocalyptic America, encountering tragedy and cannibals along the way. Starring Charlize Theron, »

A new trailer debuted today for the post-apocalyptic scare-fest The Road and we've got it for you, scorched Earth and all. Dig it!
The Road starring Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, Robert Duvall, and Garret Dillahunt is the epic post-apocalyptic tale of a journey taken by a father (Mortensen) and his young son (newcomer Kodi Smit-McPhee) across a barren landscape that was blasted by an unnamed cataclysm that destroyed civilization and most life on earth.
Look for the film in theatres on November 25th because who doesn't like a side of mayhem with their turkey?

I love Halloween episodes. They’re less cheesy than Valentine’s Day drivel, and generally funnier than Christmas and Thanksgiving episodes (plus, we don’t have to deal with guest-star relatives). This All Hallows Eve week we got two gems: The Mentalist and Castle. Since y’all always say I give The Mentalist and Criminal Minds short shrift, I’ll start with the faux-psychic (particularly since there was no meeting of the Minds this week). Anybody who’s been watching procedurals as long as we have (I know you’re out there, McMillan & Wife fans) has to appreciate the occasional »

Actor Hugh Jackman's penchant for singing and dancing is well known, as is the musical side of Robert Pattinson, who recorded tracks for the Twilight and New Moon soundtracks. But singing karaoke ... to Abba? According to what Pattinson told the Sydney Morning Herald, that's exactly what the two actors did to bond in anticipation of starring together in actress Madeleine Stowe's directorial debut, Unbound Captives.
We met up in Japan and we went karaoke singing. We were singing Abba songs, it was pretty funny. It was sort of an Abba song sing-off, you know, last man standing.
So who won the competition, Edward Cullen or Wolverine? Apparently, claws beat fangs when it comes to Swedish pop.
I think [Hugh] won, only because he can drink more than me and still sing in tune. He's a cool guy and I'm really looking forward to that film.
Stowe also wrote the screenplay for Unbound Captives, »

As a science fiction nerd, I was onboard Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles at the word “Terminator”. The show focuses on the bond between Sarah and her son John as they work together with the first cute Terminator, Cameron, to stave off Armageddon. Were they successful? Was it entertaining? More after the jump.
For those unfamiliar with the Terminator franchise… In the first film, aptly titled The Terminator, Kyle Reese comes back to the present to protect Sarah Connor from a killer robot called, you guessed it, the Terminator (played by then actor, now Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger). While in our present, Reese regales Sarah with stories of his heroic fight with the resistance against machines behind their leader, her son John. Prior to his arrival, Sarah wasn’t even pregnant. A little bit of intimacy with Kyle solves that problem (thanks time travel!) Sarah then goes about trying »

It’s that time of year again. The pumpkins are out, the leaves are turning colors, the air is brisk and chilly. It’s time for the spooky stories, the frightening films, the maybe not so scary but at times certainly inventive costumes and that most important element…..candy corn. Yes folks, Halloween season is upon us once again.
My yearly tradition on All Hallows Eve is to hole up in my house, turn off all the lights and settle in to a nice good ole fashioned Horror movie. What other way to celebrate right? I figured this would be the perfect time to run down a list movies that fit this time of year perfectly. Let’s run them down by letter shall we?

Short Version: The Road taps the power, beauty and horror of Cormac McCarthy’s novel and gives us a movie that is both gorgeous and gut-wrenching.
Screen Rant Reviews The Road
For those biting their nails in anticipation (I know you’re out there), I’ll skip the usual opening fanfare and get right to it: In my opinion, director John Hillcoat has successfully taken the power, beauty and horror of Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Road and translated it, intact, to the big screen. I think that those moviegoers who don’t already read McCarthy now have another good example of why they should (The Coen Brothers’ No Country For Old Men being the other); I think that those who Do read McCarthy will at least be happy that the movie version “didn’t screw it up,” and at most will truly appreciate the movie based on its own merits. »

Chicago – The excellent Blu-Ray release for the second season of “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” highlights what worked about this series that was cancelled far too soon. There were storytelling flaws and a male lead that never quite worked, but “Scc” delivered theatrical caliber sci-fi entertainment every week and it looks absolutely amazing in HD. It’s a show that will be missed.
Blu-Ray Rating: 4.0/5.0
When it came time to announce the fall schedules, most of us knew that Fox could only afford to renew one, relatively low-rated, sci-fi show - “Dollhouse” or “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”. Most assumed it would be the latter but, as we all know by now, Eliza Dushku lived to fight another day, Lena Headey was stopped in her tracks, and Summer Glau actually jumped from the cancelled show to the one miraculously saved.

Come on, people, you never leave the perp with Wentworth Miller! That’s Article 96, Section 242, Clause 3 of the Procedural Code! Wait, wait. Before we get too shouty about last night’s Law & Order: Svu, let’s call the meeting to order and go over some Beat Cop business. At our last meeting, commenter Judy Woodruff (let’s just assume that’s an alias, and the PBS anchor is way busy with actual news) asked if we’re going to loop Southland (tonight at 9 on NBC) into our discussions. This brings up an excellent point, Coppers: What counts as a procedural? »

Tonight was the premiere episode of CSI’s 10th season. At the end of last season, we saw two things: Langston volunteering at a hospital in his spare time - and him having to use, for the first time, deadly force to kill someone. Let’s see where this new season picks up and what, if any, ramifications it has had on him and what the entire team has been up to.
My interest is more than a little piqued for this premiere episode as we see the return of Sarah. The episode descriptions promise that they welcome her return as they become tighter to investigate the death of a famous young actress killed in a dubious traffic collision.
As with my previous CSI recap, review and discussion, I’m warning you now that I’m going to spoil everything. I’ll even spoil the commercials for you (Target, Pepsi). See, »

Five clips from The Road, have just arrived online. They're not exactly spoilerific, and it's not that they're not good, but if we were you, we wouldn't watch them anyway. Twelve whole minutes of John Hillcoat's long, long delayed, eagerly-awaited Viggo Mortensen-starring adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's brutal post-apocalyptic novel may seem tempting. But seriously, just trust us, you'll feel bad for indulging. We have to report these things, but honestly, you'll want to just wait and see these as part of the whole movie. Look away. Go and read about Rambo 5....Still here? Very well then, on your own head be it.Never Killed a Man is essentially a two-hander between Viggo and Garret Dillahunt, who recently stood out in the otherwise unremarkable Last House on the Left remake, and was so great in Deadwood they let him play Jack McCall and Francis Wolcott. Here he's playing The Gang Member. »

Let’s face it, John Hillcoat’s “The Road”, based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy, is gonna depress the hell outta you. It’s a drab, dark, and gritty little film with a big Hollywood budget about an unnamed man and his unnamed son as they try to survive in a post-apocalyptic America. This involves running afoul of cannibals, guys with guns, crazy old men at campfires, and diving for food. It’s good fun if you can survive it. Check out five whopping extended clips from the movie that have shown up on YouTube. Viggo Mortensen, Robert Duvall, Charlize Theron, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Garret Dillahunt star in the film. John Hillcoat directs an adapted screenplay from Joe Penhall. The film will feature a new and original score from Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, who most recently provided the wonderful score for “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.”
“The Road” is due to hit screens on October 16th, 2009 in The United States.
From Variety…
This “Road” leads nowhere. If you’re going to adapt a book like Cormac McCarthy’s 2006 bestseller, you’re pretty much obliged to make a terrific film or it’s not worth doing — first because expectations are high, and second, because the picture needs to make it worth people’s while to sit through something so grim….

Garret Dillahunt is a busy man.
The actor has already guest-starred on CSI, Lie to Me and Law & Order: Svu over the last year. Up next? A stint on Burn Notice.
As first reported by Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly, Dillahunt will portray Simon, an intelligent new client of Michael’s. The episode will air this winter and also feature the return of John Mahoney.
