It was recently announced that Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, Alias, Midnight Meat Train) will be headlining Relativity Media and Rogue Picture's thriller titled "Dark Fields". Cooper has replaced "Transformers" star Shia Labeouf according to reports. The movie is based on a book of the same name by author Alan Glynn. Neil Burger will be directing the picture from a script written by Leslie Dixon (The Thomas Crown Affair). The premise is rather strange and I should be surprised that Bradley Cooper would headline a flick like this after moving to A-list status after the unexpected sucess of "The Hangover". Then again, he did star in "Midnight Meat Train" thus anything's possible. Read on to see what the movie is about.

That's only in the movies of course, Bradley Cooper doesn't need a drug to make him rich and powerful anymore. "The Hangover" star will be working on the suspense thriller "Dark Fields."
Neil Burger, the director who gave us "The Illusionist" (a criminally ignored film, if you haven't seen it yet, go rent it or buy it, it's brilliant!) is set to helm.
According to Variety, the plot is about "a designer drug that can make you rich and powerful. Eddie (Cooper) is a down-and-out New York writer until he possesses a pill that gives him the ability to access the full capacity of his brain. He soon realizes that his newfound intelligence and success come at a hefty price as mysterious forces begin to pursue him."
Leslie Dixon ("Hairspray") wrote the screenplay based on a novel by Alan Glynn. The film is set to shoot late spring of next year. »

The future Faceman may have lost the chance to fly as the Emerald Knight, but DC isn't the only place you can gain superpowers. You can also score them from top secret pharmaceuticals! (Don't try this at home, kids.) According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bradley Cooper is set to star in Dark Fields, a thriller directed by Neil Burger and based on the book by Alan Glynn.
Cooper will play a writer down on his luck who manages to get his poor paws on a secret drug that promises to make one smarter. He doesn't go ask Alice before popping them, and finds that it's a wonder drug. He enjoys writing success, wealth and women until the side effects kick in. They're long lasting, potentially lethal, and have the extra kick of making time appear as a stop-motion movie. As if that doesn't suck enough, mysterious and unpleasant men begin pursuing him. »

Actor Bradley Cooper has been cast as the lead in director Neil Burger's (The Illusionist) latest thriller, Dark Fields, replacing Shia Labeouf, who was originally up for the role. Cooper will play a struggling writer who experiments with Mdt-48, a drug that helps him tap into his brain's full potential, making him smarter and more charismatic. However, it also has some negative side-effects, such as headaches, blackouts, and violence. After his supply of the drug runs low, he goes in search of more only to discover its origins are deadlier than he could imagine.
Described as being in the same vein as The Game and Fight Club, the Dark Fields screenplay was adapted from Alan Glynn's book of the same name by Leslie Dixon (The Heartbreak Kid). Dixon, Scott Kroopf, and Relativity Media's Ryan Kavanaugh are producing, with Relativity's Tucker Tooley acting as executive producer.

The Hangover star Bradley Cooper is now set to replace Shia Labeouf in Neil Burger's (The Illusionist) upcoming thriller, Dark Fields. The film is an adaptation of the Alan Glynn book of the same name, and will feature a script by eclectic screenwriter, Leslie Dixon (The Thomas Crowne Affair, Mrs. Doubtfire, Hairspray). The film is among many projects Cooper has signed on for post-Hangover (which is strange, because I still know the guy best as Sydney Bristow's best friend on Alias). Cooper will play a struggling writer who takes a top-secret pharmaceutical drug that makes him smarter. He finds success, but also comes to learn there are consequences, such as the phenomenon "trip-switching" which makes him perceive time moving similar to stop-motion. The official book description follows: Imagine a drug that makes your brain function with perfect efficiency, tapping into your most fundamental resources of intelligence and drive, releasing »

Originally set to star Shia Labeouf as a down-on-his-luck loser who stumbles across a top-secret pharmaceutical drug that makes him super smart, the thriller “Dark Fields” has found a new leading man in “The Hangover’s” Bradley Cooper. The film, described as being in the vein of trippy David Fincher films “Fight Club” and “The Game”, will be directed by Neil Burger of “The Illusionist” fame, and will be based on the book by Alan Glynn, with big-screen adaptation courtesy of Leslie Dixon. Upon discovering the super drug, Cooper’s writer character experiences sudden financial and social success thanks to his new big brain, but soon discovers that the drug has lethal and lasting side effects, as they surely must. One of these side effects involve “trip-switching,” a phenomenon in which time moves with a stop-motion quality, which will no doubt be revealed onscreen in all manner of groovy visuals. »

Bradley Cooper, who shot to stardom in this summer’s The Hangover, has replaced Shia LeBeouf to star in Relativity Media’s Dark Fields.
Cooper will be playing a writer who’s down on his luck and manages to stumble upon a secret pharmaceutical drug designed to make a person smarter. The drug leads to the writer gaining financial and social success, but of course there’s always a catch. In this case, the drug has lethal side effects, including one that causes time to move in a stop-motion manner.
Dark Fields is said to be along the lines of Fight Club and The Game (both stellar movies, by the way) and, also like Fight Club, is based on a novel.
Alan Glynn’s book has been made into a screenplay by Leslie Dixon, the writer behind the screenplay for The Thomas Crown Affair. Dixon will also serve as producer of Dark Fields, »

The 34 year old actor's been working fairly steadily since 2001, but this summer's runaway hit, The Hangover, catapulted him into 'in-demand' status. Now The Hollywood Reporter says Cooper's signed on to yet another project: Dark Fields.
Set up at Relativity Media, Dark Fields is based on the book of the same name by Alan Glynn and tells the story of a struggling writer who gets involved with a new smart drug that produces deadly side effects. Leslie Dixon will be adapting the screenplay. Neil Burger (The Illusionist) is directing.
Cooper will next be seen in the romantic comedy Valentine's Day with Julia Roberts, Taylor Lautner, and Jessica Biel. He's currently at work on the big screen version of the classic TV show, The A-Team.
