Family: Fast/Furious, 2001-2017

How can we not talk about family When family's all that we got?—Wiz Khalifa (feat. Charlie Puth), See You AgainWhat a long, strange ride it's been… and still some way to go. As I write, the eighth film in the Fast/Furious series (Ff) is still playing in thousands of cinemas worldwide. I won't concern myself here with the box-office performance of The Fate of the Furious—nor will I attempt synopsis of this or the previous installments—except to note that enough money was taken on opening-day alone to confirm we can expect the ninth and tenth in this prodigiously lucrative Universal franchise to hit our screens late spring or early summer, in 2019 and 2021.Ideally the 10th—and, presuming Vin Diesel's September 2015 comment about "one last trilogy" is honored, final—picture should arrive exactly 20 years after Rob Cohen’s The Fast and the Furious bowed on 22nd June,

Helen Mirren Gets Wicked in New Fate of the Furious TV Spot

Helen Mirren Gets Wicked in New Fate of the Furious TV Spot
Last summer, it was confirmed that Oscar winner Helen Mirren has been cast in The Fate of the Furious, although the actress revealed that, despite her impressive driving skills, which have been showcased on the U.K. series Top Gear in the past, she won't be getting behind the wheel in this movie. A few months ago, it was finally confirmed that Helen Mirren is portraying the mother of Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), and we get a brief glimpse at their mother-son dynamic in a new TV spot from Universal Pictures. If that wasn't enough, the studio has also released a new behind-the-scenes preview that gives fans a closer look at their intense New York City shoot.

The new TV spot from Universal Pictures begins with a scene where Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto has a meeting with Helen Mirren's unnamed character, who tells Dom that she has a

Fast 8 Press Tour Is Keeping Vin Diesel and The Rock Separated

Fast 8 Press Tour Is Keeping Vin Diesel and The Rock Separated
Last August, while Universal's massive blockbuster sequel The Fate of the Furious was in its final week of production, the normally-gregarious Dwayne Johnson raised some eyebrows and made headlines with a scathing social media post, calling some of his male co-stars "candy-asses." He added that during some scenes where it might look like he's legitimately angry, his blood is "literally boiling," and he's not actually acting in those scenes. While Dwayne Johnson never named any specific names, it has long been established that the target of Dwayne Johnson's ire is Vin Diesel, who has been known to be quite difficult on set. After the incident had boiled over, a studio source said that there wasn't expected to be any "lingering effects" when it came time to promote the movie, but today we have a new report that both stars are being kept separated during the sequel's press tour, leading

The Fate of the Furious: The Rules Have Changed In New International Trailer

The Fast and Furious franchise has had a storied existence. What started out as a drama involving a cop getting in too deep turned into a ridiculous, over-the-top, superhero franchise with almost as many explosions as your average Transformers flick (okay, maybe not almost as many). Like any good TV series, the Fast and Furious series has taken some time to find its sea legs, and when the fourth film hit, it seemed clear that they knew which direction they needed to be heading in.

Now, several years later, we find ourselves a couple short months from the release of The Fate of the Furious, the eighth film in the series. In spite of original lead Paul Walker’s tragic death a few years back, the gang is still moving forward in style. This time around, however, they’re short one more man in the form of Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto.

Fate Of The Furious Super Bowl Spot: Dom Goes Rogue

The Fast & Furious films have spent seven movies building up the gang as a family. In fact, I’m pretty sure family is the single most used word in the entire franchise. So driven home was the fact that they were all family, that one never thought they’d turn on each other.

When the first trailer for Fate of the Furious, the eighth film in the series (On a side note, is anyone else annoyed they didn’t write it as “F8 of the Furious”?), hit the web, it was revealed that for some unknown reason, Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, would turn on the gang. Of course, the question going into the movie will be, “Why, Dominic, why?” But, seeing as the film isn’t hitting for some time, I don’t expect a real answer anytime soon.

Until then, let’s just enjoy the fun round
