Vanessa Lynn Williams is a strikingly beautiful, well respected, and multi-talented star of the stage and screen. This critically acclaimed American actress/model/singer/songwriter arrived on March 18, 1963, leaving no doubt that a star was born. As if somehow predicting the future, her parents, Helen and Milton Augustine Williams Jr., issued a birth announcement which read "Here she is, Miss America." After competing in beauty pageants since the early 1980's, Vanessa was indeed crowned Miss America 1984 on September 17, 1983, making history as the first African-American woman to earn the title. Her parents, both half white/half African American, were music teachers who recognized and encouraged Vanessa's love of the arts from early on. Vanessa and her younger brother Chris, also an actor, were raised in a predominantly white, middle-class town in the suburban area of Milwood, New York. Joss Whedon refuses to go flat in the last few episodes of "Dollhouse". A casting news has emerged via EW that the executive producer has tapped Eliza Dushku's real-life boyfriend, Rick Fox, to guest star in an episode before the show wraps it all on January 22.
Fox will appear as an Active on January 8 episode called "Getting Closer". EW wrote, "Fox's Doll will be seen rising from the imprint chair after having been given his original personality back. Next thing you know [spoiler alert!], he's being released into the wild along with dozens of other Dolls."
A preview of "Getting Closer" has actually been given last week, showing that the Dollhouse is under liquidation threat. Summer Glau also appears as her recurring role, Bennett Halverson.
This is not the first time Rick Fox shares screen with someone close to him. In 2007, he made a cameo as the bodyguard of Vanessa Williams »

Sources confirm to me exclusively that the hoops star-turned-actor (Dirt, One Tree Hill) will appear as an Active in the Jan. 8 episode of the soon-to-expire drama. In the don't-blink-or-you'll-miss-it cameo, Fox's Doll will be seen rising from the imprint chair after having been given his original personality back. Next thing you know (spoiler alert!), he's being released into the wild along with dozens of other Dolls. Ella starts to smell something fishy is going on with Lauren and her sudden wealth. In the upcoming episode of "Melrose Place", Ella discovers Lauren's expensive new clothing and lingerie plus a large envelope of cash and confronts her roommate about the late nights she's been working.

After being single for almost eight months, Eliza Dushku has finally found her new man. In a recent interview with TV Guide magazine, the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star has admitted that she is currently dating former Los Angeles Lakers player Rick Fox, who was previously married to Vanessa Williams.
Eliza claimed she and Rick have been friends for about ten years, but it was not until this year that their relationship became romantic. He is reportedly going to be playing the proprietor of a restaurant where all the aspiring actors on the show work at,while trying to land their dream acting job. Rick Fox has previously starred in other shows,including a couple of CW shows which include, "One Tree Hill," "The Game," "Ugly Betty," and "Oz." Rick Fox has been added to the cast of Melrose Place, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
Fox will play the owner of a restaurant at which both Auggie (Colin Egglesfield) and Violet (Ashlee Simpson-Wentz) work. The casting was first reported by the Hollywood Reporter. The former Los Angeles Laker-turned-actor has previously appeared on One Tree Hill, Ugly Betty (with ex-wife Vanessa Williams) and The Game.

Rick Fox played small forward for years with the Los Angeles Lakers.
But the former professional basketball player will soon be part of an even more iconic L.A.-based group of characters: the cast of Melrose Place. He's signed on for a recurring role on The CW drama.
Fox will portray the owner of a restaurant. We're assuming it's the establishment where Auggie works as a chef and (mini-spoiler alert!) where Violet lands the gig of hostess in the show's second episode.

Eliza Dushku, who plays the lead role in TV series "Dollhouse", reportedly is dating Canadian actor and retired professional basketball player Rick Fox. Both of them are said to have been spotted enjoying a series of night outings in Miami, Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada.
"They'd been trying to play down their relationship. But there's no denying that it's hot and heavy," a source tells Star Magazine. "She's completely smitten with him, and they have an amazing time together."
Prior to her alleged romance with Rick Fox, Eliza Dushku dated Brad Penny, who currently serves as the starting pitcher in Major League Baseball for the Boston Red Sox. However, she announced in early February this year that they had broken up.
As for Rick, he previously was married to actress-singer Vanessa Williams. The former couple has one daughter named Sasha. »

I have spent most of my career reporting on and studying sports and entertainment. Athletes and actors have very similar personality traits. In fact, many athletes secretly harbor acting aspirations and plenty of actors wish they could have been pro ballplayers and wind up playing in celebrity all-star games and pro ams.
