Simon Helberg as Howard Wolowitz on The Big Bang Theory: Move over for a few moments, Leonard and Sheldon. Neither of you can compete with the nerdy swagger Wolowitz walks around with. Helberg has made a big impression on Big Bang viewers.

Michael C. Hall and his wife Jennifer Carpenter were side-by-side Monday for a trip to a Whole Foods in La. The happy couple and Dexter costars are laying low between seasons of their hit show after their most recent finale aired just a few weeks ago. Jennifer was decked out in tight jeans and boots for their grocery store run, and she seemed to be a great mood as she joked around with Michael on their way to the car. Both she and Michael have good reason to be happy during the holidays - New Year's Eve holds a special significance for the duo, as they tied the knot on December 31 of last year. Dexter may be over, but, if you're dying from the post-season 4 blues, there are still new episodes from the Dexter Early Cuts web series you can check out. In this latest Chapter from Dexter's 2004 undocumented life, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) hunts the black widow Cindy Landon. When Cindy isn't killing rich husbands for their bank stash, she's a freelance magician's assistant. You've heard the phrase, "Offense gets the glory, but defense wins the game." In this episode, Dexter coins a new phrase, "The magician may be the one who gets the glory, but you ask me Cindy is the one doing the tricks." »

Zap2it's favorite TV episodes of the decade series continues with my picks for what moved me in the 2000s.
Let me preface my list with a shout out to my colleague Rick, who kicked off the series with numerous excellent examples, ranging from "The Wire" to "Freaks and Geeks." I actually agreed with quite a number of his selections, but since this is a very personal endeavor, full of unfounded opinions, naturally I must include some episodes I feel he overlooked or at least didn't value as much as I.
Case in point: Joss Whedon. Really, Rick? How could an episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" not even make your main list and only warrant an "also" mention? Hmph.
My list:
"The Body" ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer")
Although "Hush" and its creepy Gentlemen freaked me out (and earned "Buffy" its only writing Emmy nom), it aired in December 1999, just »

In his 1966 essay entitled "The Subverters," Manny Farber hoped "for a new award at the year's end: Most Subversive Actor." His complete film criticism, "Farber On Film," was published this year, and in his honor I'm submitting a list of five nominees for this wished-for fake trophy. But his definition of "subversive" is a tricky one -- at the beginning of the essay, he describes the "subversive nature of the medium: the flash-bomb vitality that one scene, actor, or technician injects across the grain of a film."
For Farber, movies are complex mechanisms built upon the collision of artistic temperaments, not monoliths that can be encapsulated in a single theme, performance or mood. So he focuses on the small, telling details that exist on the outskirts of the plot, thrilling to actors who "can ply around the edges, trying to budge a huge, flabby movie script". It's the marvel of »

A week after the record-breaking season finale of Dexter, and I am still reeling from Rita's death. So are the cast and crew members. EW.com has a couple of really interesting interviews that are kind of a season debriefing. Dexter himself, Michael C. Hall, talks about losing his "wife," Julie Benz, and the Dexter/Trinity relationship. Meanwhile, executive producer Clyde Phillips discusses the agonizing decision to kill off Rita, and the possible directions that season five might go in. He doesn't give up any details, but to be fair, they haven't actually gone into production yet on the next season. It is going to be a long year waiting for season five. »

It's been a full week and we're still reeling over the season finale of Dexter . Both Michael C. Hall and producer Clyde Phillips conducted interviews with Entertainment Weekly pertaining to the shocking last few moments of Season Four of the Showtime hit series. Below are a few select quotes from both chats. Beware if you have not seen this season (or the episode) yet, the following is very Spoiler Heavy. Michael C. Hall's thoughts on that final scene? "I thought it was brilliant," he says. "I was really proud of the writers, and the network, for not backing away from so bold a step. It really propels us forward in a way that we wouldn.t have enjoyed otherwise. And what it could mean for the character is really wide open." Pertaining to the potential »

In the days following the Dexter season four finale, we've heard from show producers and show stars such as John Lithgow and Michael C. Hall.
Everyone had a lot to say about Rita's shocking death, but fans have been waiting all week to hear from Julie Benz herself. How did she react when told of her character's demise? Will Rita turn into a ghost?
E! News asked these questions, and many more, of the actress. Her candid replies are below...
On any kind of return: "There has been no talk of me coming back to the series in any way. A lot of people have been begging me to tell them that I'm going to come back, and I'm like, 'Rita's dead!' Rita is dead and Trinity killed her... I don't think it could get any more obvious that Trinity killed Rita. Rita is dead."

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards nominations were announced today, and in large part they mirror those who got the nod from the Golden Globes earlier this week. Although whereas the Globes are a robust 67 years old, the SAGs are merely Sweet 16.
In any event, here are the genre-related nominees with most of them falling in the television categories:
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role: Stanley Tucci for The Lovely Bones
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series: Michael C. Hall for Dexter
Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series: Patricia Arquette for Medium (no Anna Paquin, which is a rather big surprise)
Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series: Dexter and True Blood (makes up for Paquin's earlier snub, I suppose)
Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series: Dexter and Heroes
Of special note is that the much beloved, »

The morning the Screen Actors Guild announced the nominees for the 16th annual SAG awards. The actual ceremony will be held Saturday, January 23rd. There are a lot of gay-faves on the list of nominees.

Freshmen series Glee and Modern Family are competing against each other for Beest TV Comedy Ensemble.

Causing a yawn followed by sad resignation, this year’s Screen Actors Guild Award nominations are unimaginative and a depressing indicator of what we could be seeing when the Oscar nominations are announced on February 2nd. There’s not a single nominee that surprises. Even the out-of-left-field Best Supporting Actress nomination of Diane Kruger for Inglourious Basterds feels more like a comment on the lack of good roles for actresses rather than an attempt to bring attention to an overlooked performance.
You can see the full list of nominees after the jump along with the equally-dull nominations for TV actors.

'Inglourious Basterds,' '30 Rock' also score big nominations.
By Eric Ditzian
George Clooney in "Up in the Air"
Thursday morning's nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Awards have confirmed what has become increasingly clear since the Golden Globe noms two days earlier: Films like "Up in the Air" and "Precious" are the indisputable favorites heading into the peak of awards season.
Both of those films, as well as Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds," racked up three nods each, followed by the likes of "The Hurt Locker" and "Nine," each with two. With just five motion picture categories — including an Outstanding Performance by a Cast in place of the more traditional recognition for best film — no one movie dominated the results.
The films recognized for their casts are "An Education," "Hurt Locker," "Basterds," "Nine" and "Precious." Save for "Education," all of these films were recognized in a Best Motion Picture category at the Globes. »
