Teen Wolf returns as a MTV Series

15 December 2009 10:38 AM, PST | doorQ.com | See recent doorQ.com news »

Teen Wolf is the latest of old movies becoming TV shows. However, this one will be different; more serious matters, less comedy and basketball games:

MTV has assembled the acting pack for "Teen Wolf," its reinvention of the 1985 movie.

Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and Dylan O'Brien have been cast in the pilot presentation penned by "Criminal Minds" creator Jeff Davis.

MTV's take on the film, which starred Michael J. Fox as a high-school student who discovers he is a werewolf, is a dramatic thriller with a buddy-comedy element at the center and a romantic plot line. It revolves around Scott McCall (Posey), a dorky high-school student who gets a rush of new powers, including the ability to attract girls, after a wolf attack.

So I guess the new show will not be like the cartoon version.

I actually enjoyed this version.

Tyler Posey gets hairy as new Teen Wolf

Actor Tyler Posey will transform into the new Teen Wolf, taking the role Michael J. Fox made famous to the small screen. Fox played a teenager with seriously out of control body hair in the 1985 original, while Jason Bateman played the part in Teen Wolf Too. Now Posey, 18, will take on the role of Scott McCall - a high-school student who gains powers after being attacked by a wolf, including a special talent for attracting girls. Posey is best known for his roles in Us series Lincoln Heights and Brothers & Sisters. Young stars Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and Dylan O’Brien have also been cast in the pilot for MTV. Teen Wolf Remake Gets a Cast

15 December 2009 1:22 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

There’s a couple of movies that have been announced that I’m really not looking forward to. The first is the remake of The Karate Kid which stars Will Smith’s son, Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan (currently being filmed in Hong Kong) and now, Teen Wolf.

THR have reported today that the cast has been chosen for the remake of this 80s classic. This is one of the quirkiest movies ever made but when I was growing up, I absolutely loved it. It shouldn’t be re-made for the fear that it may be completely wrecked and no one could play this role as well as Michael J. Fox did.

Anyway, off my high-horse and onto the news. THR have said that ‘Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and Dylan O’Brien have been cast in the pilot presentation penned by “Criminal Minds” creator Jeff Davis.’

Teen Wolf Remake Has a Cast

14 December 2009 11:40 PM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

We've not reported on the Teen Wolf remake before, because we were losing the will to live, but with casting now well underway, maybe it's time to grit our teeth.Post (or, we guess, during) Twilight, and with Benicio's The Wolfman finally gathering near-release hype momentum, a new Teen Wolf was perhaps a no-brainer. MTV certainly thought so, and their version of the Michael J Fox comedy from 1985 (which would almost certainly never have hit if not for Back to the Future) is being developed as a TV series with "a greater emphasis on romance, horror and werewolf mythology." No basketball then. The lead character of a nerdy high schooler who gets superpowers and charisma from a wolfbite, will be played by Tyler Posey, from Brothers and Sisters and Smallville (he was also in Collateral Damage: one of two little Arnie connections, since the original Teen Wolf was written by Jeff Loeb, »

MTV Hires Teen Wolf Cast; Tries to Capture Twilight Magic

14 December 2009 11:26 PM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

The legacy of Michael J. Fox and Jason Bateman are about to be tarnished a bit by the Twilight movement. Or at least, that's how the history books will remember it -- if in fact, it makes it into the history books. MTV has assembled a cast for its upcoming television remake of Teen Wolf, the reinvention of the classic 1985 guilty pleasure that his been called the "most average movie of all-time" by members of this site. We hold it so dear that it has become the basis for the rating system employed by Reject Radio. And like any average movie from the 1980s, or popular teen novel series, this movie needs more teen abs. Providing the abs and angst will be Tyler Posey (pictured above), Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and Dylan O'Brien. Posey will play Scott McCall, a dorky high-school student who gets a rush of new powers, including the ability to attract girls, after »

So Who's Starring in MTV's 'Teen Wolf'?

14 December 2009 12:01 PM, PST | Fandango | See recent Fandango news »

Not long ago we told you how MTV was reviving the 1980s cult favorite Teen Wolf and turning it into a hip new TV show for the Twi-hard generation. The original 1985 film starred Michael J. Fox as a high school student who one day learns that he's part wolf. After being initially freaked out by this, he eventually uses his new way-too-hairy appearance to become the school's coolest cat (or, um, wolf).   The MTV series, however, will take things in a different (and more dramatic) direction. This version of Teen Wolf will star Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and Dylan O'Brien, and it will revolve around a teen (Posey) who takes on new powers after he's bitten during a wolf attack. Described as a "dramatic thriller with a buddy-comedy at the center and a romantic plot...

Four Actors Howl at MTV’s TV Remake of Teen Wolf

14 December 2009 11:01 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

THR reports that MTV is taking the 1985 Michael J. Fox comedy Teen Wolf and turning it into a “dramatic thriller with a buddy-comedy element at the center and a romantic plot line,”  and four actors have been cast in the lead roles.  Tyler Posey (Brothers & Sisters) will play Scott McCall, a dorky high-school student who gets a rush of new powers, including the ability to attract girls, after a wolf attack; Dylan O’Brien plays Scott’s best friend, “who is initially dismissive of Scott’s theory that he was bitten by a wolf but then begins research on human-werewolf transformation.”  Crystal Reed is the love interest and Tyler Hoechlin (7th Heaven) is, “a handsome local boy who in fact is a vicious and predatory werewolf capable of great harm.  I have very little hope for this project because nowhere in THR’s article did I read any mention of a werewolf playing basketball. »

MTV casts its 'Teen Wolf' (and he's the little boy from 'Maid in Manhattan'!)

14 December 2009 9:00 AM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

I realize that by writing this item, I not only outed the fact that I've seen 2002's Maid in Manhattan, but also that I consider the casting of Tyler Posey, the guy who played Jennifer Lopez's son in the film, as the star of MTV's Teen Wolf pilot worthy of an exclamation point. But come on! He was adorable in Maid in Manhattan! Granted, I haven't seen him act since then (he did do a recent stint on ABC Family's Lincoln Heights, pictured), but look at that face and tell me those eyes don't draw you in. Teen Wolf gets some Tylers

14 December 2009 8:02 AM, PST | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

We know a new version of the Michael J. Fox '80s flick Teen Wolf is coming to MTV. Now we have some names for the cast as well as a glimpse of the premise.

Apparently, MTV has cast two guys named Tyler as both the central protagonist and antagonist. Tyler Posey plays the nerdy high schooler who gets bitten by a wolf and Tyler Hoechlin has been cast as his arch-nemesis, another werewolf. One can only wonder if this casting was done in hopes that they would be confused for Taylor Lautner, the werewolf in the latest Twilight movie.

MTV’s Teen Wolf Series Continues to Move Forward. Insert Audible Sigh Here.

14 December 2009 7:27 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

I know I shouldn’t pass judgment on a series before production has started, but I think it’s fairly safe to say that MTV’s upcoming “Teen Wolf” series is going to be, well, extremely interesting, to say the very least. The show, of course, is loosely based on the 1985 Michael J. Fox vehicle directed by Rod Daniel, though I’m sure major adjustments will be made to allow this premise to thrive on a weekly basis. In terms of execution, I imagine the program will operate along the lines of MTV’s other scripted programs, namely “The Hills” and their current train wreck “Jersey Shore.” Only with more hair. A lot more hair. As you may have noticed, all attempts to disguise my contempt have systematically failed. Sorry about that. According to those tasty individuals at The Hollywood Reporter, upstarts Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed, and Dylan »

Teen Wolf Redo Finds His Pack

The quartet Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and Dylan O'Brien are set to star in MTV's remake of the 1985 comedy Teen Wolf . The pilot is being written by Jeff Davis ( Criminal Minds ) and is the network's further push for original (ahem, using the word loosely) content. In October, it produced the slasher film My Super Psycho Sweet 16 . According to THR, the story "revolves around Scott McCall (Posey), a dorky high-school student who gets a rush of new powers, including the ability to attract girls, after a wolf attack." Okay, the cast is in place, but who's directing? MTV hasn't let that cat out of the bag...yet. »
