Chicago – With its fifth season Blu-Ray release, “Lost” continues to make a case as the TV series with the most remarkable season DVD sets alongside award-winning season sets for shows like “24” and “The Simpsons”. With a technically flawless presentation and unique, in-depth special features, these sets perfectly balance an appeal to casual fans while also satisfying the hardcore one.
Blu-Ray Rating: 4.5/5.0
As for the story of “Lost,” if you’re completely unfamiliar with the show, you would be insane to start with season five. With every season of ABC’s hit show now available on Blu-Ray, you can go back to the beginning and work your way to this excellent penultimate outing. The sixth season, starting in February, will be the last. Catch up with one of the most important programs of the ’00s before it ends and we’re on to something being sold as “the next Lost”. There »

ABCs decision to broadcast the fifth season in murky 720 dpi is corrected here so fans who've been waiting for gorgeous HD 1080p clarity get all they could want here. The question is do they want more? I'm a huge fan of the show but can't help feeling a tiny bit disappointed that this is all they could come up with for gift packaging. You basically get a retro looking cardboard box. Then again this thing does have a serious Larp aspect to it and this edition is tailor made for anyone who likes that.
Lost will go down in TV history as one of the greatest adventure shows ever. Naysayers have complained that the show is aimless but the faithful can't wait to see how this thing is going to wrap up. And the characters of Lost have made the ride more than worth it.

We all knew that just because Jack and a few others got off the island their stories weren’t over. Whether you figured that out because the last episode of season four wasn’t the series finale or because it’s Lost and that ending is just too easy, it doesn’t really matter because everyone who left must return and then some. If you ever wondered how you keep introducing characters in a show about an island no one can find until they’ve arrived, Lost has an answer: time travel. The solution is at once genius and cheap in that it simultaneously gives a new slant to the meaning of the show’s title and yet demystifies the mythos surrounding the island’s past. The fifth season of Lost marked a noticeable upswing in story and cohesiveness but at what cost? The best storyline doesn’t start until »

ABC has released some promo pics from Lost Season 6, but in keeping with the wishes of producer/writers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse the images depict absolutely nothing. In fact, the thirty-one pictures released so far feature only individual cast members against a mockingly bland slate grey background. It's almost as frustrating as that fade to white from the season 5 finale.
ABC has not said whether or not they will grant Lindelof & Cuse's wishes and not release so much as a single frame from the Lost season six premiere prior to the debut of the ultimate season on February 2nd (Groundhog's day, for you all you time-loop theorists). Fans are clamoring for just a taste of what Lost's sixth and final season has to offer, but this may be all you see until 'La X' begins to roll.

Say this for ABC and the producers of "Lost": They are committed to the information lockdown as regards season six.
The network sent out its description of the season premiere, "La X," on Monday, and aside from making sure that we know there's a space between the "A" and the "X," the release says less than these things usually do.
Often with these documents, there's a one- or two-sentence description of the episode, a la this one from "Some Like It Hoth" last season: "Suspicions about a possible breach intensify after Ben is taken from the infirmary, and a reluctant Miles is forced to work with Hurley when he's asked to deliver an important package to a top Dharma official." It then lists the regular and guest cast and tells you who wrote and directed the episode. There's never a ton to grab onto, but it at least gives »

Get our your calendar and your magic markers and prepare for glory. ABC has announced today that they have set a date and time for the premiere of the final season of Lost, which as you know is probably the most anticipated season of television in the history of man. Right up there with "Who shot J.R.?" this final season will answer a thousand and one questions about one of the most popular dramas of this decade. And it all begins on February 2, 2010. On top of the premiere date, ABC has also announced on Thursday (Nov. 19) that Lost will be moving to a new night, airing on Tuesday nights at 9:00pm. The first episode will be preceded by an hour-long recap show (similar to last season), then there will be a 2-hour premiere from 9:00pm - 11:00pm. The first episode, entitled "Lax" will answer the questions left by the final episode of season »

[Obviously, if you've never seen Lost and are waiting until the entire series is available on DVD, stop reading now]
Let the official countdown begin. In 74 days, Lost one of TV’s best shows will begin its final season. Starting with a two-hour season premiere on February 2, 2010 at 9pm E.T., we begin (or hope) to unravel the island’s final mysteries: the smoke monster, time jumping, the statue, the temple, the island’s healing power, why the dead appear to the living, and so many other questions. It’s all come to this and 74 days seems like an eternity and yet by the time the series finale airs sometime in May 2010, it will feel like it was over too fast.
After its two-hour premiere (which will follow the inevitable yet likely helpful one-hour recap show), Lost will begin airing at its regular time slot of 9-10pm Et on Tuesday nights beginning the following week, February 9th. So grab your constant, blow the hatch, and get ready for the end. »

Finally… we have a date. February 2nd will be the premiere of Lost's final season. Assuming there are no weeks off, and Lost's two hour finale is counted as two of the eighteen hours we will get, the series finale would air May 18th, 2010.
Sweeps season is April 29th to May 26. I would assume this means the rumored two-week hiatus will not happen since I'm sure ABC is expecting tons of stray Lost fans to tune in for the final reveals – but we'll have to wait on that to be sure.
