Focus Features Sets 2010 Release Dates for Six Films

12 November 2009 4:04 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

The other day we premiered the first images and official synopses from Focus Features Greenberg, The Eagle of the Ninth, and Somewhere.  Now, thanks to Focus sending out a press release, we have an idea when some of them are getting released.

On March 12th, director Noah Baumbach’s Greenberg will hit theaters for a limited release. The film stars Ben Stiller.  After that we’re getting Thomas Balmes Babies on April 16th and director Anton Corbijn’s The American on September. 1st.  That’s the George Clooney assassin film.  Sometime in the third quarter will be Kevin Macdonald’s Roman adventure The Eagle of the Ninth, and in November It’s Kind of a Funny Story gets released.  The big question mark is Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere, which still doesn’t have a release date.

The thing to remember is release dates change all the time, so before you »

Fall Frights: 28 Weeks Later (Film Review)

20 October 2009 12:15 AM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

In the spirit of Halloween '09, we're breaking out reviews (some new, some old) of some Fall Frights you may want to work into your monthly viewing.

Sequels aren’t supposed to be as good as 28 Weeks Later, which does what more follow-ups should, and so few do: It uses the concepts introduced in its predecessor as the spine for a fresh dramatic story, instead of simply rehashing the elements that made the original work. In so doing, it manages at numerous points to be every bit as scary and intense as the original, while maintaining an even bleaker and more uncompromising outlook. This is not the kind of cinematic second helping that hedges its commercial bets by scaling back the confrontational stuff.

28 Weeks Later was directed and co-scripted by Spain’s Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who won significant acclaim for his 2001 debut feature Intacto. I admired that film »

Updates: Top 50 Hottest Young Actors - Moving up the rankings!

Time flies when you're having fun! I'm surprised that we're now doing the 4th update of the Top 50 Hottest Young Actors list! This time, I'm pretty sure the debates will be hotter, more 'personal' as fans defend their favorite actors and argue why "Robert Ulliel" (Who's that?) should be on top and not "Gaspard Pattinson" or "Joseph Gordon-Gosling".

- - -

- - - The Hitlist History, so far... During the first Top 50 Hitlist, it was Ryan Gosling who took the top spot. With his mesmerizing performance in Half Nelson and an Oscar nom for Best Actor for the same movie, he led a pack of awesome talents including James McAvoy, Jake Gyllenhaal and Gaspard Ulliel among others. The 2nd time we did the hitlist, the movie world was swept away by the Twilight fever, and before anyone recognized how 'hot' he was, Robert Pattinson was already at the top of our list. »
