Leona Lewis has notched up a second week at number one with her version of Snow Patrol's 'Run'. Kings of Leon narrowly miss out on scoring a second consecutive chart-topper, climbing from ten to two with 'Use Somebody'. The highest new entry of the week is 'Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth', a single recorded by Aled Jones and Sir Terry Wogan in aid of Children In Need. Britney Spears falls to four with 'Womanizer', while Take That slip to five with former chart-topper 'Greatest Day'. Aled Jones has claimed that John Sergeant didn't have a "cat in hell's" chance of winning Strictly Come Dancing. The Welsh singer, who took part in the show in 2004, said Sergeant should not have pulled out of the series because the public would have voted him out eventually. "I think it's entertainment at the end of the day and some of the comments about him were pretty brutal," Jones told Digital Spy. "But every year there has been some slightly dud dancer who has stayed in longer than they should. "That's just part of (more) »

Aled Jones has revealed that he wants to end X Factor's monopoly on Christmas number ones. The Welsh singer said he is hoping to finish the show's run of three consecutive festive chart toppers with his charity single 'Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth'. The track, which features fellow Radio 2 DJ Terry Wogan, will raise funds for Children In Need. "Chris Evans heard it and proclaimed to the nation that it was his ambition to make it the Christmas number one as the antidote to X Factor," Jones told Digital Spy. "I think the words he used were, let X Factor be number one for 51 weeks of the year, but for just this one, let's have something Christmassy (more) »

Aled Jones has described recording 'Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth' with Terry Wogan as a "surreal" experience. The Children In Need charity single, which was released on Monday, is competing for the Christmas number one spot. "It's mental!" Jones told Digital Spy. "It didn't come about through me and it wasn't my idea! "One of Terry Wogan’s people came up with the idea of people at Radio 2 recording an album for Children In Need. "Then they asked me, 'Have you ever seen Bing Crosby and David Bowie's duet - what are you doing the week after next?' I said 'Why?' and (more) »

Sir Terry Wogan and Aled Jones are to release a Christmas single to raise money for BBC Children In Need. The duo have covered the Bing Crosby and David Bowie classic 'Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth' in support of the charity. After enthusiastic support from fellow Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans, several record companies showed an interest and the track is set for release on December 8. "It was a fantastically surreal experience recording at Abbey Road Studios with Sir Terry Wogan and, with tremendous support from the Chris Evans Show, the song is gaining momentum daily," Jones said in a statement. "I don't know if this wave of support will take us all (more) »

Comedian Rory Bremner is the favourite to succeed Des O'Connor as host of Countdown, according to reports. It has also been claimed that Carol Vorderman's future on the show is in doubt - despite bookies giving odds of 8-1 on the long-time co-host taking over the main presenter role. Other possibilities are said to include chorister-turned-presenter Aled Jones, Gyles Brandreth and Michael Aspel. The producers of Countdown (more) »
