Bradley Cooper Harvests 'Dark Fields'

8 November 2009 11:33 PM, PST | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

He might have missed out on The Green Lantern, but Bradley Cooper has been able to turn The Hangover into a pretty good assortment of upcoming roles. The A-Team is probably the one on everyone's mind, but there's also Matt Helm, which is supposed to be a new spy franchise. But based on how "well" The Vampire's Assistant did, we'll wait until there are some more concrete results before talking sequels.

Cooper has also just picked up a role that Shia Labeouf had agreed to several months ago, signing on to Illusionist director Neil Burger's Dark Fields. It's based on Alan Glynn's 2001 novel, and this one sounds unusual, with Cooper playing Eddie, a struggling writer who takes a pill called Mdt-48 to unleash every part of his brainpower. He uses it for evil, though, and abuses the drug to become more successful.

Review: Saturday Night Live - Taylor Swift

8 November 2009 6:40 AM, PST | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

(S35E05) I had to talk myself through being allowed to criticize Taylor Swift. Ever since Kanye West Vma outburst turned everyone in America into Swift's over-protective mom, she's been shown even more as an innocent country-inspired sweetheart. Every time she messed up in this episode, I felt the need to hold back any not-super-great remarks because, well, she's a teeny-bopper! Teeny-boppers are just kids goofin' around!

And then I have to pause and remind myself that she's almost 20-years-old, around the same age as Shia Labeouf and Ellen Page when they first hosted and Abby Elliiott when she initially joined the featured players. Screw it, there's no need to hold back. Swift is a musician, so we can't expect her acting skills to be super-good, but the fact I keep thinking she's only 14 shouldn't affect anything else.

Bradley Cooper Enters the "Dark Fields"

8 November 2009 1:16 AM, PST | Reel Empire | See recent Reel Empire news »

It was recently announced that Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, Alias, Midnight Meat Train) will be headlining Relativity Media and Rogue Picture's thriller titled "Dark Fields". Cooper has replaced "Transformers" star Shia Labeouf according to reports. The movie is based on a book of the same name by author Alan Glynn. Neil Burger will be directing the picture from a script written by Leslie Dixon (The Thomas Crown Affair). The premise is rather strange and I should be surprised that Bradley Cooper would headline a flick like this after moving to A-list status after the unexpected sucess of "The Hangover". Then again, he did star in "Midnight Meat Train" thus anything's possible. Read on to see what the movie is about.

Bradley Cooper Gains Superpowers In 'Dark Fields'

6 November 2009 7:33 AM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

The future Faceman may have lost the chance to fly as the Emerald Knight, but DC isn't the only place you can gain superpowers. You can also score them from top secret pharmaceuticals! (Don't try this at home, kids.) According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bradley Cooper is set to star in Dark Fields, a thriller directed by Neil Burger and based on the book by Alan Glynn.

Cooper will play a writer down on his luck who manages to get his poor paws on a secret drug that promises to make one smarter. He doesn't go ask Alice before popping them, and finds that it's a wonder drug. He enjoys writing success, wealth and women until the side effects kick in. They're long lasting, potentially lethal, and have the extra kick of making time appear as a stop-motion movie. As if that doesn't suck enough, mysterious and unpleasant men begin pursuing him. »

Bradley Cooper Replacing Shia Labeouf in Dark Fields Adaptation

6 November 2009 7:28 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Actor Bradley Cooper has been cast as the lead in director Neil Burger's (The Illusionist) latest thriller, Dark Fields, replacing Shia Labeouf, who was originally up for the role. Cooper will play a struggling writer who experiments with Mdt-48, a drug that helps him tap into his brain's full potential, making him smarter and more charismatic. However, it also has some negative side-effects, such as headaches, blackouts, and violence. After his supply of the drug runs low, he goes in search of more only to discover its origins are deadlier than he could imagine.

Described as being in the same vein as The Game and Fight Club, the Dark Fields screenplay was adapted from Alan Glynn's book of the same name by Leslie Dixon (The Heartbreak Kid). Dixon, Scott Kroopf, and Relativity Media's Ryan Kavanaugh are producing, with Relativity's Tucker Tooley acting as executive producer.

Bradley Cooper Replaces Shia In Dark Fields

6 November 2009 7:12 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Even before he bailed on D.J. Caruso and his plans to make a Y: The Last Man movie, Shia Labeouf was being cagey about his participation in Dark Fields, director Neil Burger's sci-fi project about a drug that can make you smart. Back in 2008 Burger told us he had been planning to shoot that winter but that they'd already hit delays thanks to Labeouf's broken hand. Now they've done the only smart thing and ditched him entirely. Bizarrely, though, they've decided to replace him with Bradley Cooper, who is in no way at all like Labeouf as a screen presence. Still, he's a big name, and big names bring in money. Cooper will play Eddie, a New York writer who received a so-called smart drug and finds himself in a whole world of trouble he couldn't imagine. Burger said in the press release, .I am really delighted that all »

Bradley Cooper Replaces Shia Labeouf in Dark Fields

5 November 2009 11:19 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

The Hangover star Bradley Cooper is now set to replace Shia Labeouf in Neil Burger's (The Illusionist) upcoming thriller, Dark Fields. The film is an adaptation of the Alan Glynn book of the same name, and will feature a script by eclectic screenwriter, Leslie Dixon (The Thomas Crowne Affair, Mrs. Doubtfire, Hairspray). The film is among many projects Cooper has signed on for post-Hangover (which is strange, because I still know the guy best as Sydney Bristow's best friend on Alias). Cooper will play a struggling writer who takes a top-secret pharmaceutical drug that makes him smarter. He finds success, but also comes to learn there are consequences, such as the phenomenon "trip-switching" which makes him perceive time moving similar to stop-motion. The official book description follows: Imagine a drug that makes your brain function with perfect efficiency, tapping into your most fundamental resources of intelligence and drive, releasing »

Bradley Cooper Runs Through Dark Fields

5 November 2009 10:10 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

I would exactly call Bradley Cooper and Shia Labeouf interchangeable but that’s what has happened.  Back in April of 2008, Labeouf came on board to star in Neil Burger’s (”The Illusionist”) mystery-thriller, “Dark Fields”.  Then Labeouf realized he could go out and play with anyone he wanted so he decided to exchange “Dark Fields” for Oliver Stone’s unnecessary sequel, “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”.  Over a year later, Bradley Cooper steps in to fill the void because he’s Labeouf’s long-lost twin.  Hit the jump for details.

Based on the book by Aron Glynn, Variety describes “Dark Fields” as a “what-if story about a designer drug that can make you rich and powerful. Eddie (Cooper) is a down-and-out New York writer until he possesses a pill that gives him the ability to access the full capacity of his brain. He soon realizes that his newfound intelligence and »

Bradley Cooper to Trip Out in the Dark Fields

Originally set to star Shia Labeouf as a down-on-his-luck loser who stumbles across a top-secret pharmaceutical drug that makes him super smart, the thriller “Dark Fields” has found a new leading man in “The Hangover’s” Bradley Cooper. The film, described as being in the vein of trippy David Fincher films “Fight Club” and “The Game”, will be directed by Neil Burger of “The Illusionist” fame, and will be based on the book by Alan Glynn, with big-screen adaptation courtesy of Leslie Dixon. Upon discovering the super drug, Cooper’s writer character experiences sudden financial and social success thanks to his new big brain, but soon discovers that the drug has lethal and lasting side effects, as they surely must. One of these side effects involve “trip-switching,” a phenomenon in which time moves with a stop-motion quality, which will no doubt be revealed onscreen in all manner of groovy visuals. »

New Projects For Hillcoat And Cave
