The alternate ending to Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 has made its way online and its just as mediocre as the original. We show you both so can compare and contrast.
The original ending [spoilers ahead, matey] showed Michael Myers (Tyler Mane) shot by police in an abandoned shed. After Myers is presumably dead, Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton) picks up Michael’s giant knife and starts to stab him repeatably. She exits the shed wearing Michael’s mask and winds in a mental hospital where she sees the same visions that her brother did throughout the film.In the alternate ending, Myers has his mask taken off and kills Dr. Samuel Loomis (Malcolm McDowell) outside the shed. Myers is lit-up by surrounding police. Laurie comes out, picks up the knife, screams and is also shot by police. She ends up in the asylum, same as the original. Halloween 2 will be released on »

Last month, I was lucky enough to be invited to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to cover the press junket for Roland Emmerich’s upcoming disaster flick 2012, which opens this Friday. Some people reading this may be thinking, “Lucky to go to Wyoming? Har har!” These people (in addition to laughing oddly) have never been to Jackson Hole, Wyoming because it is an absolutely gorgeous landscape. There are forests, grassland, and mountains all grouped together and it provides a feeling of complete tranquility to the area. It’s isolated but when you stop to think about how most of us are bombarded on a daily basis by technology and communications that isolation turns into an oasis.
I also got to see Roland Emmerich destroy the world real good and then talk about it with Emmerich and stars John Cusack, Amanda Peet, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Hit the jump for what they had to »

Just how far away can one get from the generic convenience of Starbucks, Subway, or OfficeMax at any given time? Turns out, not very. Stephen von Worley at Weather Sealed set out to chart the urban sprawl of America by mapping the 13,000+ locations of McDonald's across the lower 48 states. With the aid of Agg Data, he created a striking map of the Us, colored by distance to the nearest domestic Mickey D's. Gorgeous, but terrifying.
The fast food chain is wall-to-wall across the eastern Us and southern regions. Unsurprisingly, the ratio thins as we move west into Big Sky Country. As McWorley reports:
"For maximum McSparseness, we look westward, towards the deepest, darkest holes in our map. There, in a patch of rolling grassland, loosely hemmed in by Bismarck, Dickinson, Pierre, and the greater Rapid City-Spearfish-Sturgis metropolitan area, we find our answer. Between the tiny Dakotan hamlets of Meadow and »

The man behind the mask of director Rob Zombie's Halloween ghoul Michael Meyers has formed his own horror film production company.
Tyler Mane has launched Mane Entertainment, LLC and hopes to start shooting his first project, the horror thriller Penance Lane, in 2010.
The actor, who has also appeared in Troy and X-Men, insists his films will be super-low budget.
He tells WENN, "Right now you have to go smaller to get bigger. I think we, as filmmakers, need to be more responsible in this rough economic period, and mitigate the financial risk of making films.
"Indie films are taking a beating. I firmly believe that some of the best, most creative films are done on a smaller budget. If you're absolutely committed to getting a high quality project, it forces you to think outside the box and make the best use of your resources." »

According to Dread Central, Patrick Lussier will helm the upcoming Weinstein production of Halloween 3D.
The My Bloody Valentine 3D director will be joined by Jason X writer Todd Farmer, with production to begin in early November.
Earlier this month we reported that the Weinstein Company announced intentions to move on with another reboot of the Michael Myers franchise despite Halloween and Halloween 2 director Rob Zombie making it clear he will not return for a third entry.
A search began to find a director who could bring a fresh look to the series after Halloween 2’s opened with a strong $16 million domestically.
No word if Zombie’s story will remain intact for the third chapter, nor if Scout Taylor-Compton, Brad Dourif and Tyler Mane will be returning.
Halloween 3D will hit theaters in the summer of 2010.

On Wednesday September 9th, the Muvico Theaters over in Thousand Oaks, California held a special cast & crew screening of Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 in high quality 4k resolution. On hand for the event and to participate in a Q & A session after the movie were producers Malek Akkad & Andy Gould as well as cast members Tyler Mane (Michael Myers), Scout Taylor-Compton (Laurie Strode), Danielle Harris (Annie Brackett), Brea Grant (Mya Rockwell), Angela Trimbur (Harley David) and Jeffrey Daniel Phillips (Uncle Seymour Coffins, Howard). We were treated to a never before scene featurette with the Coffin's character titled "Uncle Seymour Hits Hollywood" and then the show got under way!
The Q & A consisted of general stories about the working experiences in the shooting locations of Georgia, stories about working with Rob Zombie as a director and fun little tid-bits like favorite moments or kills in the new flick. Tyler and Scout fought a bit over the mic, »

Last night, producers Malek Akkad and Andy Gould were joined by the lovely ladies of Halloween II and Tyler Mane for a special screening of the Rob Zombie film in Thousand Oaks. During a Q&A, Gould and Akkad was pressed for details on the recently announced Halloween 3D . The former repeated what was said already: Zombie would not be back for a third round. Akkad, however, jokingly reminded him that the director said he wouldn't return for a sequel after the first film. "There will most likely be a '3,'" Akkad told the audience. "We're trying to figure something out." I caught up to Akkad outside the theater moments later to ask about the weekend news break that positioned Patrick Lussier ( My Bloody Valentine 3D ) as the prime contender for the »

Short Version: Halloween II is the most ambitious and most accomplished movie I’ve seen from Rob Zombie. But it’s still not quite what I would call “a good film.”
Screen Rant Reviews Halloween II
Halloween II picks up literally where writer/director Rob Zombie’s 2007 Halloween reboot left off: Michael Myers shot down by his little sister Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton), while Laurie herself is left battered, bloody and half-crazed by her ordeal. The first third of the sequel pretty much revels in the repercussions of the first film, focusing on the survivors and the hell they go through physically, mentally and emotionally as their wounds (literal and metaphorical) are treated and the gore is wiped clean. This first third is also the only real nod to Rick Rosenthal’s 1981 sequel to John Carpenter’s original Halloween, which was almost entirely set in the hospital Laurie Strode is »

Adam Mast reviews Rob Zombie's sequel to his reboot.
Perhaps the worst thing about this terrible sequel to a pointless remake is that somewhere, buried deep within, writer/director Rob Zombie actually had some interesting ideas to explore in Halloween 2. Ideas that are so minimally explored that they're not even strong enough to be considered afterthoughts.
Halloween 2 picks up directly where Halloween ended, and finds a bloodied and frantic Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton) revealing to a police officer that she killed boogeyman Michael Myers (Tyler Mane). Cut to a year later. Laurie has moved on, but she's plagued by nightmarish visions of her monstrous assailant. Little does Strode know that Myers (whose body was never found-how convenient) is alive and well, and taking advise from his deceased mother (played by Mrs. Zombie). Where and why he's been laying low for a year isn't really explained, but then »

Trailers have already given away Tyler Mane.s money shot in Halloween II. During Michael Myers. latest rampage, he actually lifts a car and flips it over in pursuit of his next victim.
Tyler Mane is Michael
.Oh, I practiced on weekends lifting the car,. Mane joked. .It was a lot of fun. No, I had a little assistance, but it looks pretty cool, doesn.t it? I.m not going to tell you how we did it. Movie magic..
To be serious, it is hard work being a masked slasher. .It.s very physically exhausting. At the end of the day, if you have to kill somebody 10 times, especially the way we do it in this movie, it.s like in the nurse.s scene, I stick her a few times. The last stick, I just looked up and I go, .Rob, I.m done. »

The (almost) final weekend box office numbers are in, confirming our earlier report that David R. Ellis' The Final Destination had emerged as the champ in its battle against Rob Zombie's Halloween II. The numbers? $28.3 million (a whopping $9,079 per screen) for Tfd (no doubt benefiting from its 3D price bump) and $17.4 million (a much smaller average of $5,754) for H2.
It was the best opening yet for a Final Destination film, but Zombie was about $9 million below his 2007 version.
Adding insult to injury for H2, another Michael Myers stole a bit of its thunder. Yes, Inglourious Basterds, in which the Austin Powers star has a cameo, came in at No. 2, pushing Tyler Mane's Myers down to third place. But, as we also learned a bit earlier today, there's no need to shed any tears for The Shape since a 3D third chapter has already been greenlit for summer, 2010. Sigh. »

Wow. That was fast and... obvious. The big winner this weekend at the box office wasn't Rob Zombie's sequel Halloween II, but rather The Final Destination 3D. So, fresh from that loss, Bob Weinstein from The Weinstein Company announced via the La Times today that Halloween 3D is in development.
From the article: "Weinstein said Rob Zombie, who directed "Halloween II" and 2007's reboot of the 31-year-old horror series, won't return for "Halloween 3-D." He said the studio is in negotiations with a new director, whom he declined to name, who has experience in horror and has a "different take" on the franchise."
Well... we've never seen a Halloween flick in 3D. And it'll be nice to see a "new take" on Michael Myers after these last 2 flicks.
With a "new take" on the horizon, no word on if Scout Taylor-Compton or Tyler Mane would be returning to reprise »

Earlier this week, Icons Of Fright was invited to join in on a series of roundtable interviews for Halloween 2. (Now playing in theaters!) We've decided to pair up the interviews in batches and offer them to you in their entirety. ('Tis the Icons way!) Beware of major spoilers! We've done our best to mark them before you get to them, that way you can come back after you've seen the movie. Keep in mind that several journalists are asking questions here, so Icons is credited when it's us asking. This edition features the writer/director himself, Rob Zombie! Enjoy!
What’s the fun in horror movies?
That’s funny, that was the last question they just asked me in the other room. I didn’t really have a good answer. For me, it’s just movies period. Not necessarily horror movies. I just like dark, violet material. »
