A report that Beyoncé was in talks to play Wonder Woman has proved to be false. The Obsessed actress was alleged to have said during a press conference that she had multiple movie projects currently in the works, including Wonder Woman. The 28-year-old was quoted as saying that she was to meet with the writers of GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Max Payne director John Moore in forthcoming months to discuss her participation (more) »

Congratulations to those websites that didn't mindlessly repeat the blatant nonsense that Beyonce was to be Wonder Woman.
You didn't need the superheroine's golden lasso of truth to realise the story was fiction.
Beyonce had previously expressed an interest in the role and a contributor to the site Comic Book Movie yesterday posted a bogus report claiming there had been a press conference at which the singer listed Wonder Woman among her upcoming movie projects. It said the film would start production in mid-2010 for release in late 2011.
The hoax article said the writers were Stuart Beattie and David Elliott, who penned G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, and the director would be John Moore, who helmed Max Payne.
The writer has since admitted he 'made the story up to impress his girlfriend' and has been banned from the site. Thankfully, most decent websites had the brains to realise the »

Jessica Biel and Jennifer Love Hewitt have previously expressed interest in starring in a "Wonder Woman" film, but according to ComicBookMovie, the role may have already gone to Beyonce. During a press junket, the singer/actress revealed that she will be meeting with "GI Joe" writers Stuart Beatti and David Elliot, and director John Moore (Max Payne) in a couple of months and that things will get going by mid-2010 for a late 2011 release. This isn't the first time we're hearing of Beyonce being considered for "Wonder Woman." Back in November of last year, she said: "I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It's time for that, right?" Somewhere Kanye West is celebrating Warner Bros' choice to go with Beyonce. Click »

Okay, so here's a bolt from the blue -- or a a lassooooooo from the hip. It seems that Beyonce is now in talks to become the new Wonder Women in a new movie, based on the DC comic book.
The writers of GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra and the director of Max Payne, John Moore, are behind the movie, and Beyonce is said to be meeting up next week to discuss the part.
Beyonce told a press conference that being cast as the character "would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing", adding that "it would be a dream come true" to land the part.
The singer/ actress has apparently already met with Warner Brothers and DC bosses, according to sources. The film could possibly even begin production in mid-2010 for a late 2011 release. »

A few months back, Beyoncé Knowles interjected herself into the superhero discussion, admitting she'd be up for playing Wonder Woman. Actually, she went so far as to say it would be a "bold" move to cast a black Wonder Woman, and there's some legitimacy to that, although I think the character shouldn't be a lilywhite chick, anyway, just because of the connection to Amazons.
Still, it was a little blip, no different from someone saying they'd like to work with Martin Scorsese down the line or something. But now Beyoncé apparently likes the idea so much she's putting a ring on it. Comic Book Movie reports that the singer and actress told reporters at a press conference that she's meeting with the writers of GI Joe and Max Payne director John Moore in the coming months to see how they can completely ruin this project. I'm sorry...that's not exactly what she said, »

Female-driven action movie franchises are not, as they say, growing on trees in Hollywood. You can literally count them on one hand: Alien, Lara Croft, Terminator (at least until they became about Sarah Connor's whelp), Resident Evil. Conventional wisdom states that men won't go see action flicks driven by female characters and women want movies in which either the newest iteration of Meg Ryan pads around in slippers or Robert Pattinson sweeps their proxy off her feet. Which is all patently bollocks, and which makes the recent Queen & Country news -- that Fox has hired writer Ryan Condal to adapt the blistering comics series described somewhat simply as "a female version of The Bourne Identity" -- so encouraging. Queen & Country, if you don't know, is a comic book series written by Greg Rucka (who also wrote the Antarctic potboiler Whiteout, the adaptation of which is hitting theaters on Sept. 11) which »

So now that a lot of people have had a chance to check out The Hangover over the past week or so, I wanted to bring up something that I'm surprised more people haven't been talking about: its rating. The discussion will focus on something specific from the end of the film, so I suppose it could be considered a minor spoiler if you haven't seen the movie yet. Go ahead and skip the next few sentences if you want to avoid knowing what happens during the end credits. Basically, there is a montage of various raunchy photographs shown depicting their wild night in Vegas, including one with Zach Galifianakis receiving oral sex from a middle-aged woman where his penis is fully visible. Granted, the penis itself was probably not real, but it was certainly shocking -- and hilarious. Now, this isn't the first time we've seen full-frontal male nudity in a comedy. »

John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, Max Payne, The Omen) is set to direct and produce along side Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers) a new thriller 'Kidnap'. From a script penned by 'Jackass' cinematographer Knate Gwaltney, the story centers on a woman whose son is kidnapped at a local mall and embarks on a chase to save him. Fox Searchlight has reportedly bought the script but no start date or cast has yet been announced. »

Our favorite indie studio, Fox Searchlight, is teaming up with big time Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura for a thriller titled Kidnap. Written by "Jackass" regular Knate Gwaltney, Kidnap is centers on a woman whose son is kidnapped at a local mall and embarks on a chase to save him, with a similar vibe to Taken (the big success story that everyone is trying to mimic in Hollywood these days). Those familiar with the script say it also bears similarities to Breakdown, Paramount's 1997 thriller starring Kurt Russell about a man who must find his wife when she goes missing after their car breaks down in the desert. Di Bonaventura has lined up John Moore, who last directed Max Payne, to helm Kidnap. This seems like a big production with a big concept that's being developed at a very small studio, and I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Usually »

Mark Wahlberg hit a high note with The Departed in 2006, but since then it has been Shooter, We Own the Night, The Happening and Max Payne. Not an impressive line-up if you ask me. Of course he still has the potentially good The Lovely Bones later this year directed by Peter Jackson and he is also attached to Darren Aronofsky's The Fighter, but the chances of that being Aronofsky's next feature are looking slim. So, when word comes down Wahlberg is set to star in what sounds like a second rate kidnap thriller you begin to think his best days are already behind him. The film is Prisoners and it was written by first-time scribe Aaron Guzikowski. The story centers on a Boston man who turns vigilante after his daughter and her best friend are kidnapped. No director is attached, but perhaps they can find John Moore and turn »

Blu-Ray Rating: 1.5/5.0 Chicago – It can be so easy to waste multiple hours, even days with great video games, and yet it is sometimes unbearable to sit through 90 minutes of the cinematic adaptation of the same concept. Such is the case with the abysmal “Max Payne,” yet another in a long line of video-game-to-screen disasters that continue to prove how little Hollywood thinks of gamers.
If you have two hours to kill, would you rather spend it playing “Doom,” “Hitman,” or “Resident Evil,” or would you rather watch the movie versions? “Max Payne” doesn’t break the pattern.

That pattern is one of low expectations for viewers. What do these movies have in common? Ridiculously lazy scripts. They are clearly produced and written by people who assume that their audience is all 13 year-old boys. »
