tMF Talkback: Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt - Two awesome actors in similar mode?

5 October 2009 9:05 PM, PDT | The Movie Fanatic | See recent The Movie Fanatic news »

If you're going to ask me which movie of Leonardo DiCaprio I remember the most, I'd say - 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape', and I'll have to add that even though Johnny Depp headlines the flick, both him and Leo stood out with their heartfelt performances- with DiCaprio earning an Oscar nom for his role. While I am inclined to say that Leo's role appears to be the more challenging, the acclaim he received stems from the fact that he really put himself into Arnie and he became that character.

Review: Sorority Row

11 September 2009 5:20 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Another in the seemingly endless line of horror remakes, Sorority Row has the distinction of being based on one of the most forgettable of the 1980s slasher ripoffs, The House on Sorority Row (1983), which even the preeminent drive-in movie critic Joe Bob Briggs called "average." That basically means the new film has the freedom to start from scratch, with no real fan club to upset. But the new film also owes a good deal to I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), with the killer inexplicably waiting eight months for her/his revenge after the initial horrible deed.

What happens is this: some sorority sisters decide to play a prank on a cheating boyfriend (Matt O'Leary). One sister gives him some "roofies," which he slips to his ex-girlfriend Megan (Audrina Patridge). He proceeds to make out with the near-comatose girl until she throws up and passes out. The panicked boy and five sorority sisters, »

Yet More 'Mother's Day' Casting...

3 September 2009 12:53 PM, PDT | bloody-disgusting.com | See recent Bloody-Disgusting.com news »

How many people are in this movie anyway? Even without reading a synopsis, the sheer number of actors being hired (with more to come!) should tell you that Darren Bousman's "remake" of Mother's Day is a completely different beast, as that film only had like six people in it. Well now you can add another name to the list: Bousman just announced via his Twitter page that Aj Cook (pictured inside) has joined the cast as well. You might remember her as the heroine from Final Destination 2. She joins previously announced Rebecca DeMornay, Lyriq Bent, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Jaime King, Matt O'Leary, Shawn Ashmore... and I think a dozen others. But hey, more characters = more kills, right? Sweet. »

Rebecca De Mornay Is The Mother In Mother's Day!

Actress Rebecca De Mornay will take on the lead role in Darren Lynn Bousman's remake of Mother's Day says The Hollywood Reporter. "Every time you look at (Rebecca), she is on fire, and to take her to this level, which is like her role in 'Hand That Rocks the Cradle' times a thousand, is exciting," Bousman said. "She is not some Freddy Krueger or Jason, so it was important for me to get a real actress."

Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Patrick Flueger (Kill Theory) has also recently joined the cast. Also on board, True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll, Briana Evigan (S. Darko, Sorority Row), Alexa Vega, Jaime King (My Bloody Valentine 3D, The Tripper), Shawn Ashmore (Frozen), Matt O'Leary (Sorority Row) & Tony Nappo. Darren Lynn Bousman (helmer of the Saw sequels and Repo! The Genetic Opera) directs from a script by Scott Milam. Mother's Day is based on »
