“The Back-up Plan” plot: The film centers on Zoe (Lopez), a single professional who’s biological clock is ticking. She hasn’t found Mr. Right, but is ready to start a family so she goes to extreme measures to begin the process. First, she asks one her closest male friends to “donate” to her cause but he declines, which leads her to the next logical step, the sperm bank. After she’s implanted and pregnant she accidentally stumbles upon the man of her dreams, Stan (O’Loughlin).
Unaware of her condition, Stan begins to date Zoe and eventually falls in love with her. As time progresses and her pregnancy symptoms continue to get worse, Zoe spills the beans about her baby and Stan is understandably shocked. »

It's hard to believe that Broken Lizard — the comedy troupe responsible for "Super Troopers," "Club Dread" and "Beerfest" — hasn't released a movie since 2006. Luckily, that all changes today with "The Slammin' Salmon," the newest comedy from Broken Lizard regulars Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske.
I haven't seen the film yet, but considering my affinity for Broken Lizard's previous efforts, I'm sure I'll be delighted by this latest film. Broken Lizard tends to deliver movies that require multiple viewings — the jokes get funnier and funnier every time you start the film over.
From the "Super Troopers" opening to the various death scenes in "Club Dread," the highlights of Broken Lizard's career are well documented — but let's not forget some of the more underrated moments from this ragtag group of comedians. Here are some of my favorite less appreciated Broken Lizard scenes.

There are off nights, and then there is last night's episode of Community. After being spoiled by two consecutive weeks of dynamite comedy, I sat there wondering whether I was watching the same show. Yesterday's episode was the equivalent of a bologna sandwich that had been left outside in the scorching sun for two-and-a-half weeks and then still deemed suitable to consume. Even Homer Simpson would have turned it down. I have no doubt that Community will rebound from this, and that last night's show, "Home Economics," will be remembered as merely a peculiar gaffe in an otherwise consistently engaging series. »

While reading your comments from last week, I noticed that some of you were under the impression that I didn't like Community. Far from the truth. The show offers 30 minutes of satisfying entertainment (22 minutes without commercials, as Abed would surely point out). It's just that Community hasn't taken it to the next level. It sits there like a puppy desperately wanting to be loved, but it hasn't earned its gold star, unlike, say, ABC's delectable Modern Family. Last night's episode, "Social Psychology," continued Community's trend, which, let me reiterate, consists of providing a number of moderately funny moments, »

Chicago – Christine Jeffs’ “Sunshine Cleaning” has its ups and downs, its pros and cons, but it’s worth a look, now on Blu-Ray and DVD, for one of the most delightful, multi-faceted performances of the year from one of the better actresses of her generation. What Amy Adams delivers in “Sunshine Cleaning” is her most interesting turn since “Junebug”. Even with an average Blu-Ray release, Adams makes “Cleaning” worth at least a rental on its own.
Blu-Ray Rating: 3.5/5.0 Despite what Adams (and, to a lesser extent, Emily Blunt) bring to “Sunshine Cleaning,” it’s pretty undeniable that the screenplay could have used another polish. The film fluctuates wildly in tone and overall quality and feels at times like it was practically created by a computer designed to make a “Sundance comedy”.
The “Sundance comedy” is practically a genre of its own at this point - odd characters, quirky dialogue, an unexpected plot twist, »

Imagi Studios has debuted a new teaser trailer for "Gatchaman" at the 2009 Anime Expo which took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center over the weekend, and a bootleg version of the teaser has been made available for viewing pleasure. Providing more sneak peek to the anime adaptation if compared to the previous clip, the teaser explains that the world is in chaos because of one alien evil, Galactor.

Together with a group of teenagers recruited to form a bird theme superhero ninja team, he fights the menace of the technologically advanced alien and denies him of his attempt to take control of the Earth's natural resources.
Based on the successful Japanese anime franchise created by Tatsuo Yoshida in 1972, "Gatchaman" is directed by "Tmnt" helmer Kevin Munroe. It is still unclear who will »

Chicago – How desperate are you for laughs? If you rent all the straight-to-video comedies that come down the line, then “Fired Up” may have enough lines that hit the funny bone to warrant a rental. It’s certainly not as unbearable as some theatrical junk like “Disaster Movie” or “White Chicks,” but that’s doesn’t mean it’s worth your time.
Blu-Ray Rating: 2.0/5.0 Eric Christian Olsen and Nicholas D’Agosto star as a pair of horny football players at Gerald Ford High School who decide to ditch football camp so they can spend some time hitting on the chicks at cheerleading camp. It’s so simple a plot that it’s kind of remarkable someone didn’t come up with it earlier.
Fired Up was released on Blu-Ray on June 9th, 2009.
