Fear the Paperboy(!) on Rosewood Lane

27 November 2009 12:42 PM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Looks like before the Creeper comes back to sniff out some new victims, Victor Salva will be taking us down a trip to Rosewood Lane where horror hides in the most unlikely of places.

Shock Till You Drop scored the first details and even a teaser poster.

Director Salva begins shooting Rosewood Lane early next year with Jeepers Creepers alumni Gina Phillips and Ray Wise set to star.

Phillips stars as a radio therapist who returns home only to find the entire town terrorized and living in fear of the local paperboy, who apparently exhibits some murderous tendencies.

Fall Frights: Jeepers Creepers (Film Review)

20 October 2009 12:22 AM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

In the spirit of Halloween '09, we're breaking out reviews (some new, some old) of some Fall Frights you may want to work into your monthly viewing.

Originally published, 08/30/2001

Within the horror genre exists a subgenre that could be called "nightmare movies," films that focus on the relentless pursuit of one or two characters by a malevolent force, with no digressions into significant subplots. Like a real bad dream, such a film need not always proceed with complete "realism"--and therein lies a potential stumbling block. There's a precarious balance that must be maintained between nightmare logic and no logic, and Jeepers Creepers, though it maintains the right atmosphere to the end, winds up tipping over onto the wrong side.

Not long into the picture, college-age siblings Trish (Gina Philips) and Darry (Justin Long) are staring down a pipe leading deep into the ground outside a creepy, abandoned church. They've »

Here's a sequel out of left field: Jeepers Creepers 3. Series director Victor Salva tells Dread Central that the plan is to come back with a third movie, some six years after Jeepers Creepers 2, which didn't exactly set anyone's world on fire but it was profitable.

"The financing is just coming together, so perhaps we will be in pre-production shortly," Alva says. "We have been saying this for a year now, but that's really about all I can with any certainty." »

Salva Talks 'Jeepers Threepers'

11 September 2009 9:00 PM, PDT | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

It’s the horror sequel fans haven’t necessarily been clamoring for, but could still be on the way: Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral.

Recently, the site Dread Central interviewed director Victor Salva, who helmed the first two Jeepers Creepers movies, about his entry in the upcoming horror anthology book "Dark Delicacies III: Haunted". They just couldn’t help asking Salva about his movie-making career as well, especially Jeepers Creepers 3, which was first announced way back in March 2006 (with the subtitle, The Creeper Walks Among Us).

"The financing is just coming together, so perhaps we will be in preproduction shortly," Salva said. "We have been saying this for a year now, but that’s really about all I can with any certainty."

If Jeepers Threepers (as Salva said he likes to call it) ever gets made, the director plans to set it 23 years after the events of the first two movies, »

Back in February of last year, director Victor Salva revealed that he has signed on to write and direct the third "Jeepers Creepers" film, tentatively called "Jeepers Creepers 3: The Creeper Walks Among Us." DreadCentral has now caught up with Salva to get an update on the project. "The financing is just coming together, so perhaps we will be in pre-production shortly," he told the site. "We have been saying this for a year now, but that's really about all I can with any certainty." Salva went on to say that the new film will be called "Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral, and confirmed that Jonathan Breck, the Creeper, will once again return to reprise his role. "Though we have decided, after much fan feedback, to give him his truck back for the new film," he said. Gina Phillips, the actress from the first film, will also return for "Jeepers Creepers 3." Salva talks Jeepers 3

10 September 2009 10:12 PM, PDT | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

Jeepers Creepers is one of the few spooky movies I watched entirely and liked, plus Justin Long is always a hoot; haven't seen the second but it's got Ray Wise so it can't be all bad, right? And as far as Hollywood is concerned, those movies cost very little and profited to more than double their budgets. So why not a third? Talking to the folks of Dread Central during a book tour, director Victor Salva confirmed he's all but ready to get going on »

Jeepers Creepers Threequel Slowly Moves Along

10 September 2009 | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

You would think that Jeepers Creepers III: Cathedral would find an easier time pulling together financing. Combined, the first two entries made over $120 million worldwide, yet creator Victor Salva is having a hell of a time getting the third film to fly. Salva tells Dread Central that financing is "just" coming together - something that's been reiterated over the last year. And he says Jonathan Breck and Gina Phillips are still in line to return (the former to reprise his role as the Creeper and the latter to play Trisha Jenner again, now with a son). We have decided that the third film should, like one and two, be different from each other in look and locale," Salva says. "After all, the highway in question 'runs the length of the state.' "The financing is just coming together, so perhaps we will be in preproduction shortly," Salva tells Dread exclusively. "We have been saying this for a year now, but that’s really about all I can with any certainty."

"Breck will of course don his wings once again as our favorite flying man-eater, though we have decided, after much fan feedback, to give him his truck back for the new film. My Book Shelf: 'Being Hal Ashby'

You might think, given my lifelong love of movies and moviemaking, that reading biographies about filmmakers would be a big part of that.  But... not really.  It's sort of the opposite.  I've said before, in regards to guys like Woody Allen or Roman Polanski or Victor Salva or whoever, any filmmaker whose personal life was ever torrid or difficult or painful or even criminal, that I believe you have to separate the art from the artist.  I'm perfectly happy not knowing much about a filmmaker's early home life or how he treated his family or what his bad habits were, chemical »
