Monte Hellman On The Road To Nowhere

2 September 2009 11:55 PM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Now here’s a film that should be one to keep an eye on, for all sorts of wildly varying reasons: Monte Hellman, the director of the legendary road movie, Two-Lane Blacktop, hasn’t made a movie in over 20 years, since 1989’s Blind Terror (aka Silent Night, Deadly Night 3).But – and you should be able to see this coming – the 77 year-old is back back back after his Malickian sabbatical with Road To Nowhere, an indie flick described as a romantic thriller about a filmmaker who becomes enmeshed in a criminal conspiracy. That’s Reason For Interest #1. Reason For Interest #2 is the movie’s cast, for today Shannyn Sossamon and Dominique Swain, two members of the school of coulda-beens, signed on to join the already-cast Cliff De Young, John Diehl, Waylon Payne and Tygh Runyan. Sossamon and Swain were on the verge of big things a few years ago, so maybe »

Clifton Collins Jr. Discusses His Burgeoning Career

Clifton Collins Jr. talks Boondock Saints 2, Extract, directing music videos and much more

A few days ago, I mentioned on my Facebook page that I was extremely excited to be interviewing a favorite actor of mine, Clifton Collins Jr. I was also rather dismayed that there were many friendo's of mine out there who didn't know who he was, by name anyway. Some would recognize him when I mentioned he was the homosexual hitman in the critically-acclaimed film Traffic, or the crazy drug dealer in the equally-underrated The Rules Of Attraction (which is one of my favorite performances of his), some recognize him as the confused killer Perry Smith in Capote, a performance that some think is just as Oscar-worthy as Phillip Seymour Hoffman's Oscar-winning portrayal of Truman Capote. Oh yeah, and, of course, there were those who just recently saw him on the silver screen as Ayel, the »

Hugh Jackman Lands a Job in 'Ghostopolis'

4 May 2009 7:03 AM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

It looks like nothing can stop Hugh Jackman. Not cinematic piracy. Not disgruntled fans. As Eugene has pointed out, in spite of all the unhappiness and turmoil, X-Men Origins: Wolverine slipped in this weekend with a sweet box office take that even came out ahead of X2. But could Jackman manage it in the world of ghosts?

The Hollywood Reporter posts that Wolverine has signed on for a starring gig in Ghostopolis -- an upcoming graphic novel from Dough TenNapel. (The man has already sold Tommysaurus Rex to Universal, Creature Tech to New Regency, and Monster Zoo to Paramount, so it's no wonder this is getting a pre-shelf deal.) The book focuses on a man who works for the government's Supernatural Immigration Task Force. "His job is to send ghosts who have escaped into our world back to Ghostopolis." Somehow, a living boy gets shipped over to the ghostly world, »

Watch: Ashlee Simpson returns to television on 'CSI:ny'

7 March 2009 2:52 AM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Oh, cast of "Undiscovered," where have you gone? Yes, one of the worst films of 2005 featured the big screen acting debut of one Ashlee Simpson whose Top 40 popularity and some snazzy cinematography couldn't save the movie's lame script and uninspired direction.  Her co-stars have floundered as well, except for possibly Steven Strait who managed to get absolutely no career bump by starring in Roland Emmerich's "10,000 B.C.," but at least it almost made $100 million right?  And poor Shannyn Sossamon.  Online fans loved her last TV series, "Moonlight, but not enough to save it.  The overhyped promise after »

DVD Round Up, Jan. 27, 2009: ‘Moonlight,’ ‘College,’ ‘City of Ember’

27 January 2009 7:19 AM, PST | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – We apologize to the people behind these four titles but the star power is a little dim in this edition of HollywoodChicago.com’s DVD Round Up. When a canceled vampire series is arguably the biggest release in a four-pack of titles, it’s a weird edition of the Round Up. Prepare yourself.

Amusement,” “City of Ember,” “College,” and “Moonlight”. A straight-to-dvd horror movie, a TV series cancelled after one year, and two movies that barely opened in theaters and made a Combined $13 million in domestic gross. These titles are for specialized audiences but that’s why we love the Round Up. Enjoy.

Amusement,” “City of Ember,” and “Moonlight: The Complete Series” were released on January 20th, 2009. “College” was released on January 27th, 2009.
