Images from 'New Moon' star Jackson Rathbone's 'The Last Airbender' surface, will be a trilogy

14 July 2009 6:45 AM, PDT | Twilight Examiner | See recent Twilight Examiner news »

A lot of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' fans have made comments regarding the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan film The Last Airbender (starring The Twilight Saga: New Moon star Jackson Rathbone, Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel, Cliff Curtis, Nicola Peltz, Noah Ringer, Jessica Andres, Shaun Toub, Seychelle Gabriel, Aasif Mandvi, Keong Sim, and more). Most Avatar fans fear that Shyamalan isn't quite capturing the look of their beloved series, and they wonder how faithfully the director will execute the storyline as well. Particularly, these fans are not assuaged by the choice of castmembers. That said, many new photos from the film have made their way to the surface, and they might serve as a point of encouragement for the worried »

The Last Airbender: Six-year trilogy plan is unveiled

1 July 2009 6:00 AM, PDT | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

It's Been revealed that director M. Night Shyamalan is already working on the follow-up to next year's The Last Airbender, a live-action adaptation of the animated fantasy series.

The first film, starring 12-year-old Noah Ringer as lead character Aang and Slumdog Millionaire's Dev Patel as evil Prince Zuko, will hit screens on July 2, 2010.

In a world divided into four nations (Earth, Air, Fire and Water), Aang is the only person able to master all four elements and, with the help of two friends, he tries to stop Zuko and the Fire Nation's plan to enslave all the other elemental tribes.

Producer Frank Marshall has now spoken about how they are moving quickly to put together a trilogy.

He said the films would have to be written and shot separately, rather than back to back like the Lord of the Rings series, but they needed to proceed quickly.

Watch Teaser Trailer for "The Last Airbender" by M. Night Shyamalan

26 June 2009 12:53 PM, PDT | Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news »

I pretty much gave up on M. Night Shyamalan after his last two crappy films, "Lady in the Water" and "The Happening."

But I'm pleased to report that the teaser trailer for "The Last Airbender" is actually interesting. But then again, the trailer for "The Happening" was great too...until I saw the film.

We can at least hope that "Slumdog Millionaire's" Dev Patel will spread his magic to "The Last Airbender."

We have to wait until July 2 of next year before we can watch the film, so enjoy the teaser trailer for now.

The first stills from M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming "The Last Airbender" caused quite a debate among fans, and now the first teaser trailer has hit the Web. Check it out below!

Based Nickelodeon's animated TV series "Avatar: The Last Airbender," the film follows Aang (Noah Ringer), a young boy who heads out to stop the ruthless Firebenders from controlling the great nations.

I've never seen the series and obviously don't know what to expect, but this short teaser looks at least a bit promising as far as the film's look goes. I'm sure Shyamalan won't go for cheap CGI.

Dev Patel, Jackson Rathbone, Nicola Peltz, Shaun Toub, Jessica Andres and Aasif Mandvi co-star in the flick, which is set for release July 2, 2010. What do you guys think about this trailer" Share below. »

First Look At Key Characters In ‘The Last Airbender’

21 May 2009 8:40 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

One of the greatest cartoons ever, in my opinion, is Avatar: The Last Airbender. Last year, I watched all three seasons (called ‘books’ in their cool structure, named after the elements in the story) and while it took a few episodes to get into, it picked up fast and quickly became an incredible journey, a deep story and most of all, an entertaining series for all audiences.

Today, we finally have the first images of two main characters, Aang and Prince Zuko from the movie after the jump.

The show was critically acclaimed and a massive success for Nickelodeon. So, it was no surprise when they quickly went ahead and started to make a movie (or a trilogy of movies) based on the show. The project is headed by M. Night Shyamalan who desperately needs a new hit on his resume to counter his falling reputation from each of his »
