Taylor Swift 'top of list to play Supergirl'?

18 December 2009 12:15 PM, PST | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Singer Taylor Swift may have been walked all over by Kanye West at the Vma Awards but according to one piece of gossip, she is about to power up and kick some serious ass as the new Supergirl.

The 20-year-old, who makes her film debut in Valentine's Day next year, is reportedly the "hot favourite of movie bosses" to play the superhero.

According to Undercover, a source said: "Hollywood is short of female heroes and the time is right for a new Supergirl.

"A number of young stars are being mentioned for the title role in a Supergirl movie and possible TV spin-off and Taylor is top of that list. She has all the right elements to be a positive role model to young girls."

It all sounds like a rather suspect piece of showbiz gossip in a year that's also promised us Beyonce as Wonder Woman, Megan Fox as Catwoman, »

Taylor Swift to Star in Supergirl Movie?

17 December 2009 1:33 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

It's only an unsubstantiated rumor at this point, but Ireland On-Line is reporting that "a source" has revealed that pop country singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is being considered to play Supergirl in a new live-action movie supposedly in development.

A number of young stars are being mentioned for the title role in a Supergirl movie and possible TV spin-off and Taylor is top of that list. She has all the right elements to be a positive role model to young girls.

In the DC comic books, Supergirl's origin has changed many times, and she was even killed off at one point. As in earlier incarnations, the current comic book Supergirl is Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman and one of the last survivors of the doomed planet Krypton. Helen Slater played Kara Zor-El in the forgettable 1984 Supergirl movie, and Laura Vandervoort portrayed Supergirl on TV's Smallville.

V: Is the ABC Series Already Doomed to be Cancelled?

1 December 2009 6:37 PM, PST | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Though the television networks don't seem to notice, remakes of old series rarely meet with much success. While shows like Bionic Woman, Knight Rider, and Melrose Place bring name recognition, they rarely live up to expectations. Still, ABC moved ahead with their plans to revive V. Though it was initially successful, will it ultimately meet the same fate?

Like the original, the new V revolves around the arrival of aliens to the planet Earth. While the visitors profess that they've come in peace, their ulterior motives slowly become clear. The cast includes Elizabeth Mitchell, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Logan Huffman, Lourdes Benedicto, Laura Vandervoort, and Scott Wolf.

The new V started out strong with a 5.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 14.3 million total viewers. That was the highest rated debut of the 2009-10 season.

New TV Shows To Be Thankful for In 2009! ABC Brings Us 4 New Shows We Love But Fox’s Glee Takes Top Spot!

29 November 2009 5:34 PM, PST | FusedFilm | See recent FusedFilm news »

Well ABC seemed to be out in the lead for having the most shows we were thankful for in 2009 with 4 of their new shows making our list. In second place was the USA channel with 2, while Syfy, Fox, HBO and NBC all had 1 on the list as well. I was surprised that CBS didn’t make our list but with so many already good shows previous to 2009 they didn’t have to add a lot to their programming schedule. Glee got our top spot while Flashforward barely made the list.

1. Glee

Couldn’t think of any other show to go here than this one. A complete surprise this musical dramedy series from of all people, Ryan Murphy, the guy who brought us Nip/Tuck. This series is a massive 180 from his repetoire but thats okay because we love it. Everything from the weekly musical selections, to the talented group of »

V Interview: Laura Vandervoort on the Fall Finale

24 November 2009 7:48 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

As Lisa on V, Laura Vandervoort has more than just the character of Tyler mesmerized.

The actress often makes us wish we were being manipulated by a visiting race, if only to drool over this lingerie-clad beauty in our bedrooms.

In an interview with TV Guide, Vandervoort previews tonight's major episode - the final one of 2009 - along with what's to come when the series returns after the Winter Olympics...

On her character: "I feel like Lisa is being taken along for the ride by her mother. Maybe she really does think that we're here for peace, and she is truly falling for Tyler and enjoying being on Earth because she's still young. I do think she's there for good, but I [would] love if the writers suddenly make her turn on her own people or turn on the humans, being two-faced all along."

On Lisa and Tyler: "She really is developing feelings for him. »

Viewers Should Expect Huge Reveals In Every 'V'

17 November 2009 10:08 AM, PST | AirlockAlpha.com | See recent Airlock Alpha news »

They have come to Earth with the promise of peace, but if you've seen the original series then you'll be aware that the Visitors' intensions are slightly more hostile. Despite the knowledge of their real agenda on Earth, the characters of "V" remain aloof and morally ambiguous. And don.t expect that to change, as not even the cast know the true agenda of their characters. "Lisa, I hope she's good," actress Laura Vandervoort told Zap2It. "They haven.t told me and they like to keep it that way so that we don.t give anything away in our performances. If I knew then I could give it away somehow, unintentionally. So I'm not sure but I know which way I'd like her to go which is I'd like her to be a good person. And be there for peace always. But you know maybe I'm just gonna trick the audience. »

'V' Episode 1.02: 'There Is No Normal Anymore'

10 November 2009 7:11 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Episode Title: "There Is No Normal Anymore"

Written By: Scott Peters & Sam Egan

Synopsis: FBI Agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Father Jack Landry (Joel Gretsch) must decide whether or not to hide their knowledge of the Visitors' true intentions — a particularly difficult decision for Erica given the fact that she had to kill former partner Dale (Alan Tudyk), who was secretly a Visitor. Journalist Chad Decker (Scott Wolf) attempts to control the public perception of Visitor spokesperson Anna (Morena Baccarin), while secret Visitor Ryan Nichols (Morris Chestnut) tries to find a way to repair his damaged flesh.

Don't Trust Anyone: Tonight's episode reinforced the theme that everybody is suspect — after all, if you can't trust Alan Tudyk's face, then who can you trust? There are already some suspicious characters in my mind including Agent Malik (Rekha Sharma, one of the elite final five on "Battlestar Galactica") and Father »

Five preview clips from “V’s” Tuesday episode, 1.02, “There is No Normal Anymore”. Also, Chad the reporter realizes he just sold his soul to the devil, and more alluring V girl action with Laura Vandervoort and Morena Baccarin. Plus, alien wounds are yucky. »

V: Great Debut Ratings But Will They Last? Cancel or Keep It?

4 November 2009 7:09 PM, PST | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

The "visitors" are back -- with a vengeance. ABC's remake of V, the NBC mini-series and show of the same name, kicked off (and kicked butt) last night. The numbers look really good but, most importantly, will they last.

The current incarnation of V begins as spaceships appear in the skies over 29 international cities and a benevolent leader, Anna (Morena Baccarin), tells the people of Earth that they come in peace. Several humans doubt the aliens' sincerity and FBI agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) learns that the aliens have been among us for years, infiltrating governments and businesses. The series also stars Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Logan Huffman, Lourdes Benedicto, Laura Vandervoort, and Scott Wolf.

The new V pilot has gotten some mixed reviews but any negativity didn't seem to discourage TV viewers from giving the show a try. Last night, the premiere »
