Liam began training as an actor in 1991 with Geasog Theatre company in Ireland and toured with their production of Fedirico Garcia Lorca's 'The Butterfly's Evil Spell' which won 8 international theater awards, including best actor for Liam at the Cabinteely Youth International Drama Festival. He subsequently trained with The Gaiety School of Acting and The Galway Youth Theatre also in Ireland, and performed in their productions of 'Not the School Around the Corner', 'Diarmuid and Gráinne', and 'Heroes'.
In 1996 he starred as Joe Heaney in the award winning drama documentary, Joe Heaney: Sing the Dark Away for RTÉ Television (national TV broadcaster in Ireland). The film screened at numerous film festivals worldwide and co-starred Maureen O Sullivan (Tarzan, Hannah and Her Sisters), Pete Seeger, Liam Clancy and Ronnie Drew. In the same year Liam wrote, produced and starred in the short film Fortune(1996) which screened at film festivals world-wide and won a Best short film award at the 1998 Worldfest Houston international Film Festival. The short co- starred Derdriu Ring (Law and Order: Criminal Intent), Maire Stafford (Felica's Journey) and John Anthony Murphy (Angela's Ashes, Gangs of New York).
In 1999 Liam wrote, directed, produced and starred in the critically acclaimed independent feature film The Book That Wrote Itself (1999), which featured cameos from George Clooney, Kenneth Branagh, Chazz Palaminteri and Melanie Griffith amongst others. The film had it's world premiere at the 1999 Galway Film fleadh and its international premiere at the 1999 Vancouver international Film Festival. The film went on to screen to critical acclaim at a further 20 international film festivals in 15 countries and was released theatrically in 2000. Liam has also played roles in the BBC four-part drama series Family (1994/I) directed by Michael Winterbottom, the hit movie Circle of Friends (1995) directed by Pat O'Connor, the IFTA nominated tv series Cursai Ealaine (1995) for RTÉ Television and the acclaimed tv series RI RA (2001-2002) for TG4 (national TV broadcaster in Ireland). He has also directed and produced more than 20 documentaries and TV shows for RTÉ and TG4 and the Film Institute of Ireland.
Liam is currently in post-production on the film WC (2007) which he wrote, directed and produced. The film will be released in 2007 and features an ensemble cast which includes Adam Goodwin (The Tudors, Short Order), Julie Hale (Ash Wednesday, My Left Foot), Mary Murray (The Magadelene Sisters), Karl Shiels (Batman Begins, Get Rich or Die Trying), Sean McDonagh (The Closer you get), Tim Ruddy (Gods and Generals, Ballykissangel) and Daniel Wu amongst others.
Speaks fluent Gaelic.
(October 2006) Is in Dublin, Ireland working on the independent feature film W.C. which will be released in 2007.
