The ‘2012’ actress and her husband David Benioff already have a two-year-old daughter Frances Penn and will welcome the next addition to their family in the middle of next year.
Amanda – who married screenwriter David three years ago – has previously admitted motherhood was not what she expected.
She said: "One surprise of motherhood for me was how little control I have. I thought it would be an extended, blissful romance with me at the helm, cuddling this little creature to life. It's been bittersweet and humbling to let her lead, and to try not to be perfect myself."
Shortly after Frances’ birth, Amanda, 37, revealed David wanted two more children but she was happy to stick with just having just one more.
Amanda – who recently signed up to make a guest appearance on hit Us comedy ‘How I Met Your Mother’ - said: "He wants three but I’m old, I'm an old lady.

Rumor: Zombieland Writers to Take On Deadpool? Plus, Ryan Reynolds Dreams of Tarantino Directing

As much as I wanted to love Wolverine, I couldn't get past the horrible dialog, plot, and misuse of iconic Marvel characters. They couldn't even get Wolverine's claws right---and it's not like they haven't had several other films to perfect such a simple effect. Needless to say, my enthusiasm for the upcoming Deadpool film has been fairly tepid thus far. Now Chud is running an interesting rumor that, if true, could actually make me hopeful for a Deadpool film. Apparently, Fox may be looking to hire the writers of this summer's Zombieland, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, for the film.
The writing duo, who have worked together on television projects like The Joe Schmo Show and Invasion Iowa, are pretty much a perfect fit for the wise-cracking character. They're certainly a better pair than Wolverine's David Benioff (a legitimately good writer, having written both the novel and screenplay

Review: "Brothers"

The players: Director: Jim Sheridan, Writer: David Benioff, Cast: Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal, Natalie Portman, Sam Shepard
Facts of interest: Remake of Susanne Bier's "Brodre."
The plot: Brothers Sam and Tommy have a decent relationship until Tommy comforts Sam's wife after he goes missing in Afghanistan and is presumed dead for weeks.
Our thoughts: Jim Sheridan’s “Brothers” doesn’t feel as intense as Susanne Bier’s original film of the same title, but a handful of surprisingly solid acting performances give this remake a dramatic touch that’s hard to ignore. I wouldn’t count it among my favorite films of the year, but as a drama about a family struggling with loss and loneliness, “Brothers” works.

If there were ever a milieu made for Jim Sheridan, a military town amid the current war in Iraq is it. Throughout his prestigious career, in movies as different as In the Name of the Father and In America, the Irish filmmaker has specialized in portraits of families under siege and the male psychology pushed to the brink. In Brothers, the David Benioff scripted remake of the 2004 Susanne Bier film, the two elements blend with such natural precision it’s a wonder Sheridan hadn’t set out to chronicle a small sliver of the American home front before.
In a narrative rife with emotions both heightened and subtle, Sheridan and Benioff zero in on an everyday military family facing an all too common burden. Sam Cahill (Tobey Maguire) leaves his wife Grace (Natalie Portman) and his daughters behind when he’s sent to Iraq. His body disappears after a terrible helicopter crash, leading

Sometimes, in very rare instances, basic arithmetic does not apply. Sometimes 1 + 1 + 1 does not, in fact, = 3. Take Brothers, for instance, a drama that does everything it can to prop its success up on the efforts made by its parts. Nearly everyone involved, particularly those in front of the camera, are doing their part. It’s the summation, the glaze over everything that doesn’t seem to be gelling the way it should. It’s film about family. It’s a film called Brothers. However, there is very little in the way of connection between many of the characters. In the end, the entire film suffers for it.
In the film, Tobey Maguire plays Sam, a Marine who is about to ship off to Afghanistan for his fourth tour of duty. He leaves behind his loving wife, Grace, played by Natalie Portman, his two, precious daughters, played by Bailee Madison and Taylor Grace Geare,

Brothers Movie Review

Moviegoers are not interested in war films, yet three of the best movies of 2009 have the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan as their backdrop. The Hurt Locker, The Messenger, and Brothers are solid, somber, and timely films which likely won't find any success at the box office. But that's due to the timing of their releases and not due to the artistic merits of each of the three films.
Brothers is the Americanized remake of the 2004 Danish film, Brødre, co-written and directed by Susanne Bier (Things We Lost in the Fire). I'm not familiar with Bier's original film so I can't compare how writer David Benioff (The Kite Runner, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) has adapted Bier's work or how Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In America) stands up as director next to Bier. I can say this Brothers took me completely by surprise with its unflinching look at the affects of war on returning U.

Fun fact: Five years separate Susanne Bier’s Danish film Brødre and the English-language remake, yet the defining trauma of both melodramas remains the war in Afghanistan. (And should the Danish want to remake the remake again in a few years, the script likely won’t need a rewrite.) Scripted by 25th Hour writer David Benioff and helmed by In The Name Of The Father director Jim Sheridan, the new Brothers more or less transcribes Bier and Anders Thomas Jensen’s love triangle between a military professional, his wife, and his screw-up brother—a dynamic that shifts radically before

I hate that, because movies about the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have failed to catch the interest of audiences, I feel like I have to say, “Oh, don’t worry, Brothers isn’t really about what’s happening to our soldiers in the Middle East, and what’s happening to them once they come home.” Sure, it’s true that this is a movie primarily about family, and sure, it’s true the experiences in Afghanistan that change Tobey Maguire’s Marine and inadvertently alter the family dynamics back at home could just as easily have been the result of something other than war: it could have been a terrible crime that impacts everyone here, or a horrible accident.
But let’s not be disingenuous: Susanne Bier’s 2004 Danish film of the same name [Region 1] [Region 2], upon which this is based, sprang from the fact that Western soldiers have been deployed in the Middle East.

About ten years ago, three promising young actors were working to secure a place amongst the Hollywood A-list. Natalie Portman had finished her first major acting role, as Mathilda in Luc Bessons Leon. She would go on to make her major breakthrough in the Star Wars prequels. Tobey Maguire had small roles in respected films like The Cider House Rules and Wonder Boys, then also got his major break in a high budget franchise, winning the role of Spiderman. Jake Gyllenhaal came to public attention through his role in sleeper Indie hit Donnie Darko, then hit the big time through a combination of big budget popcorn in The Day After Tomorrow, and critically acclaimed drama in Brokeback Mountain. Next week in the Us, these three actors, firmly A-List, come together for Jim Sheridan’s brothers.

Natalie Portman in brilliant blue stole the spotlight last night at a screening of Brothers in NYC. One of her two leading men, Tobey Maguire, joined her on the red carpet along with his wife Jennifer Meyer, though Jake Gyllenhaal missed the event. Beware the cross-cultural remake. David Benioff is a gifted writer (The 25th Hour). Jim Sheridan is a gifted director (In America). Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman are gifted actors. So what went wrong on the road to Relativity and Lionsgate’s American adaptation of Danish writer-director Susanne Bier’s extraordinary 2004 movie Brothers? It’s the risk you take when you try to transplant something that was organic to one culture to another. The original Danish script (by Bier and frequent collaborator Anders Thomas Jensen) dug into the dynamics of two brothers. When the upbeat, upstanding family man, a career soldier (Ulrich Thomsen), is lost in a …
