Shooting the new apocalyptic film 2012 naturally had Amanda Peet thinking about the end of the world, but it’s something she says doesn’t concern her. “I couldn’t be more skeptical,” the 37-year-old actress tells Parade. “I think there’s a lot to be concerned about, but that’s the least of my worries.”
With that said, there were still long days on set to contend with, filming scenes that were far from uplifting. Daughter Frances ‘Frankie’ Pen, 2 ½, did a good job of keeping Amanda’s mood light, however.

Lionsgate has released a new trailer for the family drama Brothers, which is directed by six-time Oscar nominee Jim Sheridan (In America, In The Name of the Father), from a screenplay by David Benioff (The Kite Runner, 25th Hour), and stars Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal, Natalie Portman, Sam Shepard, Clifton Collins, Jr., Carey Mulligan, and Ethan Suplee. The film tells the story of a black-sheep younger brother who cares for the wife and children of a decorated Marine who goes missing overseas, "with consequences that will shake the foundation of the entire family." The list of names involved with this film is very impressive. The trailer has a really over-the-top, on-the-noise, voiceover, which gives the feel of a made-for-television movie, rather than an Awards hopeful. Watch the trailer embedded after the jump. Chicago – Hugh Jackman is an awfully likable guy. He oozes the kind of effortless photogenic charisma most movie stars would kill for. He’s also comfortable in his masculinity, and unafraid to expose his inner vulnerabilities and self-deprecation. But his considerable charms have been consistently wasted by the limited imaginations of Hollywood, which would rather objectify him as a muscular meathead. Most of his films have flopped primarily because the characters he was assigned to play were so one-note that Vin Diesel would’ve turned them down.
Blu-Ray Rating: 2.5/5.0
At last year’s Oscar ceremony, Jackman exuberantly threw himself into the night’s opening musical number while struggling to keep a straight face. That’s the guy viewers want to see onscreen, not the trembling, humorless sourpuss on display in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”
X-Men Origins: Wolverine was released on DVD and Blu-Ray on September 15th, 2009.

In the next couple of years, acclaimed Dublin-born director Jim Sheridan (“In the Name of the Father,” “In America”) is planning to tell gritty Irish-American stories about gangsters in Boston and New York. This coming holiday season, however, Sheridan will be releasing “Brothers,” a dramatic film about a love triangle which will surely get some attention when it comes time to hand out Oscar nominations. “Brothers” stars Natalie Portman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire. Portman plays a wife whose husband (Maguire) is presumed lost in Iraq. The soldier’s brother (Gyllenhaal) seeks to console the young widow, only to fall in love with the grieving woman. Then it turns out her husband is not dead after all and will soon be returning home. “Brothers” is Sheridan’s first film since the 2005 biopic of rapper 50 Cent, “Get Rich or Die Tryin’.” The screenplay for “Brothers” was written by David Benioff, whose »

Now that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is done (*sob*damn you, Fox!*sob*), former cast member Lena Headey is moving over to HBO's new series Game of Thrones. I love any shows and movies that focus on royal families, so I'm already sold on this one.
Turns out that this show is actually based on a series of books by author George R. R. Martin (does he really need two Rs in his name?) called "A Song of Fire and Ice". I have never heard of this series, which means that I will head over to Amazon and quickly purchase it. Four of the seven books of the series have been released, with the first one entitled "A Game of Thrones".
Apparently, the books are set in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, which had emerged from civil war about 15 years prior to the start of the book. The book »

Natalie Portman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire are set to star in the upcoming drama-war film that tests the foundation a family.
In "Brothers," Portman stars as Grace, wife to a decorated Marine officer, Sam (Maguire), who goes missing overseas and is presumed dead. While his wife and children grieve him, his younger brother Tommy (Gyllenhaal), the black sheep of the family, tries to fill in for the void Sam left.
However, just when Grace and Tommy become drawn together, Sam unexpectedly returns. It is learned that he was taken as a war prisoner. His experiences during his capture made him volatile and withdrawn. His return unearths issues that threaten to tear the whole family apart.
The Lionsgate drama is based on Susane Bier and Anders Thomas Jensen's 2004 film "Brodre." Jim Sheridan directed from a script written by David Benioff.

Only the other day, X-Men Origins: Wolverine star Hugh Jackman confirmed there would be a sequel and that it would be set in Japan.
The follow-up is obviously being fast-tracked as a writer for the project has now been announced.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Christopher McQuarrie has signed on to pen the screenplay.
Jackman is also producing along with Lauren Shuler Donner.
The movie's storyline will follow the early 1980s Chris Claremont/Frank Miller miniseries, which sees Wolverine learning the ways of the samurai. He battles a ninja clan called The Hand as he struggles with whether to follow his animal killer instincts or the samurai code of honor and respect.
The story was hinted at in one of the movie's post-credit scenes in which the character is sat in a bar in Japan.

The Usual Suspects/Valkyrie scribe Chris McQuarrie has signed up to write the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine. We'd get more excited by the news, but then the first film had an original screenplay by David Benioff (re-writing by Skip Woods and others) that ended up to be more than a little lacklustre. So we're going to wait and see on this one. Still, it'll feature solid base material in the Chris Claremont/Frank Miller miniseries which saw Logan head to Japan, battle ninjas and try to make peace with his animal side. And it's...

Very soon after X-Men Origins: Wolverine kicked off the summer blockbuster season with a massive $85 million opening, we heard that a sequel was already being prepared. Now this week Fox has officially started the ball rolling by hiring a writer for the project -- but it's not David Benioff nor Skip Woods, the duo who wrote the first Wolvie screenplay. Nope, this time around it's Bryan Singer's buddy Christopher McQuarrie, writer of The Usual Suspects and Valkyrie, and the writer/director of The Way of the Gun. The Hollywood Reporter [1] confirms that the movie will loosely follow the 1980s comic storyline from Chris Claremont and Frank Miller where Logan travels to Japan and fights ninjas. Jackman himself is acting as producer as he did on X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and apparently met with McQuarrie to discuss preliminary ideas. I didn't realize that McQuarrie had also contributed to the screenplay for »
