The Notable Films of 2010: Part Seven

6 hours ago | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Mother and Child

Opens: 2010

Cast: Naomi Watts, Annette Bening, Samuel L. Jackson, Kerry Washington

Director: Rodrigo Garcia

Summary: A tale of a mother and daughter, separated at birth, who struggle with the damage done by the most important person missing in their lives while a young African-Americn woman deals with an unwanted pregnancy and the adoption process.

Analysis: Scoring rave reviews in Toronto, the $7 million latest effort of Rodrigo Garcia ("Nine Lives," "Things You Can Tell Just By Looking At Her") once again shows off his skill at weaving multiple narratives together in clever and unexpected ways. At its heart it's an emotional family drama, but Garcia excels with his female characters which makes the involvement of Naomi Watts, Kerry Washington and especially Annette Benning thrilling.

The few criticisms levelled at the film were toward some pacing and credibility issues in the last act, but otherwise praised it for not »

First High-Resolution Stills of Amanda Seyfried-Starring Movie 'Chloe'

18 hours ago | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

Several pictures in high-resolution from Atom Egoyan-directed film "Chloe" have arrived. Obtained via FilmoFilia, the snaps feature the movie's three main cast Amanda Seyfried, Julianne Moore and Liam Neeson.

One of the stills captures Amanda's Chloe seducing Liam's David. There is also a photo of Julianne's Catherine being hugged by her husband David. The other pictures see either Chloe alone or her with Catherine.

A successful doctor, Catherine is happily married to music professor David. When she suspects that her husband is cheating on her, she hires an irresistible young woman, Chloe, to test David's fidelity and lay her suspicions and fears to rest.

Chloe's torrid tales of her encounters with David take Catherine on a journey of sexual and sensual re-discovery. But by opening the door to temptation, she puts her family in great danger. This movie is due for limited release in U.S. on March 19, 2010. Nina Dobrev, »

Wes Craven's '25/8' changes title

19 October 2009 10:59 PM, PDT | screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news »

Wes Craven has a new film coming out soon, and it was originally titled "25/8." According to ShockTillYouDrop, however, that title does no longer exist. The film is now called "My Soul to Take."

To tell you the truth, I preferred "25/8," but who cares anyway. Craven's last feature directorial effort was 2005's "Red Eye," and it's about time he returns to the big screen. I'm ready...

Anyway, he announced the title change via Twitter. According to IMDb, the film follows a serial killer returning to his hometown to stalk seven children who share the same birthday as the date he was allegedly put to rest.

"Soul" stars Max Thieriot, Denzel Whitaker, Zena Grey, Nick Lashaway and Frank Grillo. Recent Craven films also include "Cursed." He will also be working on the upcoming "Scream 4." »

Tiff Review: Chloe

17 September 2009 9:03 AM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

The name of the cinematic game is believing what happens on the big screen, and suspending belief when necessary. It's a particular and difficult game -- one that is, of course, pulled off with varying degrees of success. One person's perfectly natural action is another person's highly irregular one, and there's no set line for what will be stomached, accepted, and believed. In the case of Atom Egoyan's erotic thriller Chloe, Amanda Seyfried, Julianne Moore, Max Thieriot, and Liam Neeson toe the line of believability as they sail through the sticky waters of romantic discontent and mistrust.

Seyfried is Chloe, a young prostitute well-versed in the finer points of subterfuge -- embodying everything her clients dream. And Moore is Catherine, a successful gynaecologist -- the established professional, mother, and aging woman desperately wishing for the lust-filled attentions that her husband David (Neeson) used to heap on her. After he avoids her on his birthday, »

'Wild Things' Banners, 'The Ring 3D,' Megan Fox Slams Continue and More

Photo: Warner Bros. Warner Bros. sent over four new character posters for Where the Wild Things Are. You can check out the small versions above or click here to view the larger versions in the gallery. I'm sure most of you read the comments Megan Fox made about her Transformers director, Michael Bay, comparing him to Hitler. Well, some of Bay's crew members sent in a letter to the director's official site, which was reprinted, leading me to believe he has given the comments a thumbs up. Here's a snippet: We've had the tedious experience of working with the dumb-as-a-rock Megan Fox on both Transformers movies," the letter says early on. [Note: the grammar ansd phraseology are weak so I've cleaned up certain portions.] "We [work] in different departments, and can't give our names because sadly doing so in Hollywood could lead to being banished from future Paramount work. One of us touches Megan's panties, another has the often sh*tty job of pulling Ms. »

Behind-the-Scenes Photos from Craven's 25/8

5 August 2009 | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

It is now officially over a year since I stepped on stage with Wes Craven at Comic-Con 2008 to preview his latest directorial effort 25/8 , the first picture he has written and directed since New Nightmare . Where is the film? In the process of being fine-tuned, I hear. Since last summer, Craven has returned behind the camera for extra shots and has been through the test screening process. And it doesn't look like we'll be seeing the picture any time this year. The man's is being meticulous about this one. He has also been Twittering about the post-production process. Today, he posted a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the set. That's one below. The rest are here and feature star Max Thieriot. For more info, such as a plot synopsis, click here . »

Amanda Seyfried's Prostitute Movie Adds Another

3 March 2009 8:53 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

As a fairly successful child star, Max Thieriot has worked alongside a long list of his female counterparts, from Kristen Stewart to Abigail Breslin. Now he's joining another youngun, Amanda Seyfried, in a new movie, but the subject matter is entirely grown-up. Thieriot has been cast as the son of Julianne Moore and Liam Neeson in Chloe, a drama about a wife who hires a prostitute (Seyfried) to find out if her husband is cheating on her. THR doesn't say when the film is scheduled to get started, but rounding out the cast with Thieriot indicates that production may be getting close to starting. And it's hard to tell from this if this means a new, grown-up direction for Thieriot, but a movie about a prostitute sure is a far cry from Kit Kittredge: An American Girl. Given that Thieriot is 20, it's probably a good thing he's taking this next »
