B-d reader Joey M. pointed us over to New York stuntman Manny Siverio's MySpace page where he posted a spoilerific image from behind-the-scenes of Wes Craven's My Soul To Take (formerly 25/8) that features your first look at the killer. Those following Craven on Twitter were treated to updates leading up to the completion of the film, which Rogue will hopefully release in 2010. As legend has it, a notorious serial slayer will return to the sleepy community of Riverdale to finish off the seven children born on the night he purportedly died. But is the slayer really dead, or is he still at large? Or has the mysterious evil personality that once impelled his bloody spree entered the body of an unwary teen, who will now be compelled to do his evil bidding? Max Theirot, Denzel Whitaker, Shareeka Epps, Emily Meade star. »

Can the media alter the public's perception of an actor? I believe so - that's why we have the likes of Megan Fox hugging the headlines and getting the covers of men's magazines, while a lot of more talented young actresses could not even manage to get featured and have interviews. If you think about it, what has she done in the movies to deserve so much publicity and attention? - - -
- - - Some may argue, 'hey, don't blame her, she's just good at playing the Hollywood game, and she got a shrewd agent managing her career!'. That maybe so and yes, I agree when others say 'she'll not last another year - others will soon take over'. There are those who may say 'Agents and talent managers always take care of their wards - that's why stars have a public image and a private one'. »

When Wes Craven's latest fright flick arrives in theaters in 2010, it won't be called "25/8", a moniker it has held since the director began production. Instead, it is now entitled "My Soul To Take". Craven broke the news via his Twitter account this morning. ShockTillYouDrop.com says that while the title was once apropos for the film, the term "25/8" is no longer used in the story so it wouldn't really make sense to call it that. Craven adds "25/8" has always been a working title. Max Thierot, Denzel Whitaker and Shareeka Epps star in what is Craven's first film that he has written and directed since "New Nightmare" in the '90s. Thierot plays "Bug," a young man who is possibly being terrorized by his serial killer father sixteen years after his supposed death. »

It took a while, but Wes Craven eventually realized that an extra hour added to each day doesn’t mathematically warrant an eighth day of the week, and has therefore opted to change the title of his latest film from “25/8″ to “My Soul to Take.” When you say the two together it sounds like a made-up verse for the Freddie Krueger song by a child who hasn’t learned to count yet. In any case, click the jump to hear more about the first written by/directed by film from Craven since 1994’s “New Nightmare.”
As reported by Shock Till You Drop, Wes Craven broke the news of the title change on his Twitter page, where he mentions that “25/8″ was always just a working title for the film. It stars Max Thierot, Denzel Whitaker, and Shareeka Epps with Thierot as the lead character who is possibly being stalked by his »

Writer/director Wes Craven announced today on his Twitter page that 25/8 has officially been retitled to My Soul To Take. Now when anybody Google searches about Craven's new movie, they'll get information on the Devil. Kinda funny? In the sleepy town of Riverton, legend tells of a serial killer who swore he would return to murder the seven children born the night he died. Now, 16 years later, people are disappearing again. Has the psycopath been reincarnated as one of the seven, or did he survive the night he was left for dead? Max Theirot, Denzel Whitaker, Shareeka Epps and Emily Meade all star. »

It seemed appropriate that "The Young Victoria" closed out Toronto this year, considering that the festival turned out to be a coronation for women in film, in addition to being a celebration its host metropolis (a series of pre-screening clips from Toronto-based films honored the city's 175th anniversary). Besides showcasing upcoming femme-centric fall releases as "Bright Star," "An Education," "Whip It!" and "Fish Tank," the festival ended up bestowing audience awards upon the coming-of-age drama "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire" and the doc "The Topp Twins," which focuses on a pair of lesbian sisters and musicians who have been entertaining New Zealand for the past three decades. (A full list of winners can be found here.)
The best and the worst thing that can be said about "The Young Victoria" is that it left me wanting more. During a brisk 96 minutes, we witness the rise of Queen Victoria »

Photo: Warner Bros. Warner Bros. sent over four new character posters for Where the Wild Things Are. You can check out the small versions above or click here to view the larger versions in the gallery. I'm sure most of you read the comments Megan Fox made about her Transformers director, Michael Bay, comparing him to Hitler. Well, some of Bay's crew members sent in a letter to the director's official site, which was reprinted, leading me to believe he has given the comments a thumbs up. Here's a snippet: We've had the tedious experience of working with the dumb-as-a-rock Megan Fox on both Transformers movies," the letter says early on. [Note: the grammar ansd phraseology are weak so I've cleaned up certain portions.] "We [work] in different departments, and can't give our names because sadly doing so in Hollywood could lead to being banished from future Paramount work. One of us touches Megan's panties, another has the often sh*tty job of pulling Ms. »

Last year at this time I wished you a Happy 4th from the Film Experience's Holy Trinity (American Division) plus one. But in the interest of expanding my cinematic spirituality beyond, quoth reader Robert,In the name of the Meryl, the Julianne and the Holy Pfeiffer I've decided I should commemorate this particular patriotic day with photos of a few randomly selected young American actresses I like. Loving rising talent is quite easy (everyone does it) but for me, as an actressexual, it's also fraught with anxiety. Nobody ever quite comes right out and asks me why I'm so continually focused on the 30+ movie star sector but it's for that reason. When actors are teens or twentysomethings you never know if your fandom will be rewarded. They might have long pleasurable careers one can obsess on for years after like the Holy Trinity but they might not. Unfortunate fates are »

Oscar talk is already all-year round (as if you don't know yet!), but it seems to me, the focus remains on the established performers - most notably the filmmakers and the lead actors and actresses (Streep, Dench, Day-Lewis, Eastwood, Scorsese). Some tMF readers remarked that perhaps it's great to talk about awards where the recipients are the younger performers. Of course, it has happened before when young talents (which means not older than 30) get the recognition they deserved.

tMF takes a look at some of these winners - from the Oscars to the BAFTA to the Indie Spirit, the European Film Awards and more and asks should younger actors win more awards and why?
