Which series will be the next big Netflix hit?

30 September 2017 10:18 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Samuel Brace on which series might be the next big hit for Netflix…

Netflix has got pretty good at this original series thing. Over the past number of years the streaming service has cranked out some truly tremendous TV series that are exclusive to their platform, helping to revolutionise the TV landscape in the process. From the show that started it all, House of Cards, to recent smash hit Stranger Things, Netflix are making users’ subscription fees go a long way. Of course, they can’t stand still, or rely on the past to keep them successful in the future. They need to continue making new content, reviving old concepts, and bringing exciting new products to the screens of audiences around the world. But what will be the next Stranger Things? Is there anything on the horizon that has a chance of capturing a fraction of that show’s popularity? »

29 September 2017 12:29 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Sony has announced that the Men in Black spin-off is official and it will be released in 2019. The spin-off has reportedly been fast tracked by Sony with a May 17th, 2019 release date set and a script written by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, the writers behind Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight. This is huge news for fans of the billion-dollar grossing franchise. Though Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are not expected to make a return for the Men in Black 4, the story is reportedly set to build off of the work that the famous duo conducted over the course of three installments.

Holloway & Marcum have scripted a contemporary sci-fi movie about the secret black clad force that protects Earth from the alien scum of the universe, which is focusing on new characters (possible with a female lead this time) chasing villains that put the picture on more »

You might be wondering why Sony is so hellbent on reviving “Men In Black,” but there are about 1.6 billion reasons why. That’s how much the Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones trilogy of films made at the worldwide box office, so it makes sense why they don’t want the property collecting dust. And while there has been on-and-off chatter about Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill rolling into the series with some kind of hybrid between “Men In Black” and “21 Jump Street,” Sony isn’t waiting around for that to happen.
