‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Rockets to Dominant Social Media Buzz

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Rockets to Dominant Social Media Buzz
Disney-Luscasfilm’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” dominated social media buzz last week in the wake of the Dec. 9 world premiere and announcing its dedication to the late Carrie Fisher, according to media-measurement firm comScore and its PreAct service.

“The Last Jedi,” which opens Dec. 15, generated 368,000 new conversations last week to bring its total to 4.75 million. Tracking has shown the tentpole’s opening weekend could be in the $200 million range at the domestic box office — which would be the fourth-largest of all time after “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Jurassic World” and “The Avengers.”

Directed by Rian Johnson, the movie picks up where 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” left off. It stars returning cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Andy Serkis. The new cast members include Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern, and Benicio del Toro. It’s the final film role for Fisher, who died last

The Last Jedi Cast Touch On Carrie Fisher’s Lasting Legacy

IGN has today unveiled a poignant compilation in which The Last Jedi‘s leading cast members pay tribute to the lasting legacy of Carrie Fisher.

Kicking things off are three key members of the Resistance – namely Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn) and Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) – before the outlet switches gears and allows the likes of Adam Driver, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran to wax lyrical about the “unapologetic” Fisher.

The latter two are fresh-faced newcomers to the Star Wars saga, with Dern primed to take point as Vice Admiral Holdo, a high-ranking official within the Resistance who tends to rub up General Leia the wrong way. Meanwhile, Tran plays Rose, a seasoned mechanic who has been described as the “biggest new part” of Rian Johnson’s imminent sequel. And at least based on The Last Jedi‘s promo material, she’ll be joining Finn on a mission to Canto Bight.

The ladies of Star Wars: The Last Jedi came out in full force for the movie’s world premiere at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Saturday, dazzling in looks inspired by the beloved series.

Daisy Ridley, who again plays Rey in the latest installment, took the celestial theme literally, donning a dark strapless Monse dress adored with sequins and white star embellishments. Starting at the thigh, the 25-year-old’s floor-length dress became fringe — which showed off glimpses of her legs and strappy metallic heels as she made her way into the screening.

Daisy Ridley Reveals Whether Prince Harry or Prince William Makes the Better Stormtrooper (Exclusive)

Daisy Ridley Reveals Whether Prince Harry or Prince William Makes the Better Stormtrooper (Exclusive)
The Star Wars universe is getting a little more royalty.

Et's Carly Steel spoke with Daisy Ridley at the world premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on Saturday, getting the inside info about Prince William and Prince Harry's cameos as stormtroopers in the movie.

"I cannot comment on whether the princes are storm troopers or not," Ridley said, though her co-star, John Boyega, spilled the beans last month.

But if she had to choose which prince would make a better stormtrooper, who would it be?

"Harry," she said, after some thought.

Ridley has met the royals, and joked about casually catching up with them at the upcoming European premiere -- particularly Harry, who's now happily engaged to Meghan Markle. She described the conversation as more than likely going like this: "How you been? You got engaged! Nice! How's that? Great!"

While Ridley said she doesn't think Markle will attend the premiere, she joked that if

Inside the ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ World Premiere: Hollywood Celebrates Rian Johnson’s Movie

Inside the ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ World Premiere: Hollywood Celebrates Rian Johnson’s Movie
Misdirection: Keep that in mind when you check out the eighth “Star Wars” installment, “The Last Jedi,” next weekend.

That’s what writer-director Rian Johnson does throughout this dense, careening, seemingly unstructured movie’s 2-hour, 32-minute running time. The movie is worth a second viewing, as it demands that you pay attention. Every little detail pays off.

At the world premiere — the first-ever public screening — Saturday night at downtown L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall, security guards swept under every car, guests wore individual badges with seat assignments, carried their own smartphones in locked security bags to their seats, and kept their collectible “Last Jedi” popcorn buckets with them all night.

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Honors Late Carrie Fisher at Elaborate Premiere

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Honors Late Carrie Fisher at Elaborate Premiere
The Force took over the Shrine Auditorium near downtown Los Angeles, as stars and filmmakers of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” came together Saturday night for the first screening of the eighth installment of the massive Lucasfilm franchise.

Giant At-M6 walkers flanked the entrance to the red carpet, as stars like Daisey Ridley, Mark Hamill, Laura Dern, Lupita Nyong’o and others arrived and posed for pictures with fans. John Boyega had built suspense about whether he would make the premiere, tweeting earlier Saturday that bad weather had kept him from flying out of Atlanta.

“The Last Jedi” picks up where 2015’s “The Force Awakens” left off, with Rey reaching the planet on which Luke Skywalker had been holed up, away from the war waging between the First Order and The Resistance. Ridley, who plays Rey, teased on the red carpet that her character gets “enough” screen time. “I’m not going to lie, I’m proud

J.J. Abrams had no intention of returning to Star Wars after The Force Awakens

Having relaunched the Star Wars franchise in 2015 with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, director J.J. Abrams is now gearing up for a return to the galaxy far, far away to close out the Sequel Trilogy with Star Wars: Episode IX, having joined the project as a replacement for Colin Trevorrow. And, speaking to Rolling Stone, Abrams has revealed that he originally had no plans to return to the franchise, but felt the prospect of closing out the story was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

“I had no intention to return,” said Abrams. “But when the opportunity presented itself to finish a story that we had begun with these new characters, to tell the last chapter of their story, it felt like there was a chance to do it in a way where we could go beyond, and do better than we did in VII. I learned so

First Reactions For Star Wars: The Last Jedi Call It Mind-Blowing And Beautiful

“Darkness rises, and light to meet it.”

That eternal struggle between good and evil – between the dark side and the light – has been a cornerstone of Lucasfilm’s Star Wars franchise ever since Luke Skywalker walked out into Tatooine’s twin sunset. And when it comes to The Last Jedi, that feud will essentially boil down to two very powerful individuals who may have more in common than we’ve been led to believe: Rey and Kylo Ren.

Played by Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver, respectively, the Force-sensitive duo will be a big, big part of Rian Johnson’s sci-fi sequel, and we’ve even heard rumors that Luke Skywalker will be the one who pushes Rey toward Kylo Ren in the first place. Remember, Mark Hamill’s jaded Jedi has seen better days, so we can only assume that Rey and Luke’s relationship will get off to a

Rian Johnson discusses Carrie Fisher’s contributions to the script for Star Wars: The Last Jedi

We’re now just a few days away from the arrival of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and while there’s a huge amount of excitement for the latest chapter in the Star Wars saga, the release will be bittersweet as it marks the final time we see the late Carrie Fisher as the iconic Leia Organa.

In addition to her acting work, Fisher was also a highly-regarded script doctor, working on a host of projects such as The Empire Strikes Back, the Star Wars prequels, Hook, Sister Act and more. And it seems that The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson also drew on Fisher’s experience for Episode VIII.

“Carrie was, you know, a writer first and foremost,” said Johnson (via Comic Book). She loved words. We would get together and we would go over the scenes. We wouldn’t rewrite the scenes but she would throw out suggestions for jokes,
