Butler Cleared Of Battery

9 hours ago | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Scottish actor Gerard Butler is in the clear following his 2008 bust-up with a paparazzo - a California judge has dismissed a misdemeanour battery charge against him.

The Los Angeles City Attorney filed the charge against Butler in May after investigating claims the 300 star attacked a snapper outside the premiere party for Guy Ritchie film RocknRolla on 7 October 2008.

The actor's representatives insisted the photographer was stalking the star, almost killing a pedestrian as he chased the Scot through Hollywood.

The charge was dismissed at a hearing on Tuesday after the actor completed community service.

Butler faced up to six months in jail if convicted. »

Redmond O'Neal Back In Jail

9 hours ago | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal's troubled son Redmond O'Neal is back in jail following his arrest on drugs charges last week (ends03Jan10).

O'Neal, who has been sober for six months after battling drug problems for years, was allowed out on a 24-hour release from a California rehab facility where he has been residing since September.

He was taken into custody on 29 December on a felony charge after displaying odd behaviour upon his return to the facility.

Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says, "When he came back, he told the program counselors that he had used drugs. He tested positive (for drugs)."

And at a scheduled status update on Tuesday, a judge ordered Redmond back to Wayside Detention Center for at least 30 days to focus on relapse prevention.

He is now facing up to six years in prison, as the latest arrest violates probation terms of a previous drug offence.

Redmond was moved to rehab to continue his fight against substance abuse, after serving time behind bars in connection to a January 2008 drug arrest and a probation violation. »

Ch-ch-ch-changes, to quote David Bowie. That's exactly what the good Doctor himself has been through plenty of times during his 906 years, with the latest regeneration taking place in front of millions of weepy viewers on New Year's Day. The first and last words of a new or departing Doctor are always fascinating, so here's a look at The Doctor's rises and demises since the show started in 1963... The First Doctor First words: "What are you doing here?" A battle against the Cybermen in the South Pole took its toll on the increasingly frail Time Lord, who lapsed in and out of consciousness while trying to fend off the Mondasian threat.
