Jon & Kate Gosselin Together for July 4th with Children
5 July 2009 9:30 AM, PDT
Although divorce papers have been filed, Jon and Kate Gosselin have made good on their pledge to focus on their children, reuniting for a July 4 picnic with their eight kids. At their home in Wernersville, Pa., the family played volleyball and picked blueberries for a cake that Kate was baking, while Jon was seen lighting up a sparkler. The event had been planned, as the stars of Tlc's Jon & Kate Plus 8 agreed weeks ago to set aside their differences for the holiday. "Jon pointed to the July 4 holiday and said, 'What are we going to do about that?'" Kate

Transformers vs. Ice Age: "Too Close to Call"
5 July 2009 10:35 AM, PDT
Dinosaurs versus giant robots—now, there's an even match. And so it was at the weekend box office, where the tracking firm Exhibitor Relations declared the race "too close to call," with the studios behind Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen both estimating $42.5 million grosses. Johnny Depp's Public Enemies debuted with an estimated $26.2 million, on the high side for grown-up movies, circa 2009, if not on the high side of projections. Drilling down into the numbers: • By the time Monday's final numbers come in, Exhibitor Relations' Jeff Bock (more)Permalink | Report a problem

From Politics to Pop Culture: What's Next for Sarah Palin?
4 July 2009 11:38 AM, PDT
What's next for Sarah Palin following her unexpected resignation from Alaska's top job and serving as a favorite pop-culture target?
Even though the freshman governor gave no details on her future plans other than "looking forward to serving the public outside the governor's chair," she has given us plenty to talk about for the past year.
Just last month she publicly feuded with David Letterman, who ultimately apologized for poking fun at one of the governor's teenage daughters.

New Brothers Trailer Hits
5 July 2009 9:18 AM, PDT
Jim Sheridan, director of In America and In The Name of the Father, has been out of the picture ever since Get Rich Or Die Tryin'. But now he's back with the rather promising-sounding Brothers, which sees Natalie Portman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire in a family drama. Check it out here. The film sees Grace Cahill (Portman) informed that her Marine husband Sam (Maguire) has been killed while serving in Afghanistan. His good-for-nothing brother Tommy (Gyllenhaal) unexpectedly steps up in his absence and takes care of his wife and children - but when romantic feelings grow between Grace and Tommy, (more)Permalink | Report a problem

Ice Age 3 and Transformers 2 tied, Public Enemies opens strong. The 4th of July weekend box office.
5 July 2009 12:45 PM, PDT
Due to the fact that the top two films (Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) are literally tied at $42.5 million, I'm ignoring the rankings and just concentrating on the numbers. Regardless, it looks like everything did moderately well according to expectations. The big (more)

It'd be far too easy and immature to devote an entire interview to asking Evan Rachel Wood, the 21-year-old Golden Globe-nominated actress of Thirteen and Running With Scissors, about her attraction (fictional and otherwise) to older men.
