Sushant Singh Rajput (“Pk,” “Kai Po Che”) will star in the Indian remake of Hollywood hit “The Fault in our Stars.” The Hindi-language project is backed by Fox Star Studios.

The company has set well-known Mukesh Chhabra, a well-known casting director, to make his feature directing debut with the film. Production is expected to get under way in the first half of 2018.

The Fault in Our Stars” was based on the novel by John Green was directed by Josh Boone with production by 20th Century Fox. The story traces the life of a young girl suffering from cancer, who subsequently meets a boy at a support group and falls in love with him.  Released in 2014 by Fox 2000, the original movie grossed $123 million in North America and a further $85.3 million in international territories. It released in India on July 4, 2014 grossing a modest $936,000.
