Simpson Gets In Shape Behind Bars
O.J. Simpson is spending his time behind bars getting fit and counselling fellow prisoners, according to a close friend of the shamed American football star-turned actor.
Norman Pardo has visited Simpson at Nevada's Lovelock Correctional Center, where he is 11 months into a 33-year sentence for masterminding a 2007 memorabilia heist in Las Vegas.
And he claims the 62 year old is working out daily.
He tells the New York Post, "O.J. works out every day. He's lost a lot of weight and he's in great shape. He says that's one of the benefits of not being able to go out and party like he used to."
Pardo also claims Simpson has been offering anger management and race relations counselling to other inmates at Lovelock.
Producer Pardo is currently promoting a new movie he has created from 70 hours of footage of the Naked Gun star, originally shot to help repair his pal's reputation.
According to the Post, he has turned the tapes into a fictional film called Suspect 32. »
Mendes Urges Fans To Ignore Online Impostors
3 hours ago
Eva Mendes is urging fans not to fall for internet impostors posing as her on social networking sites.
The actress is baffled when fans and friends believe they're really chatting with her on Facebook and Twitter because she'd never put her saucy snaps online like the hoaxers do.
She says, "I'm not anti (against) it but I'm not involved in it (social networking) in any way. It's obvious it's not me. Like I'd put sexy pictures of myself online!" »
Horne's Stroke Fears
British actor Mathew Horne was petrified he'd suffered a stroke when he collapsed onstage during his stint in a London play earlier this year.
The comedy star fainted during an afternoon matinee performance of West End show Entertaining Mr Sloane in April, and couldn't move for 10 minutes before paramedics arrived to take him to hospital.
The experience left Horne terrified for his health - but he was furious when critics blamed the incident on his partying.
He says, "I was on stage and I just blacked out and dropped to the floor. It came on pretty suddenly and the next thing I was in hospital and the doctors said I might have had a stroke. It was a scary time. Because I'd passed out and there was no obvious cause, they ran all the stroke tests on me. Thankfully, it only took a few hours to get the negative results and be told that it was just a virus. Even so, it was really frightening. It gave me a shock, and it took me a good three weeks to fully recover.
"During that time, when you're really frightened and coming to terms with it, to have people saying things like that was pretty hard. If they had pictures of me coming out of clubs every night, fair enough, but that's not the case."
But the star insists the experience has taught him to take better care of himself: "I was pushing myself too hard with work at the time and that definitely contributed. I was doing the Brits (Awards), the press for our sketch show and film, and the play. I was running a lot, too. I was definitely doing too much. It was a good learning curve." »

And now the actor is stepping up his business by making plans for tourists to visit.
He says, "I have plans to revitalise this project with conferences, for example, on wine and literature, and I want to promote wine tourism.
"In fact, we are studying the possibility of building a small hotel to welcome wine enthusiasts because it is a marvellous place."
And he's pushing for the company to increase its production from 600,000 bottles of wine per year to two million, before concentrating on selling in the U.S.: "After this number (two million) we would have to think of expanding the winery. We want to stabilise ourselves first in the Spanish and European market and then focus on the American market." »

Critics have protested and want the poster pulled down, but Mendes insists they're wrong.
She says, "It's a religious group that has a problem with the image. That's what I love about this country. We can voice our opinions and beliefs like that. But they're wrong. I don't think I'm traumatising any children. I think it's a really tasteful and beautiful ad." »

Cruise And Diaz Movie Suspended After Two Injured
10 hours ago
Filming has been suspended on Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz's new movie Knight And Day after two people were injured when seven bulls escaped the set onto the streets of Spain.
The animals, which were being used to recreate scenes from the country's annual Pamplona bull run, fled onto the streets of Cadiz until they were recaptured approximately 40 minutes later.
Two women were slightly hurt during the stampede, according to local police and officials, leading the mayor's office to call off shooting until safety procedures are re-evaluated.
A spokesperson for the mayor of Cadiz says, "Nothing will be filmed in Cadiz until we have a new plan that guarantees the safety of local residents."
Producer Calle Cruzada insists he did not know how the bulls managed to escape.
But the incident will further the fears of an anti-bullfighting organisation, whose members have pleaded with Cruise and Diaz to pull out of the movie.
Cas International released a statement last week (beg16Nov09), that read, "Apart from the fact that bulls are abused for this movie, we also fear that after seeing this movie, even more American and other tourists will participate in the bull runs in Pamplona and elsewhere in Spain."
Cruise and Diaz were due to fly to Spain to start filming their scenes next weekend (28-29Nov09). »
