'Bachelor' Season Premiere: Claws, Tears and Costumes All Come Out 'On the Wings of Love'
23 December 2009 5:10 AM, PST
This morning I was treated to an advanced screening of the premiere episode of The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love, the fourteenth installment in the well-known ABC series starring one lucky guy looking for his bride among 25 aspiring ladies.
Writing about television certainly has its perks, just as being The Bachelor does. But with great power comes great opportunity for screwing up. For example: I did get to watch the season premiere a couple weeks early, but now I have the harrowing duty of giving you just the right amount of juicy hints about the episode, without giving too much away.
See if I'm up to the task below. (Mild spoiler warning!)
I think I can handle it, especially when my job doesn't seem tough at all compared to what this season's Bachelor, pilot Jake Pavelka, is up against. The drama--the kind that only a group of 25 beautiful, vulnerable »

The Office: Things to Expect in 2010
22 December 2009 3:43 PM, PST
So far, this season of The Office had been marked with extreme happiness (Jim and Pam's wedding) and extreme uncertainty (Dm bankruptcy). In between there were funny stuff (the murder game episode) and not-so-funny things (Scott's tots).
With some weeks to go before the NBC comedy returns next year, let's list down the five things The Office fans can expect next year.

Tom Bergeron Talks 'Dancing with the Stars' Season 10
22 December 2009 3:40 PM, PST
There remains to be no "definite" season 10 pick-up for Dancing with the Stars, but ABC wouldn't dare cancel this show, would it? For host Tom Bergeron, the ratings slide last season shouldn't be a case for concern, and as things stand, he says, things look Ok en route to its targeted March 22 premiere.
Some attribute last season's ratings dip to disinterest toward the cast as a whole, weird and perhaps unexpected since because it featured the largest number of celebs - 17 - ever. No word yet on who the personalities next season will be, but names floated include Kate Gosselin, Jennifer Grey, Jermain Dupri, and Levi Johnston. The host's lips are sealed, though.

First Non-Vague 'Big Love' Season 4 Trailer Released, Plus Casting News
22 December 2009 3:38 PM, PST
Granted, this newly released Big Love season 4 promo doesn't really tell us anything we didn't know, but it's still awesome to finally see things take shape.
From the trailer, we see the casino and running-for-senate storylines for Bill and the home shopping network storyline for Marge (and the other two wives finding out just how much she's earning). We also see Sarah, who'll be leaving toward the end of the season, plus the future of Juniper Creek post-Roman's death. And yes, Nicki and her ex-hubby and Alby and budding love interest Benjamin Koldyke.

'Criminal Minds' Spin-off Pilot Casts Director
22 December 2009 3:34 PM, PST
The upcoming Criminal Minds spin-off, set to begin production in February, has found itself a director, and no other than the same guy who helmed the original Criminal Minds pilot that aired some four years ago.
Richard Shepard, who directed "Extreme Aggressor" on CBS' Criminal Minds, has signed on to handle the show's spin-off as well, or at least the pilot episode, Variety reports.

'Grey's Anatomy'-'Private Practice' Crossover: First Look
22 December 2009 3:29 PM, PST
It's still a good three weeks to go before Grey's Anatomy returns with its (heavily anticipated?) crossover event with sister and fellow Shonda show Private Practice, but already the promo is out. And as usual, tension is there.
As we figured out when Grey's Anatomy said goodbye for the holiday break way too early on November 19, Mark Sloan's (Eric Dane) 18-year-old love-child (Leven Rambin) is pregnant, and the reason she's crashing the then peaceful Sloan-Lexie love nest is because she had no where to go.

True Blood: Alexander Skarsgard Weighs in on the Rumored Eric-Sookie Hook-Up
22 December 2009 12:10 PM, PST
The second season of True Blood has repeatedly toyed with the idea of a Sookie-Eric hook-up, whether it's just in Sookie's dreams or in palpable hints insinuated by Eric himself. This very premise has seemingly divided fans of the HBO vampire series--- with some rooting for Bill and Sookie, while others are hoping for a Sookie-Eric pairing. To shed light on the subject, Alexander Skarsgard, who plays vampire Eric, spoke to Entertainment Weekly and revealed what's bound to happen on True Blood.

'Vampire Diaries' Popularity Won't Bring Back 'Moonlight'
22 December 2009 12:02 PM, PST
The Vampire Diaries wasn't initially welcomed by critics who deduced the show as yet another lame vampire series that takes the premise of its predecessors. But surprisingly, the first 10 episodes of the CW series didn't suck. In fact, The Vampire Diaries is now one of the latest fan sensations sweeping through pop culture, earning record breaking ratings for the network.
This just proves that the vampire genre hasn't been saturated, even with Twilight and True Blood around. Does this mean there's still room for CBS' Moonlight? Sorry to disappoint Moonlight fans but Eonline.com has already looked into the possible scenario and the results are not good. »

Simon Cowell Will Leave 'Idol' for American 'X Factor', His Brother Claims
22 December 2009 8:56 AM, PST
"They all start somewhere," so say the new American Idol ads making the rounds (and, in my case, giving me the chills) lately. One thing that it doesn't mention: it ends somewhere, too. Somehow. Soon.
I don't mean to sound too gloopy, but I was thinking of just that after hearing someone else say that Simon Cowell is planning to leave Idol after this season. Sure, the rumor's been making the rounds especially since his contract was still up for renewal at the time. We've long forgotten that when all indicators pointed at Simon returning, with a much bigger paycheck than before. But, if the shirt-toting Brit's brother is to be believed, this year would be the last we'll see of him. »

Backstage Interview with 'So You Think You Can Dance' Contestant Ellenore Scott
22 December 2009 8:22 AM, PST
When I talked to Ellenore Scott backstage after the So You Think You Can Dance finale she showed me the scrapes on her knees and elbows like war wounds. They were impressive. Much like Russell's tears, they also drove home the theme of the evening. Dancing is a contact sport.
Just as painful, a needle holding her dress together was stabbing her in the stomach. Ellenore has a high tolerance for pain. »

Bill Lawrence Dishes on 'Scrubs' Season 9 Spoilers
22 December 2009 7:55 AM, PST
Honestly, one wouldn't expect Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence to reveal plenty about the new season of his hit show. But from several of his interviews, we manage to unearth snippets and spoilers regarding this re-imagined ABC series we all know and love.
Since the show premiered this month, we've been expecting a lot because the season 8 finale really set the standard high. We didn't think Scrubs [Med School] would live up to the original, but the fans are still giving it a chance. And with what Lawrence has divulged, we can see why.

Backstage Interview with 'So You Think You Can Dance' Contestant Kathryn McCormick
22 December 2009 6:48 AM, PST
Kathryn McCormick wasn't always my favorite dancer on the show, but she was one of my favorite dancers to talk to. Her performance coaches would be proud of the way she has mastered the art of eye contact. She mirrors the person she is talking to, smiling when they smile, laughing when they laugh. She talked to each reporter individually and connected with each of them on a unique but consistent interpersonal level.
I believe that was her skill on the show, too; For every time Jakob looked bashfully at the floor or Russell looked excitedly towards the heavens, she looked piercingly into the camera like a vampire. "You will pick up the phone. You will vote for me." »

Backstage Interview with 'So You Think You Can Dance' Performer Jakob Karr
22 December 2009 6:41 AM, PST
When you think of the ideal reality show contestant, many qualities come to mind, from possessing a unique point of view to having an aggressive spirit of competition. But one word you don't think of is shy.
For better or for worse, So You Think You Can Dance phenom Jakob Karr is exactly that. Shy. His voice is soft and sweet. He comes across like someone so determined not to say anything that they would regret later that they don't say anything memorable at all. »

Backstage Interview With 'So You Think You Can Dance' Winner Russell Ferguson
22 December 2009 6:33 AM, PST
Days after Russell Ferguson won So You Think You Can Dance on one leg his Cheshire Cat grin is still fresh in my mind.
Russell is from Roxbury, Massachusetts, a high crime urban area that the City of Boston's governmental web page refers to as "the heart of black culture in Boston." He was the first krumper ever to compete on So You Think You Can Dance, but he won having only danced in his natural style once on the series.

Backstage Interview with 'Survivor: Samoa' Contestant Brett Clouser
22 December 2009 6:26 AM, PST
Survivor: Samoa contestant Brett Clouser talks like a press release, looks like Jeff Probst's son and always wears the same t-shirt. The fashion designer, who was recruited at a Las Vegas trade show, was a respectful young gentleman in a Schmergenbrawl of liars and egotists. Everything he says sounds diplomatic. It actually takes a tremendous savvy to be so conscious of your words, but Brett does one better. He somehow delivers these wordsmithed comments with a dimpled, boyish smile that's anything but bland. It explains why he could be a front runner in the game and invisible on television. He is simply the opposite of your typical reality contestant. »

'Smallville' Fan Columnist: Top Nine Chlollie Moments of '09 Squared
22 December 2009 5:53 AM, PST
So, I know we all love Clois, but personally--i absolutely adore Chlollie too! True, presently these two are merely friends and may very well stay that way, but nevertheless, honoring the tremendous growth exemplified by both Chloe and Oliver this season, I compiled a 'Top Nine Moments of Season Nine in 2009' for them too. Just one disclaimer: since Chloe and Oliver are not an actual 'couple', I chose moments I considered significant for each individually, rather than focusing solely on moments shared by the characters. Enjoy!

American Idol Releases Season 9 Schedule
22 December 2009 4:40 AM, PST
It's almost time for the highly anticpated season 9 of American Idol, which debuts Tuesday January 12th. Hopefully you didn't have any plans for your Tuesdays or Wednesday from mid-January to March, because based on the schedule just released by Fox, it looks like it's going to be packed with American Idol.

Blige, Kristin Chenoweth, Neil Patrick Harris, Joe Jonas, Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry and Shania Twain, Idol will head back to Hollywood to determine semi-finalists. During the all important Hollywood round, not only will we meet the semi-finalists, we'll also get our first peek at new Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres who will join Simon, Randy, and Kara at the judges table.

Backstage Interview with 'Survivor: Samoa' Contestant Mick Trimming
22 December 2009 2:52 AM, PST
One could easily point to Mick as being too glossy for reality TV. With perfectly hairsprayed brown locks, a chiseled face and a medical blue sweater, he's got an airbrushed quality to him that is wholly Los Angeles, where he works at Cedar-Sinai hospital.
I choose to look at Mick from the opposite perspective. He didn't hit the mark as a TV character because he didn't play to the cameras. Mick is an anestheseologist, and presumably brilliant, in a way. But he is also a low key guy, and when I caught up with him on the red carpet he answered most of my questions concisely, in simple language. Mick could be described as 'pleasant,' even 'agreeably bland.' He wasn't a great television character, but he's definitely real. Just don't touch the hair. It's not quite as real as his personality. »

'Gossip Girl' Spoilers: Jenny, Jenny, Machiavelli!
22 December 2009 2:48 AM, PST
The signs that Jenny's (Taylor Momsen) story arc on Gossip Girl is modeled after a certain helmet-headed Star Wars villain are increasing by the day.
You know. Anakin. Darth Vader. Sweet little boy turned ugly, evil lord of the Dark Side. Just so we're clear, for the non-nerds out there.
Is Jenny hell-bent on entering the Dark Side, never to return? Will she soon begin wearing a black cape and navigating a Death Star around Manhattan? Not quite. But there will be casualties. Check out Kristin Dos Santos' latest Gossip Girl dish: »

Backstage Interview with 'Survivor: Samoa' Contestant Jaison Robinson
22 December 2009 2:16 AM, PST
Much like his Survivor: Samoa tribemate Brett, Jaison is one of the world's good guys. He's almost sappy, such as when he told me that going through the whole game without any socks is just one of those things that happens, or that he doesn't think Ben is a bad person. He was the first to recognize that if he had put himself first in the game he would have been in the finals, and might have won. But Jaison seems to be hardwired to let even the worst bygones by bygones, an outlook that doesn't seem to have hurt him in the real world.
Jaison is an all star of the real world. Already at his young age he earned degrees from Stanford and The University of Chicago, and along the way he made time to compete on the U.S. water polo team and climb mountains. He seems »
